Look At This: CSU Channel Islands

Desmond Shaw flies to CSU Channel Islands which is nestled in between the Oxnard Plains and the Santa Barbara Mountains. It celebrates its 20th anniversary, however, the buildings on the campus date back to the 20th century when the campus was once a mental hospital.

Strange that Des Shaw wastes 30 seconds of this story of some silly non-existent ghosts. A more interesting (and real) historical fact is the late great jazz legend Charlie Parker spent 6 months at the former Camarillo State Hospital in the 1940's (now CSU Channel Islands). He even composed a song called "Relaxing in Camarillo" about his trip to the looney bin. Parker is easily one of the most important musical figures in 20th Century music in the U.S.A.
