It's such an awesome movie, i've seen it countless times! Too bad it's so underrated
President Starkey... he's got a saying. "Stuff's gettin' better. Stuff's getting better every day."
People who trash this movie must not be interested in learning because there is a lot that can be learned from this film. Even if you think you know everything there is to know about humanity, leadership or free thought. It's a worthwhile reflection on all of those things.
I am going to say this, I have never been disappointed in a Kevin Costner film.
I must've seen some of Kevin Costner's work before I caught the Postman on TV one (very late) night, but after watching it I couldn't get enough of him. I wanted to know who he was, what he was in, and I wanted to see it all. It's the movie that made me love this guy.
For me 'The Postman' was a great film .
Listen to the passion in his voice.
it is very good movie and the best postapocaliptiv western... i saw it a few times.
Love the movie, way better than the reviews say.
I think. The Postman is the best apocaliptic western .... reminds me on Jeremiah by Hermann Huppen.
Loved the film and then audioed the book - very different beasts. VERY different.
Strange, just seen an interview with him in 2012 - he looks just the same, if no younger.
I loved this movie
Good FILM AND GOOD ACTOR
I love this movie so much. It got his late fame these days.
I thought the movie was pretty good.
Pyropheus It’s my favorite movie
Movie Review Guy I love it too! It’s one of my all time favorites.
I loved it. There were some nagging inconsistences regarding timelines, which could have been sorted out with more time in the writer's room. Also that a small roving band of horseback maniacs in Oregon held an entire country under their bootheels...Not likely.
It’s one of my favorite movies. It’s about how the written word can reconnect society and start the process of coming back from ruination and devastation.
I’m a writer and this movie shows how important words can be!!
Read the book, masterpiece. The film was beautifully filmed but very little like the book.
Most people will likely miss the important message of this movie. Communication between the peoples of the world is vital to maintain freedom. Every Communist/socialist oppressive regime seeks to control the flow of information to keep people from organizing any kind of revolt. Communication is key to organization. What we have now in the US is the beginnings of the control of information. People, please stop believing every thing you read or hear on the news and use a readily available resource like the internet to research and consider different points of view before making your decisions. If I have learned anything in my 56 years on this earth that is if something sounds too good to be true then it most likely is. There are no easy paths to a successful happy life of freedom
Comparing it to the book, yes it wasn't as good. The filmmakers weren't trying to make the book in the movie. They just took a few ideas from the book and made their own story. The two stories as separate entities are both very good in their own terms. The main idea of the movie is how the american spirit of freedom and wanting that free can bring the people together and overtake an adversity, a tyrant.
I wish he would put out the director cut
The main problem of the movie is its pacing. He spent way too much time with setting up the whole Holnist army thing and hardly any time with reaping the fuits of the success of the Postman, rallying people against the threat in the end. Up to the point where he just raises an army out of nowhere.
Save the USPS!
Hi there, Great Dedication. porter base What's your opinion about it !!
I enjoyed the film and I thought Costner did a really good job directing and editing it.
I don't like the film as a whole, I like a majority of it though. Some things could and should have been done differently, but it was not as bad as people made it out to be.
When the movie came out, it was really hated... I thought it was good.
I liked the postman.
Aint you heard of the Postaman / Holy sh.t its the Postman i seen him once
2013 come and gone and nothing happened how the movie described about the end of civilation
at Oliver Lannister - in 1997 there was a Judgement Day a Nuclear war.. so the Film takes place 16 years after apocalyptic events
There were no apocalyptic events in the real life universe of 1997 . In 2020 we are starting to see some apocalyptic events with this corona virus pandemic so my theory is this movie actually takes place in 2036
In my version of the time line heres how it goes
1996 - The Postman is born
2020 - Start of Apocalyptic events
2029 to 2034 - World War with China, and the Chinese use a EMP super weapon on America.
2036 - The movie takes place, theres a civil war in america
2066 - The Postman dies about the age of 70
I think Costner is a great director but a mediocre actor at best although I thought he was great in Silverado. Also, Tom Petty should stick to what he does best and that ain't acting. Other than those two, I thought the acting was great, especially Larenz Tate and Will Patton. The Postman is a great story and one of my favorite movies.
Watch a perfect world please, and then come back
The elimination of Cyclops, The Augments and the mutilation of who the Survivalists actually were was miserable. Yes it was terrible...an abomination.
I love this movie because it's so bad. Just so bad. But it's fun to enjoy.
@Gordy Released in theaters, ding dong.
This shouldn't be marked as spam. I don't care that other people like it, but this movie really really is garbage.
The postman the movie was possibly the worst film made by human kind!
Read the book and then you will wonder just WTF Costner was doing/thinking
The main theme was not even evident in the movie.
I had no idea just what was going on, as again nothing to do with the book
Free Speech Aficionado, spoken like a true idiot.
hola señor Kevin Costner con tanto dinero que usted tiene debería tener labor social con los animales maltratados y los niños desprotegidos bendiciones
The book was bad, the movie was worse.
Glad I didn't spend any money other than the rental fee to see it.
worst movie i have ever seen, it's actually a pain to watch. :) all my friends think it sucks too.
Must suck not having a brain :/
