    Great video Tim. Brought back memories for me of my younger days, music always does. I did join Colombia music club also but it was in '70. I got something like 6 or 8 albums for a dollar and I had to buy I forget how many over the next year or something like that. Great memories Tim, thank you so much. Gaucho is also on my list of top 10

    Actually producer Bob Johnson left in the middle of recording New Morning not being able to handle him any longer where Al Kooper took over producing duties and Al blew his gasket with Bob and he left the sessions.

    I have two vinyl copies of Out of the Cradle....One from Netherlands and the second one from Portugal. Bought via Discogs maybe 15 years ago. Certainly it is a masterpiece and it was nominated for the Grammy for best engineered album. Sound is amazing.

    I was lucky enough to see Lindsey Buckingham in a club in CT on the Out of the Cradle tour in 1993. He had four guitarists in order to recreate the music from the album. It was a great show. Reckoning is also my go to REM album. It brings back memories of the summer of 84. I just graduated college and started working for a company that was moving from NYC to Rhode Island. The company hired several recent graduates and trained us in New York for three months. The first thing I did in New York was to stop at one of the many electronics stores and purchase a Sony Walkman. For those three months I listened to three cassettes: My Ever Changing Moods by The Style Council, Undercover by The Rolling Stones, and Reckoning. Reckoning then made it's way into the tape deck in my AMC Gremlin and stayed there for a while. I have the record and when I play it I am taken back to the streets of NY and the summer of 84.

As for Dylan,I pick Blood on the tracks anyday..Like i said before. Its my age i guess! Dont have any Marshal Crenshaw...Saw him in concert though back in seventies.I pick Hunky Dory for David Bowie. Hello Tim, I have watched all your videos to my knowledge. I have a Steely Dan question that maybe you have addressed in the past or maybe not. The song FM was never put on a Dan album to my knowledge. But it was put on the FM sound track. If this is true why do you suppose Donald and Walter arranged it that way? I pretty much bought FM for the song. And on a separate note some you tube channels sit and bash the Aja album. The only thing I can think of is most of the songs played on the fm radio. I get it I lived it too. That being said Dan music is timeless to most all of us and still Aja is one of my go to spins even though I own all their albums. Go figure from me to you, long live all of their musical masterpieces.

    • @Universityofvinyl
      @Universityofvinyl  Před rokem

      Hi Jon, my understanding is that Walter and Donald were asked to contribute to the film’s soundtrack near the end of the sessions for Aja. They had already “tracked” Aja with Roger Nichols and were happy with the running order so FM was going to be solely released on the OST for the movie. Walter did all of the bass and guitar work with the incredible solos some of the best work he has done IMO. I think due to the fact of the huge success of Aja and the airplay and familiarity of the songs on the album vs. other albums, a bit of “fatigue” has probably set in among some who feel it’s over rated or over played. I don’t bash it but lately my fave is Gaucho. Thanks for watching and appreciate your questions/comments!
