Hi mark I stumbled into your channel and thought the guys wearing a hat ! All my favourite channels wear hats 😀. Totally agree with your thought regarding the quality of our system’s etc .. yeah bitches brew not my favourite but the guy had more good days than bad .. I liked the sound of yo la tenco summer sun thanks for sharing .. 👍
Hey Mark!! Just discovered your channel. I understand why you collect what you collect. I’m in a different way. I was very poor growing up. I’m trying to get those gems that I couldn’t afford back then. I loved what you showed. I subbed your channel. Enjoyed the video.
Great vid. I like how you're able to share the joy of collecting & listening. I am a music lover first as well. Some folks get too in the weeds with collecting & fidelity. I know it's nice to sound nice but I'm(51) your age it seems so I remember buying used for $4.99 or 12 for $10 from the dollar bin to hear what early BeeGees or Sonny&Cher albums sounded like. I enjoy the journey almost as much as the listen. Ultimately, I never forget it's music. It is not fine wine. Great vid. Thanks again. And I agree that Dyl lp is VERY good & late era underappreciated
The Complete Basement Tapes should be sent up in a time capsule so other galaxies can appreciate the American art form and some of of it’s greatest practitioners.
Great list! Love LOVE The Basement Tapes even though some of it wasn't actually recorded in Big Pink, but rather a studio. I got the MFSL vinyl version and it is AMAZING! I wasn't expecting it to sound so good.
Hey! Thanks for sharing your choices. I don't think I'll get around to doing my own video, but Calexico's Black Light would definitely be in my top ten most listened to albums. Looking forward to your Los Lobos and Jayhawks videos, both bands I love. It seems like we have a similar taste in rootsy Anericana. For me growing up and living in the UK, those kinds of records are quite alien and have the sound of a mythologized America which paints vivid pictures in my mind. A visceral document of times past, but which still exist if you look in the right places. Cheers - Hedley
Thank you so much for the kind words Hedley! I've enjoyed several of your videos (nice job with Calexico) and I enjoyed the Ye Old English... video you did with Mazzy. I'm honored to have you subscribe to my channel.
My list: Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon Supertramp - Crime of the century Dire Straits - eponymus Steely Dan - Can´t buy a thrill The Smiths - The Queen is dead The Waterboys - This is the Sea Pavlov´s Dog - Pampered Menial Smashing Pumpkins - Adore Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood Television - Marquee Moon Neutral Milk Hotel - In the aeroplane over the sea Pixies - Doolittle Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Pink Floyd - The Wall Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
First time watching: love Calexico - my go to album is Carried to Dust, but all sound fabulous particularly on a warm summer day ( a rare thing here in England)
Calexico and Latin Play Boys are wonderful albums but I really enjoy the Latin vibe. I just picked up some new Latin albums from San Juan and look forward to digging into their vibes. Great job taking the plunge into video making. I did it to be relaxing and fun to do, talking about my passion, what more is there
The Jayhawks are underrated. Totally love your taste in music! Beasties, Calexico, Los Lobos! You are a true musicphile. Have you done a video on your stereo equipment? What type of speakers are you rockin?
Good stuff. I'm. In the process of downsizing my collection I have too many cds and records. I got rid of all my led zeppelin cds and doors cds. Zep used to be my favourite band buy I just don't listen to them anymore. Same with the doors. I'm into jazz at the moment. John Coltrane, Andrew Hill, Joe Henderson and Herbie Hancock specifically. I've gone off most of my collection lol.
@@garyrobinson8665 Yeah, Gary, I was told many years ago that by this point in my music listening I'd be into jazz. I have tried to familiarize myself with some jazz, tried to absorb it, but I can't get past the feeling that it's all just free form riffing, that these amazing players (I can hear their incredible prowess!) are just making it up as they go along. Through fifty years of listening to music, I've had the "verse, chorus, verse" style of music pounded into my head, so it's a challenge to stay completely focused on what these jazz players are doing.....my mind drifts. Another hurdle, a big one, is the sound of horns (unless it's embellishing the tune (Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears) just doesn't do it for me, I'm a guitar hound! All that said, I came close to buying an Al Dimeola album the other day! If you have any starting points, album wise, to ease me into jazz, I'd be grateful. Thanks!
How old are you Dad? Trying to figure out you were in college in 90’s? Just curious For Miles try Jack Johnson or In A Silent Way fusion Miles at his best Love Los Lobos Bertha cover kicks ass
Easy on the assumptions, lots of folks your age, like me, don't tolerate ''classic pop/rock''!! Or very little of it. Play Dylan, or Queen, near me I'd be looking for a machine gun! Nasty.
Nice pick with the Goat Rodeo !!
Hey Mark, enjoyed you talking about your most pulled records and all of the ideas for future videos. Thanks, Chris
Thanks Chris! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Great choices…we have many similar musical interests. I need to pick up that Art Blakey for sure!!! 👊🏼
Hi Mark! New to your channel. I love the variety with your list. Miles Davis to Calexico. I am all in. Just subscribed. ✌
Some great stuff there! Need to check up that pre Los Lobos record. Have a great one and cheers!

I'm only a quarter of the way through but I'm loving it! Let's hang soon.
I loved mixed tapes used to make for my car!
You showed some records I've never seen before. Thanks

One of the best I’ve seen of this thread. Just subbed. Can I come over for a cocktail while you make the musical decisions? 😁😁 Cheers.

@@dadonabudgetvinyl1819 Tragic, to my mind. Planet is awash with enriching soundscapes, yet the masses are mostly oblivious to them..
Vinyl coma zzzzzzzz
Six minutes before we see your first record? Really? No wonder your full ten records take 39 minutes to show us 😩. No subscription for you.
Vinyl sucks, CD is superior to vinyl
