      What cat litter do you use? We’ve tried four different ones so far that are supposed to be good for cats with respiratory issues but they produce just as much, if not more, dust than other litters.

    Hey Momo, i have a bengal mix male and a siam mix both with FIV from a spanish animal shelter 10 years ago and their appartment cats. My girls health is very good, but my boy sounds since last year similar like Momo + he sneeze very often. My vet told me open the window and use a humidifer....
    Would you please send me the name or a link for the asthma medicine and equipment to ask my vet about it. Thanks a lot, wish you and your cats all good.
    Sorry for my bad english

    I'm an asthmatic, and my cat suffers from asthma😢 I tried to copy you, but my cat hates the sound of asthma medicine being sprayed. Originally, he is stubborn and unruly. He is very lovely and friendly to me, but he tends to act as he pleases😅 He's not very interested in snacks, so it's hard to soothe him. I want to give my cat medication because I know the pain of asthma, but it's too hard. You and your cat look amazing to me👍🏻

    If you use a clay based litter that clumps, the fine dust can get into the cats lungs when using the litter box which then clumps in the lungs causing asthma-like symptoms.

      I just switched over to Dr. Elseys premium clumping litter. It is 99.9% dust free. Unscented is important too.

    Hey! My cat does not have those coughing fits every day, but rather occasionally, He pretty much NEVER coughs up hairballs in general, but every once in a while has a coughing fit and SOMETIMES coughs up a tiny bit of liquid. I wonder if this maybe had to do with the extreme dry heat we had? Should I be worried or not unless these coughing fits are frequent? they were somewhat for a couple weeks but not anymore. haven't seen one in recent memory

    What is Liam's resting respiratory rate? How long did it take you to realize he had asthma? My girl (Cherry) has asthma and we just got through the first year of it. She seems to be managing well with her inhaler, but it still leaves me with anxiety when she gets an asthma attack. Does that feeling ever go away?

  • @Thiccolo86

    Hey there! I have a question! My cat has diagnosed asthma; my vet doesn't want to put her on a bronchodilater yet, she's 7 and he wants her to "live as long as possible without one first" to go without the side affects - I've gotten a second opinion and while they leaned more towards using one, they were also not quick to prescribe one. She might cough on her food once a day, and she might have an asthma attack once or twice a week (that I can see), but she wheezes in her sleep daily. In the cold months these attacks will increase, and she will snore and chort and wheeze almost 24/7. A few times a year she's developed a cough from inflamation in her lungs, for which I have oral steroids to give. We tried the steroid shot but it had instant weight gain side affects and didn't seem to be effective, hence the "as needed" oral form instead. Did you go through anything like this on your journey? I'm so afraid she's not living at comfortably as possible by not using an inhaler, or something else if there is anything else.

    • @WhiteBeardsOG
      @WhiteBeardsOG Před rokem +1

      If she’s still not prescribed an inhaler, ask your vet about using a nebulizer with a saline solution.

    @Momo-and-liam
    Coming here from the video on how you found out your cat has asthma. My cat has these issues and I’ve always wondered if maybe it’s asthma but the vet says her lungs sound fine and she just congested due to allergies. Was your cat ever misdiagnosed with allergies and if so what did it take to get a correct diagnosis?

    • @WhiteBeardsOG
      @WhiteBeardsOG Před rokem +1

      You can always try to film what you believe to be an asthma attack. Videos can be a great and inexpensive way to help reach a diagnosis. An x-ray of the lungs can help determine if a cat has asthma but it is possible for the x-rays to appear normal even if a cat has asthma.
      Sometimes a second opinion is needed. My cat suffers from reverse sneezing & I actually had a vet tell me she was coughing up a hairball. I didn’t know if I should laugh, cry, or curse my original vet out for retiring

    Hi, my cat is great at taking his inhaler as well. The only trouble is that because his inhaler is a steroid one , he gets oral thrush quite easily. Do you have this problem and if so do you have any advice on how to deal with it? Ty.

    • @melissathompson9333
      @melissathompson9333 Před rokem +1

      Maybe suggest taking your cat for a transtracheal wash? Just so they can properly diagnose if it’s just asthma or something else (although it can be expensive.) I have two cats that have asthma and I give them steroid puffers but they have never had oral thrush. Just a suggestion but consult with your vet about that one!
