LIVE: Interview with Tirad (son of Raif Badawi)

I am honoured to be hosting Tirad, son of Raif Badawi, to discuss his dad's arrest and detainment in Saudi Arabia.
Raif Badawi is a blogger and human rights activist who co-founded the 'Free Saudi Liberals' website in 2008, where he encouraged debate on religious and political issues in Saudi. He was charged with insulting Islam and was subsequently arrested in 2012. In 2013, Raif was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and 600 lashes, increasing to 10 years imprisonment, 1000 lashes, a 1 million riyal fine and a 10 year travel and media ban after his release.
Though Raif was released from prison in 2022, he remains stuck in Saudi Arabia under an ongoing media and travel ban.
Tirad, now living in Europe with his mother and siblings, continues to fight and advocate for his father's freedom. - Zábava

Thank for sharing. I remember when his father was arrested. He seems like such a gentle, kind man. So sad he wasn't even a teenager and now is an adult and can't see his father in person. Praying he is free soon. Could you link the mother's book?
Imho Saudi Arabia has definitely been doing lots of 'sportswashing' of late (their football league, Ronaldo, also boxing, golf). Some people think it's all ok and hope that Saudis will become more tolerant (players crossing themselves all the time, boxers talking about Jesus etc), not sure about that. Interesting interview, thanks Tirad, thanks Infidel Noodle.

The West has its foundation in the teachings of Christ. The teachings of Md has produced countries like Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan..
I'm not sure colonialism, environmental destruction, war crimes and wealth hoarding are teachings of Christ.
Do not forget that bible teachings also lead to death, destruction and slavery. It's the separation of church and state that made the west what it is today.
I would disagree The West is as wonderful as it is because of free-thinkers, resistance movements and its wealth. Debates and discussions about human rights from the aftermath of world war 2, civil rights movement and the wealth that the West has accumulated resulted in a society that is democratic, educated and *free*. It's not perfect but I don't think the West would have progressed like it did if it held onto religious fundamentalism

@yuse661 I am sure you have not read the Quran and the Hadiths. If you had read the Quran translated in your language and understood its meaning, you would never have converted to Islam. Sahih Bukhari Volume 7; Book 62; Hadith Numbers 64 and 65: Prophet married a six year old child and had sex with her when she was 9 and he was 56 year old. The Prophet was older than her father. What do you think? Was the Prophet a moral man? Is it okay for an old man to marry a six year child?
