  • We love minivans on this channel, and these are perhaps the two best on the market today: The Chrysler Pacifica (the lone vehicle in the brand's showroom moving into the 2024 model year) and the Toyota Sienna (all hybrid since 2021).
We have sampled both on the road, but rarely get the chance to compare them back-to-back. In this video, we take a tour of each showing just what each brand brings to the table.

Toyota brand maintains a high resale value. Easy to get parts. Lower insurance rate. And, a much better reliability rating than the Chrysler brand.

Sure. I love Toyotas, but the Sienna's interior is awful. Full of plastic. And the top trim only offers 💩 brown leather. The driver and passenger seats are uncomfortable. The car feel grossly underpowered with passengers. My son's RAV-4 has a nicer and larger screen than the 60K van. Why can't they put some effort into the interior? Also the back seats pop up when you drive over a bump when you fold them down.

Had that exact dilemma last weekend with my wife, went to the city, looked at the pacifica, the pinacle looked great but got scared of long term reliability, went to Toyota dealership, a used 2022 sienna 30k miles limited was 10k more expansive than a new one, new one 8-12 months wait time dealer wouldnt give us the final price, left pissed out of my mind, drove infront of the Tesla showroom, figured meh why not, lets try the golf carts... discovered a whole new level of customer service, came back home with a tesla while we wait for toyota to get their s*** together on production...

I think you should be comparing a regular Pacifica (either FWD or AWD) to a Sienna. The Chrysler Hybrid has a lot of issues with reliability, so I'd be hesitant. If you get a gas version of the Pacifica. then you have the Stow and Go feature which would definitely have an advantage over the Sienna. The fact that you cannot remove the seats on the Sienna is problematic for many people. It doesn't make the car as functional.
The Sienna became crazy popular and in high demand after Covid. Toyota wasn't producing as many cars, so the dealer lots were empty. People started (and continue to) pay way over MSRP for one. All of the trims can come AWD which a lot of people want. They also love the gas saving since most get about 35 MPG with Toyota's hybrid system. The other thing that drives people to pick the Sienna is reliability and resale value. Toyota has a stellar reputation for running forever and having very few issues.
The thing that I don't like about the Sienna is the barebones interior and the way it rides. The top trim Platinum has this awful brown leather everywhere. But, to make it worse they slapped it on the steering wheel, but then made the door panels two additional colors. It just looks like they didn't even try to make it nice. I can see not making it luxurious, but it's ridiculous to be paying $60K USD for a top trim car and have it look so barebones and bland. Toyota could have put in a few extras just to make it look nice. The infotainment system is also only 9 inches, and the 360 camera that you can only get on the top trim is super grainy. Come on. The driving experience feels very underpowered. It's great for school drop-offs and trips to the store, but you really feel the car being sluggish on the highway.
The Pacifica is much nicer inside. The ride is quiet and smooth. Gas mileage is not as great, but it's not terrible on the highway. The Stow and Go feature is just amazing. You can haul all kinds of things because the seats disappear. Some people even camp in it. You can reconfigure the car in so many different ways which is super useful. If you get the Limited trim, you get this amazing Pano roof. You can also get an optional theater group which gives you two screens in the back with Amazon Fire TV, a vacuum, FamCam, and power folding rear seats. There are tons of USBs all over the car and lots of storage. The interior on the Pacifica just feels so much nicer in every way. The other advantage to the Pacifica is fact that you don't have to pay MSRP, or the crazy waiting game that Toyota has. Most dealers will take at least 2-3 thousand off MSRP, sometimes even more. I know several people that have owned a Chrysler mini van and they loved it. I see a lot of them on the road. But, there are people who say they would never buy a Chrysler again because they had issues with something breaking. If you buy one, get an extended warranty.
The minivan I would buy would be the Pacifica because I would want to be able to fold the seats down and use the Stow and Go feature. I like riding in comfort and with extras. I don't keep cars long, so I'm not trying to put 200,000 miles on my car. If I didn't care about moving things, and I wanted to keep the car for 8 -10 years, I'd get the Sienna.

Another great comparison review of the Pacifica vs the Sienna. I love the looks of the Pacifica inside and out. For me it is no contest the Pacifica wins hands down. Looking forward to your next comparison of vehicles. Thanks, Cory.

Sienna's haven't been readily available for 2 years or more. None on the lots. Pay an extra 5k over sticker and they'll put you on the waiting list. They ride bad and it doesn't have much room for a mini van. CVT transmission of course. And 2nd row seats arent removable OR stow flat.

Chrysler is very junky never makes past 100K without having serious issues. I have seen too many Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Pacifica with issues. No thanks. Toyota Sienna is superior in quality, reliability, longevity and low cost of maintenance not to mention future resale value retention. Even Honda can’t match.

Am currently driving my 1999 Chrysler Town & Country Van with 219,000 miles. This is the least expensive vehicle I have ever owned including my Toyotas (Which I also like very much). I think the secret is careful maintenance of vehicles.

Meanwhile, my Aunt and Uncle got 380k miles out of their Chrysler Town and Country with absolutely zero issues in their many years of owning it. My mom and dad drove theirs to 250k before selling. Knew another family that drove theirs to 300k. While Toyota might be known for reliability, I think Chrysler was better over the years than you are giving them credit for..
