  • In terms of price and ease of entry, these are my five current recommendations for armies to dive into Age of Sigmar 3rd edition.
    Bummer on the Beastclaw Raiders; as I mention in the video, a few days ago the start collecting box was still on the GW site and was recently taken down (between then and today) after the recent announcements regarding their upcoming battletome---expect to see a vanguard kit announced in the near future. If you're looking to pick up the SC: Beastclaw Raiders now is probably the time (OCT 2022).
    00:00 Introduction
    02:37 Stormcast Eternals
    09:53 Beastclaw Raiders
    15:42 Flesh Eater Courts
    22:13 Ironjawz
    28:24 Kruleboyz
    35:49 Honorable Mentions
    Yes, I included orcs twice for Orktober (and in anticipation of Orkvember and Orkcember) sue me

    Outstanding video! Perhaps the best and most comprehensive explanation and description of each AoS army I have seen - thanks! Well done! 👍🎅👍

    I have been enjoying your videos this weekend. Thanks for the effort. I appreciate your opinions and the weighting of price vs hobby vs gameplay.
    I've been interested in Kruleboyz since they came out but most people have trouble explaining how they play. I think they are probably in a middling place competitive wise but man...those scare shields...that sludgeraker....that vulture...awesome stuff model-wise.

    For FEC I can also highly recommend the Broken Realms box which is still widely available. It contains an Archregent, 20 ghouls and 3 horrors/flayers.

    Great video, as someone who doesn’t know a ton about the game this was really helpful to understand some of the basics of the factions and good starting points

    Beastclaw Raiders have been missing for at least three weeks from the GW page. That’s when I was looking to pick up my first army. That being said I got three boxes off of eBay and some LGS with an internet platform for around 60€ each. With shipping it was just short of 200€ which gave me around 2000 points plus 2 Mournfang extra depending on how I build the big ones. I plan on some magnetizing but the main setup will probably be 2 Frostlord on Stonehorn 1 Huskard on Thundertusk, 2x4, 1x2 Mournfang for 1995 points.

      @@DwightOfTheDead It's a great army! They can be tricky to play but the rules are straightforward and the models are awesome :)

    Great video! I would add that the ogors became even easier to start with the new vanguard box. 2 of these boxes plus a frostlord on stonehorn gives you 2k points with some room to play around in list building and that for roughly 200€ if you shop not directly from GW.

    I absolutly miss the Old Iron Jawz Start Collecting :( the Vanguard is a Slap in a True Orruks Face!

    As a new player I think that other than price and model count lumineth realm lords are a good choice and the army I'll start collecting because they have a basic defensive strategy and a simple gimmick in the aether quartz

    • @BudgetWaaagh
      @BudgetWaaagh  Před rokem

      They are sometimes described as one of the trickier armies to learn (although I think the new battletome has helped), but what an awesome army--have fun!

    Kruelboyz with dominion+ starter set half's runs you £67 and gets you 890 points. Leaving you with 110 points to play with or more if you remove a set of hobgrots. Honestly might do that but I doubt it's going win at all in actual games.
    This only works if you have a friend to split the box with or you could try and sell the other half.

    Awesome video!
    Would you say the Thunderstrike Brotherhood complements the Stormcast half of the Dominion box? Liberators are my favorite Stormcast unit visually, somuchso that I was disappointed they were replaced with spearmen in it, so I might grab it for them alone.

      @BudgetWaaagh  Před rokem

      I'd say if you want the models go for it, it's a great discount! Just know the retributors will be unusable unless you kitbash or scrounge a few more due to the undersized unit included. You may want to check out the battleforce box that just came out too if it's within your budget but it's all skinny boys rather than the classic stormcast

    Sylvaneth i think should be up there. Yes they dont have the most simple rules, but its not that complicated. They have many very good boxes, are quite elite, so you dont need that many to have an army, almost every unit in the roster is decent and playable, the models look AMAZING and are quite easy to paint which i think is very important to get hooked on the hobby. They have a new book and fun gameplay and are solid A tier. Way better that FEC in my opinion because the models are crazy old and the army is neglected by GW - maybe new book soon, but only one mediocre new model revealed so far.

      Its between them and Nighthaunt for me as they both have models that look cool to build and paint i really want to get the black coach and the Drycha hamadreth ( think i spelt that right )

    Is two ironjawz start collecting boxes for 177$ flat a good deal?

    • @BudgetWaaagh
      @BudgetWaaagh  Před rokem

      If that's USD, then you're only really saving 10 bucks compared to buying 2 for the standard discount of $93.50 off say Amazon. So it's okay, but you might be able to find cheaper. You could consider checking eBay, sometimes lightly used unassembled boxes or assembled unpainted boxes will come up for as low as 60-70 bucks. Can take a little patience watching for a deal though and there's no guarantee. Also a lot of used armies on ebays are made up of mostly these boxes if you don't mind used
      But you can absolutely field everything from the 2 boxes so in that sense it's solid and cheaper than you'll find new just about anywhere
