  • I got a contact from a out of state collector friend for a opportunity to possibly purchase a few vintage gas station , soda signs , and old gas station pumps out of an old abandoned building in Central California. After weeks of negotiations I finally decided to drive up and buy some cool Shell gas station signs and vintage gas pumps from the original owners of a 1920s gas station in a small town off the main highway.

      Thank you - I appreciate you watching , commenting , and following me along the way. Yes on this trip I had to Shell out over $6.25 a gallon every fill up and that was at the lower cost stations . At Shell station it was almost $6.75 a gallon! As you will see it was well worth the cost being able to get in and buy some interesting gas , soda , and old tire advertising signs. The only unfortunate thing was the owners wouldn’t allow me to shoot video footage in the old buildings as we dragged out stuff buried under dust and dirt. One friend told me don’t worry about the video just be grateful that you had a chance to get in and buy. ⛽️⛽️⛽️😁😁😁

      @@gaspumprobI'd say your friend was right. I featured a little bit of a more modern gas station ⛽ on tonight's posting that I put up. I've got a few more segments. Honestly I think that the one with all the young ladies who seem to be running around and not having a bunch of clothes on probably would get a lot of views. Although I think the vehicles should varnish reviews. As far as fuel find out what the poorest county in California is. I've noticed a trend that they are definitely gouging everybody because the poorest county which will buy the least amount of gas has the cheapest price in many states. $3.19 for regular unleaded. Diesel $3.45. you folks in California need get on them about lowering the prices because although California has the highest per gallon tax on gasoline it ain't that much more than any other places, it would not cause fuel to double in price. By-the-way 359 389 for a gallon of gas is about where everybody's was fitting in on my latest couple of trips. So I drive into a major metropolitan area and estate and it's 3:59 to 369 a gallon. When roughly an hour prior I bought for $3.19 a gallon and that wasn't at the wholesale club. They're too poor to have one of them and the wholesale club the cheapest I can find a car was in a very rich area and it's $3.23. used GasBuddy. Simply Google cheapest gas in California. 🧰🧰🧰😎

      @@gaspumprobsomehow I just don't think you were seeing what I was saying back then. And I probably just didn't know enough about these pumps to begin with. But I didn't pay scrap price I just picked them up. But it might remember I was picking up some other phones and we had a few locations but principally majority was at one location. If you feel like you missed out then I must have sold them too cheap. 8 *500 is a tidy sum and all I had was time and gas money. The torn-out walk-in freezers and some of the other stuff was a little more difficult to load. But I had a couple of guys to help me. Wow that stuff got loaded on their trailers and they just paid me 40% of what they expected to get at the recycling yard. I got a few signs in the deal too. And it's not area that I hunt. I'm trying some new areas and I and finding exactly what I always said I would find zilch,! I kind of like the newer pumps. They're still rotary-dial type things. Because that's why the owner took him out he's switch them out or she did actually to digital up-to-date. One guy got back with me and thank me because some of the coolers that you bought off me for 40% of scrap. They actually worked. You know I'm just a little too old do that crap anymore as far as I'm concerned but it paid off

      @@gaspumprob $4.49 in San Pablo California is the cheapest according to GasBuddy for gasoline and that's ridiculous. The other five or six whatever number stations were listed all the way up to $4.99 a gallon for gasoline. I DID THE SAME THING FOR DIESEL FUEL AND PLACERVILLE CALIFORNIA HAS CHEAPEST $4.89 per gallon for diesel and it goes up to 5:49. But I see that AAA has the average had over $6. That's all California prices. You can simply use to town that you're in or planning go to. Search that town for your fuel prices. And after a while you'll figure out who consistently prices lower. Also Sam's club and Costco have the cheapest prices normally for gasoline. I have not had a need to buy diesel for the highway use I sometime. You go down right below where it says GasBuddy and bold prints and it says regular fuel and has a little arrow to write you tap it and you switch over to diesel or e85 premium gas whatever you looking for. I've heard about something called mud flap app . Shell has a club whatever they want to call it I don't think cost anything to join but you save a few cents per gallon. Also some other stores but I don't think they have locations in California. Anyway I just thought I'd mention that. You can always start burning that high pollution and getting tickets. Restaurant Grease. Okay hey if you don't see where you switch it over from gas prices to do so let me know. I did not join GasBuddy I just use their service on Google. So I do not report prices either. That's how they get the prices and it give you how many minutes or hours it's been since I've price was reported. Now I have reported erroneous prices and if the gas station was closed down. Okay hope that helps you every cuz if you're getting 15 mi to the gallon and you can save a buck a gallon and It will add up 🧰🧰😎 yes there's other gas price tracking items out there but they've none of them are pork for me as well as GasBuddy for glass I don't know five or six years. I had a credit card but I let it go cuz I just had too many and I didn't think about it at the time. But when you build up a certain number of points you could trade I think it was 2,000 points for fifty cents a gallon discount and that was on gasoline for me. I live they end up paying $0.12 a gallon for 40 gallons of gasoline when President Trump was still in office and covid result in a rampage. Also because the price was $0.62 a gallon. Anyway I have pictures to prove it. 🧰🧰🧰😎

    I like the welcome viewers that you put down for a comment. I like to Kelly Springfield tires signed I remember them. I had number does BFGoodrich signs sold them sometime back. I still have some BF Goodrich stuff that we got 45 years ago. Those gas pumps on the side of your trailer I thought you didn't like them they're nothing special. I picked them up for scrap and some guy asked me if I take $500 a piece and I said sure. I sold all eight of them. Now there was some other gas pumps that were living there probably from the 70s. Nothing digital and they just wanted out of there. It was just there for making up for scrap. I could get them to pay me to haul it off I didn't try very hard I think 🤔 they were just okay with giving it away so that did not have to pay anything to have a junk hauled off. Those newer machines lit up. I think I told you about it 3 months ago. Maybe a little longer than that. After all you're the one that motivate me to go pick the stuff up because gas pumps are worth something I thought. And when the guy offered to buy them off my trailer for that amount. I said sir that'll be cash won't it. Hector everything it was Cash. Plus he's so half the other stuff I had for me. I've got Fair number of Purina dog Chow signs that are 40 years old I believe. They could be older.

      Thanks for the positive comments. As far as those other two pumps on the side of the trailer- please find me a few and sell them to me at $500.00 . I actually like them if they are clean like these with old paint still remaining. Yes not what I tend to collect but at $500.00 I could make enough to pay for a couple of tanks of fuel and that is a big deal when your out on the road. I wish you still had the BF signs too- I like buying signs. Well maybe just maybe next time you will save something cool for me to pick up. 😎😎😎⛽️⛽️⛽️🪧🪧🪧

      @gaspumprob  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Greetings- Thank you for leaving a comment here and I appreciate your compliment on my collection. When I first started collecting in 1993 I restored several pumps in fact I still own the first pump I bought and restored. I no longer restore them because these days the trend is to clean them up , install any missing parts, and maybe add a advertising globe to the top and enjoy the vintage look. I use to want them to be restored and shiny and respect anyone who still likes them looking better than when they left the factory but I prefer them to stay original especially the ones I find in California that have great layers of multiple colors of old paint. As you will see in this video a simple power wash will sometimes remove old paint and reveal old original decals underneath making the pump even more desirable. In the video I spent only a few minutes on the old Shell pump to remove one layer of old paint bringing back the original color underneath. Now that the pump is home I will take my time detailing it and adding a globe , hose , and nozzle.
      Have a blessed day,
      Gas Pump Rob
