  • World famous knife designer, author, and woodswalker, Ethan Becker is at it again! Known for his innovative blades that are made by KA-BAR, Ethan demonstrates for us his techniques for tackling large pieces of wood with a smaller knife. These skills have been acquired through years of training and real wilderness experience.

My ex wife wanted half of everything when we split. So I used my BK2 to baton the house clean in half. Thanks for your help Ethan!

Oh man, I totally almost cut my finger off with a BK9 doing what Ethan says NOT to do when batoning. Got a few stitches from that. Lessons were learned, shoulda watched a video like this first and not been so tired!

I've been building fires in the woods my whole life.... Never once had I ever "battoned" wood to do that.... It's dangers ... Hard on your blade and 100% unnecessary.

For one thing...and i mean, it's astounding how so many will be seen 'not doing it..... common sense people..................wait for it............................................ ALWAYS, and i mean ALWAYS....Wear some type of Gloves when handling these knives??.....Gee, ya think?...........so many videos of guys ( and ladies) showing us how to cut things, wood, whatever.... and, they are exposing the hands to this potentially disastrous chore.... going 'gloveless. wow?....beyond me?. Put your god damn gloves on. it only makes sense.

I do not believe in batoning with a knife that's what an axe is for .I've seen people batoning with very nice knifes an that's just plain stupid .

@@njrtech I only carry a knife with me, using dead fallen wood I have never had the need for an axe when there is plenty of deadwood standing that I can saw or snap to size.
