XXV was released to celebrate The Jolly Rogers' 25th anniversary! The physical release included 2 discs with the first being a mix of songs like you'd find on all our albums and the second being all shanties, all the time!

I used to go sailing in a wayfarer ect but never had the chance to sail a ship. loved sailing love the ocean took my dogs with me a few times they loved it too I liked to jump off boat into the ocean and swim brilliant that got your heart pumping but only if you had someone in boat with you ahhhhhhhhh the good auld happy days ☠👍✌

When I was like 15-16 I went to a renaissance fair and saw them. I got a signed cd and told my friends about them. Now the jolly Rogers are kinda a thing in my small hick town. Me and my friends are in our 30s now. You can call me the butterfly, I had an effect.

Sometimes you just got to believe long enough to enjoy the song. Heard tales of Pecos Bill and Paul Bunyan all my life, give these the same willing suspension of disbelief , and they do what they were meant to do. Entertain !!
My mates and I are all from an alpine area, though I've never cared much for the ocean we have a bit where we are a crew. In turn we play these shanties as were hanging out together. Keep it up!
Used to listen to this album back in late 2020. This song inspired a character I designed. It inspired the story and everything. Today, I finally have all the basics. I will start to make the story a reality soon. I love you guys!

I switched YT accounts recently and can't believe among all the Shanties I'd lost from my playlist that this one took me so long to get back. On the other hand, it's like finding it for the first time again so I can't complain.

My favorite part about this song is how the green sailor who was throw overboard had somehow aperently grown his hair out, got a nose piercing, tons of tattoos, and many rings. And instead of the crew going "i do t think this is the same guy" they just go "eh close enough"
They stranded him on Hispaniola - that's a populated area, not an empty place. It's perfectly plausible it's the same person!
(I don't know if there's an history of voodoo in the area, but then voodoo can't do anything this bokor does, so.)
This song has one of the best storytelling I've heard, and I need to write down my reasoning:
The protagonist starts as a nobody, a complete newbie to the kingdom of the seas.
Then, a sudden event forces him to fight (metaphorically) and emerges not only victorious, but as a new and stronger man.
From here on, our Voodoo Man earns the trust of his fellow crewmembers and becomes a respected member of the ship.
Finally, he becomes rich, but stays true to himself and does not leave his ship and friends.
All of this from a tiny acorn... the journey is truly wonderful and inspirational.

Both, actually! We write most of what we do but we have some traditional or cover songs that we do. The physical release of this album included a second disc (available online as it's own album called "Shantytime") that was nothing but traditional shanties. Those songs will be coming in this playlist soon!

Unfortunately, we've never released our albums as instrumental-only. The closest we ever came to that was on our X Marks The Spot album (you can find the playlist here on our channel) we released a song called South 'Round The Horn, and also included an instrumental version as well.
