I never thought I’d see a Supra get into the 55sec range. Hats off to the driver, this Supra monster wanted to kick out every chance it could and the driver kept it under control. I think it can go little faster too. Thanks for sharing on CZcams
But the autobahn soarer z30 is running 52 sec Tsukuba and soarer is exact same chassis as the supra so for right now these chassis are able to do 52sec
Super rare to see a 2jz actually in a Supra being driven fast around corners! Many extra bonus points for not being a bubble wrapped show queen, drag, or drift car. Awesome vid, thank you for the upload.
スープラ本当にいい車だよなぁ。パワーも容易にあがるし、コーナリングもコントロールしやすくて楽しいし。当時は重量考えるともっとパワー出して発表したかったろうけど時代的に無理で不遇だったね。
トヨタで唯一RB26に対抗できるエンジンだしね。
強いエンジンなんだよなあ。
ほんとその通りで発売時にプラス100馬力あっても良かった。
この空力ガチガチのスープラについて来る後ろのR32凄いな…

Impressive! I would like to know how on earth they managed to drop the car's weight to astonishing 1190kg, this is ridiculously light for the A80.
In RDS in Russia a drift supra was 1100 kg and was on 2jz so this is crazy and it was in 2016.
The small wing is you and the big one is the person she tell you not to worry about lol

Was anybody else impressed by the standard bodied R32 GTR keeping pace with this Supra?🤭.
Nope. Cause it's 4wd and likely has around the same power.
Tbh it wasn’t really keeping pace lol lost a few seconds by the back straight
It wasnt keeping pace. If you look at the finish the supra was already slowing/cool down after hotlap going into turn #1 while the GTR cleared final turn into Tsukuba straight. Atleast 4-5 seconds behind.

Could the double wing be something liken to a sequential turbos? Small wing takes care of downforce at low speed and the big wing does all the fast stuff. Hmm, I feel like I'm on to something but I have no solid understanding of the fundamental principles or car aero.
By the way the car wanted to step out no matter what, the wings are there for keeping in inline at speed notice how when he slowed down the car steps out? That's cause no wind to make downforce to keep the back in check.
This setup is to provide fresh, energetic air through the slit to the second airfoil. This allows to increase angle of attack before flow separation occurs increasing lift (downforce). Same mechanism is used in airplanes' slats and fowler flaps.
However this setup is very sensitive to the sizes of both airfoils, their AoA, relative placement and slit size. I doubt the guy has it well optimized
I hope they take this monster to the nurburgring. Under 7 minutes FOR SURE maybe even into the high 6:40s. Someone recently did 7:18 btg with a street build.

smaller wing for less drag, and put a rear underbody diffuser on to get back the downforce. stiffer springs. will definitely be abit more faster
im sure supra would be faster then 55 it was skidding around some corners...
Sure autobahn soarer was doing 52 sec Tsukuba lap so supra is capable of doing the same time since jzz30 soarer and JZA80 supra are the same chassis

For a supra this is very fast. The GTR is quite a bit faster at time attack.

@@hydejekyll9950 there are so many cars that have done way faster times. Even 4 cylinder cars. Not just GTRs. But this is the fastest any supra has ever lapped Tsukuba so at least in the supra community it means something to them. Lol.
@@conradsealy9603 Yea you are right, for a supra that can lapped around tight and narrow Tsukuba in 55 second range, I dont think it's a failure given the original characteristic of being heavy and not so nimble handling from Supra.
@@conradsealy9603 a 55 is 5 seconds a lap faster then a mclaren senna... you have no idea what it takes to do a 59 around teskuba
