00:01 How much sugar do you want in your coffee?
Me: Yes.
MORE! Although, I gotta admit, I stoped putting sugar in my coffee a few years ago...
@@BleakmillGames If you hadn't stopped, this video would've lasted 5.9 seconds instead of 59.
@@quadgon damn true!
One of the best tutorials I have ever seen. Absolutely amazing!
Wow, thank you buddy!
So that's what they call these files. Always love to browse through the Vice City files and see Vercetti flattened like a board and gaze at the details.
Haha, yes, love this comparison, good old vice city days...
Well, they are based on UV-Maps (which is just the geometry layed out flat) and then they put images of a car onto this. Its really jsut a coordinate system!

This might be a weird question but, did it take you a while to get used to mentally translating 3d images into 2d&vice versa ?
That's the biggest thing that's keeping me from getting into any sort of modeling.. my mind just hits a wall, especially when it comes time to actually colour/texture the maps
Not sure if my brain is just stupid or if this is something that everyone struggles with at first
@@bickieditch9168 same I struggle with it, commenting here in case he answers btw
I've been using blender constantly for the past 5 years and I learned more from this short than any other video on uv unwrapping
Love the Ian Hubert style. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! He is a wondeful mind indeed, and I admire his work!
I have to watch these at 0.25x!!!!! Keep up the good work :)
Thanks, will do! I guess at .25 I sound really really drunk!
As a person getting into the medium, your videos are super helpful my man.
Very happy to help
I'm a simple man
I see 1 minute video..
I click it
Dude thank you! I had no ideas that not applying transforms could cause issues with properly projecting UVs!
Select Sharp Edges will help for selecting the Seams ;) Also .. Shift+ G -> Coplanar , Select -> Select Loops -> Boundary loops :)
UV unwrapping is pain
You're unwrapping my fucking brain.
My advice with unwrapping is getting the uv checker thing and putting unwrap live on
outstanding!! please make more
Just uploaded a new one about collision! Thank you!
Perfect explained 🔥
The only thing os this, your super knowledgable about this, but do you have long videos of ypu going through this entire process? Cause it is very haed to follow, because personally I would like to watch a complete render (like your other video just the entire thing not sped up) and have you tell me how to do it! Love these shorts cause it makes me feel like this is a lot easier than i make it out to be!
Could you do something on how synty colors their characters? As a dev with barely any 3D experience I'd like to sometimes change the colors of their models to something custom, but they do something weird. It seems like sections of their models correspond to a single color point on a color swatch. It seems to be somewhat different than this.
Not exactly sure what you mean, sorry!
Thanks I learn about how mark seam
Just use light-map-pack(prefer) or smart-uv-project... That's will be enough to make a non-animeted obj. For characters use manual...

Interesting
0:31 as someone who knows next to nothing about 3d modeling, what are islands?
0:39 same thing, what makes those unwrapped angles 'weird'? That they're not straight somehow? How does the uv map know which point relates to the 3d model? If you were to change the geometry slightly in the mesh, would you have to make a new uv map or can you reuse them somehow? Thanks!
Watch it in 2x
Will this work for the unreal engine 3 UDK?
I don’t think even the flash could understand what your saying given the speed at which your going.
Its for Hunt Showdown? (Game)
And I thought I knew how to UV unwrap correctly...
"ctrl-a and apply all transforms"... well, i'm on a mac, in blender 2.91. ctrl-a and cmd-a both do nothing, but I also dont know what context you're running that in. i'm in UV Editing, in edit mode, with edges selected - with the sidebar pulled out with "transforms". would be good to know how to reach that "Apply" menu without the keyboard shortcut, because i have no idea...
Looks like maybe it's this: docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/scene_layout/object/editing/apply.html
damn, so long video, I'm tired to watch it somewhere in the middle
I cant see the patterns
Easy.
Are you marsgizmo
I don't why this was recommended, I don't who you are, aber sprichst du Deutsch?
Auf jeden! Wir sind Spieleentwickler, und das ist ein Tutorial für GameDevs! Aus irgendeinem Grund schmeist CZcams das gerade in den Feed vieler Leute haha
UV IS HELL
If you have a German accent make sure you use it otherwise you just sound Irish or like a loose screw
That was mean!
Hmm, you speak German, right?
like every other blender tutorial, IT DOESN"T WORK.
