A Reuben sandwich is tangy, toasty, salty from the corned beef, mingled with that swiss cheese can be such mouthwatering. Latke served with sour cream and apple sauce is classic.
My kind of guy!...same things I usually order from the deli here in Detroit!...super delicious Ruben...Pastrami...Deli pickles...man oh man!...I love your channel...no talking just straight to the point of the channel!....come visit Michigan sometime!...come to National and American coney island!...and plenty of other good eating destinations here in our state to try as well!
This is awesome and amazing food. I worked at a Delicatessen in Chester NY. Gold Berg's Deli it was called. Had everything! Latkes, motza ball soup, coney island knishes, cornbeef, roastbeef, pastrami Rubens yummy😆 And soo much more. All made on the premises...miss that place. I'm hungry ✌
Thank God I did my marketing already . My stomach is growling and I know I'm filled . I would eat everything that they made .. Man felt like I was in heaven watching this and I didn't gain a ounce . To top it off I have been wanting a hot pastrami .. My husband would make them on special occasions for us . Dude your killing me with your videos . Went from a Pizza video to this . Thanks for sharing, my mouth is watering . 😋
Over 40 years ago I ate there. Then it was strictly Kosher! French toasted challah was made with condensed coconut milk & instead of swiss cheese. The Reuben was made with very thinly sliced boiled turkey breast. Which melted like cheese if you wet it a bit.
I'm in a Long Term care home, and these sandwiches are making me drool !!!! I honestly remember having some like this at a deli in Toronto, along with huge dill pickles !!! Oh god how hungry I am!😃😂🤢
Potato pancakes are common throughout Europe. In this case, Jewish immigrants brought them to America from Germany, Poland, Russia, and places between.
Latke is in Polish but in American it's a potato pancake as I have worked with Polish people before and usually served with sour cream and sometimes with apple sauce but warm as I know how to make them and usually sell for 50 cents each but you can also make hash brown potatoes that's the cousin
@ 12:00 that rye bread looks so good! I wish they carried that at my grocery store. All we get is crappy Orowheat rye! The grocery store bread falls apart.
Interesting to see how the american Deli's serve pretty much the same things than in Canada, but with different toppings, sides, condiments and even cuts. For example, we always eat our smoked meat sandwiches (spiced and smoked corned beef) with a LOT of yellow mustard and always on rye bread. Funny, since ketchup is a big taboo in hot-dogs but ok in sandwiches in the US whereas it is the exact opposite here in Canada. And don't get me started with the tomatoes slices! lol Nyway, it looks absolutely amazing though.
I was aghast when I saw ketchup on a corned beef sandwich. I live on Long Island N.Y. and this is unacceptable. About a hundred years ago I was traveling to Maine and stopped at McDonalds in New Hampshire and ordered a quarter pounder, it came with mustard, I went back to the counter and said there must be a mistake, the woman laughed and said you must be one of those people. I laughed and tried it, not bad. To this day when I make a burger I use ketchup and mustard.
When did ketchup become taboo on a hot dog? Never heard of this. Now that ketchup on a corn beef sandwich is a bit much. Need Sauerkraut, provolone cheese rye bread with thousand island dressing on that corn beef is the way too go.

We grate potato not so roughly, we add a lot of garlic and marjoram. Since we are not Jews, we can throw in a cubes of smoked pigs or sausages. These are bombastic latkes, we call them "bramboráky".. pretty greasy, filling and best for beer.
It's funny how some things are so different (you wouldn't easily find sandwiches that stuffed here in Austria and I have to admit I'd prefer a higher bread to meat ratio) and others are just the same (those potato things are called Kartoffelpuffer here and are a staple street food during the cold months here)...

The ham and cheese was the knee to the nutz of my kosher fantasy - the ketchup on corned beef was the knock out punch in the teeth.
I've never been to this deli as I'm never that far downtown. The food looks amazing!!
My goodness, everything looks scrumptious! Nothing better than a Jewish deli in NYC 🗽
So they don’t put Smoltz A.k.a. chicken fat

And a real Jewish deli would not serve, cheese,or cream with meat dishes to say nothing of what appeared to be ham..

These are all custom as hell orders, very few of the plates I saw served are the "norm" for the US.
Ketchup on hot dogs is great. The only place I know of where people disagree is Chicago -- the place where hot dogs go to die.
