  • 2024 Indian Sport Chief First Ride and Review. This bike is your solid middle weight American air cooled cruiser and it does not disappoint. Super strong torque and very balanced and stable as a long distance bike should be. If it had a power plus thought ??

    Sat on it this past weekend at the dealership. Feels super close in weight to my Shadow 1100 but with 1900ccs is insane.

      Ya a lot of low down weight. I will say you can tell it has more mass in the shift from side to side but it doesn’t feel heavy you can just tell it’s bigger. It’s almost like rolling something heavier. You can tell it’s heavier but it’s not hard to roll.

    I DEFINITELY felt the torque. I had it in Sport mode initially and switched to Road about halfway through and enjoyed that more. Another thing I noticed from always riding water/liquid cooled was the heat. Throws more heat than I was used to but over all joy to ride.

      Oh ya I had it in sport the whole time but it’s still a fun bike. Head didn’t bug me that much but this day was high 60 so I can say it’s a cooler day for Florida.

    4:10 I ride with dual disc, single piston caliper. The one time I touched my front brakes, was in a car wash, and I was slammed to the ground. Phoned Trent from a pay phone, he delivered my signals and shifter peg to the next bar. I found in fear it is better to steer around or not get into the problems, but in DFW, I 35 can come to a stop and flying over the crest at 85mph with 30 cars behind you, gets crazy. Several cars crashed into other cars since they did not want to run me over. The ones that did, were blocked. That was a crazy morning on my way to wrok.

      Sounds like you need to do a defensive rider course. Grabbing a handful of front brake is NOT good practice. Glad you're ok.

      It’s an awesome bike. Depending on what you like about your bobber. This bike will ride and handle smoother being way more stable. But the way it makes power is a different style. You will have to ride them differently for sure !

      Gotcha lol. It sounds good. I’m the type of person that prefers more HP than TQ. I love torque. The ftr is a great example. I prefer that power delivery and style over what a 116 can do. It’s a different feel. I want to feel more acceleration as I increase revs the power plus does that the ftr motor does that. Old school air cooled bikes just can’t. Even with more cams and a tune it makes more down low and up top but still has more middle than top end. Not sure if that makes sense. Which is what I’m saying about how the scout va chiefs and how they deliver power.

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  Před měsícem

      I will be making a video about this exact topic once i can ride a 101. I will say this. 2 different engines for 2 different people. If you prefer sporty engines reving and speed with rpm. 100% 101 (I rode a speed plus already). If you like the slow cruiser torque power for cruising the chief for sure. Really comes down to what’s your preferred riding style. 101 should be faster than the sport chief.

    I live in JAX I'm going to buy my next bike at Holeshot I'm riding a Rebel 1100 T.... liquid cooled I'm torn between buying the Scout 101 which I really like but I would like something with more power like the sport chief which I really like as well. If sport chief was liquid cooled the decision would be easy.
    Question is I do every day city riding in JAX, I will do some long rides every now and then. Air Cooled bikes have a bad reputation for over heating especially in city riding.... will I have overheating problems with city riding on the sport chief? Or would scout 101 be better for my riding. I want the bigger more powerful bike but not at the expense of having problems with overheating

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  Před 29 dny +1

      Don’t be confused by numbers. Chief is a larger bike in size and weight. It will feel more stable and planted. Scout is smaller in size and weight so it will feel more movable side to side and easier to maneuver.
      Now power is very different. Horse power is how fast you can go. Which is different than displacement and tq. The scout 101 will be a faster bike than a sport chief in top speed and acceleration. The air cooled motor will feel faster at slow speeds but overall it won’t be.
      Air cooled motors from Indian don’t run as hot as Harley and you shouldn’t run into issues in traffic but that can never be guaranteed as it depends on how hot and how long your in traffic. Liquid cooled will always be fine. So the only true way to get that comfort is liquid cooling.
      Holeshot does free test rides. Go and ride the sport chief. They have this exact bike right now. Take it in normal mode first then sport. It dies at the top end. The new scout they will have soon but that pulls like a bat out of hell all the way to redline.
      I think the scout will deliver power in a way that is similar to your rebel and will have more power everywhere. The chief claims bigger number but we are talking American air cooled so this is big torque. Not big horsepower which is very different. And will feel the same or even slower than your current bike in actual MPH achieved. I can almost guarantee your rebel will beat a chief in a straight line race. Where I can do the same for a scout (even current) compared to your rebel.
      Hopefully this helps either way take the trip go ride both. Ask for DAS and he will let you ride both and make your decision based on which one puts the bigger smile on your face.
      Thanks for the view I appreciate it and best of luck I’ll have a lot more info on the new scouts when they get them in !

      Thank You... I really appreciate your videos and you do a great job delivering info and DAS is funny with that hover board 😂 plus it's really awesome seeing a local guy doing this. I really fell in love with Indian. I'm pretty new at riding the rebel 1100 is my second bike and really wish I started riding a long time ago I don't ever drive my car anymore. I think the Indian I buy will be my next long term relationship....
      It sure would be awesome if I got lucky and ran into you there when I buy my bike. You are really cool to watch and wish you the best on your channel.

      My goal is to keep it going so thank you again. These next few months I will be doing more than just reviews and looking to take part in some group rides and meets for other videos.

    Sport chief or Sports s Harley-Davidson for taller people????

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  Před 3 měsíci

      Ooo. Good question I’m 5’10” they work well for me. I know the Indian can be more customizable to accommodate a taller rider. The s doesn’t have a way to get the controls even farther away or move the seat back. Which the Indian can do both with new controls and a different seat. I will say they do ride and deliver very different power. Sporster is less of a distance bike. The sport chief is for sure a mid distance tourer 4-5 hour rides easy. The sportster is 1-2 max. It will beat you up a little more.

    Please wear some riding gear. Hard to slide with hands out without gloves and you tend to roll and bust bones. Gloves or no meat left on ur hands or busted bones. Wear gloves, please. I have crashed many times, one time could have been fatal.

      It’s not hard to handle for turning and maneuvering but the throttle is pretty aggressive. I would say no. Indian scout is way more friendly. If your older more mature and not timid you can take it easy in rain mod but it’s not the best option

      To be very honest I didn’t even look at the screen and screws for it. They sent those cheap plastic ones that come with aftermarket screens so they can’t be that bad lol.
