  • I'm not sure what this type of texture is called, but it's all over my 1925 house. I watched someone re-create it one time and figured I could do the same where this old house number used to be. It's basically flung or slung onto the wall. Slung concrete? Slinging concrete? Flung concrete? Who knows. I've seen it used with hands, a handheld machine, a sprayer, as well as paint brushes. I first had to remove the screws from the wall, which I tried by hand and that just wasn't going to work. So I busted out the old oscillating tool and it made it light work!
While it didn't come out perfectly equal, I'm quite pleased with it. I could have used a little less texture, but I wasn't sure how it was going to dry. It dried pretty true to form and it took 3 coats of paint based on how absorbent it is! We're going to put a house number back up there so I wasn't too concerned with how it came out.
