As it says in 1 pet 4:1, "Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin."
That is the chapter I read thid morning! I didn't quite understand the last bit, do you think you could explain it to me?
@@laceybonin I'm not the commenter, but have been studying this chapter too :) I think Peter is saying that if we understand that suffering is a part of our life here on earth, and God uses it to test us and make us stronger, then when we suffer in the body it brings us closer to God, and can help us stay away from sin. It's not that suffering makes us perfectly sinless, but that walking a path of Christ-like suffering prevents following the opposite path, which leads through indulging in sin. Hope this helps!

1) So, since Christ suffered in the flesh for us, for you, arm yourselves with the same thought and purpose (patiently to suffer rather than fail to please God). For whoever has suffered in the flesh (having the mind of Christ) is done with (intentional) sin (has stopped pleasing himself and the world, and pleases God),
2) So that he can no longer spend the rest of his natural life living by (his) human appetites and desires, but (he lives) for what God wills.

Weird coincidence that I read this part yesterday
Somehow out of every single Christian video I have watched, this one brought me peace from the moment it started. Good job chandler
Wages for sin is death and there's no forgiveness of sins without shedding of blood and that's why Jesus died for us,that He would pay for all our past and future sins with His blood and the wrath of God was satisfied in His death on the cross and so when Paul says he's crucified with Christ,he is saying he's sharing in his sufferings and he's saying the fleshly part of him died on the cross with Jesus and we are now free from the law and aren't obligated to live by the law any longer but we still establish the law because it is good and because we love Christ,we now love Him because He first loved us and gave Himself up for us.
We were slaves to sin,we were slaves to obey unrighteousness but the as Jesus and prophecy in Isaiah says He comes to set free the captives and bring good news to the poor,to proclaim the year of Lord's favour. By us putting faith solely in Jesus for salvation we are born again being baptised in the Holy Spirit,not by getting wet in the water,and we are now made slaves to obey righteousness and we no longer find unrighteousness pleasing but as abomination.
We're a new creation now in Christ,we are His workmanship created for good works.
