The Raiders release two leopards to attack Hopkins, Sakr and their horses, but Hidalgo has a trick up his hoof.
Competitors:
Horse (Equus caballus) 1100 pounds.
Leopard (Panthera pardus) 170 pounds.
Arabian horse: born and raised in a stable barn, the worst thing it's probably dealt with is a loud dog.
Wild Mustang: from the day he was born, coyotes, wolves, mountain lions, and bears. You name it. They've probably kicked it in the face at least once.

Poor guys face when his horse runs away. A Hero of the movie. Risks it all to help Hidalgo and Frank.
Obviously those leopards had never come across a wild mustang before. Hildago said " You mangy cat what do you think your doing?"
He already fell in a spear trap. His give a damn was damn well busted.
They can on occasion take down animals that weigh up to 2000 lbs like you said, but any predator risks it's own life when taking down animals much larger than themselves. A strong mustang stallion like Hidalgo could stand a chance (though i'm sure it would of been a much harder struggle, but hey there's only so much you can train a horse to do when there's actually nothing there).
There was easier prey the leopard could chase..
Hidalgo showed those cats who's boss and he protected his master with his life hidalgo was like ya stupid cats get the fuck away from my master or I'm gonna kick your ass mangy cat.
Hidalgo probably faced off a few cougars during his time as a wild horse in America. Leopards are almost similar in size to cougars, so Hidalgo's reaction would've been based on experience.
Hidalgo was a wild horse before he was with his friend yes so he knew what to do

@@redroseredhead4898 PS I believe hildago protected his herd from mountain lions during his time of a wild horse so yeah I know he has experience of fighting off predators and when his master set him free with the other Spanish mustangs I believe that was his new herd and he will protect em from predators horse wranglers and above all from rogue stallions.
These scenes were made by people proficient in action scenes.
This film is first class's action movie.

This is very different from Z class movies where not having the ability to demonstrate actions, they try to trick the viewer to wear him down by the deception of the swing cameras.
@patsfreak A horse could fight a leopard, but it wouldn't willingly start a fight, unless it was defending itself or other horses. It's basically survival of the fittest, as both animals are capable of killing each other.

@@ckshrivastava768 Leopards wouldn't fight most animals as they are ambush predators. In a real hunting scenario, they can very well kill a horse, but face to face against a formerly wild stallion is when the tables turn, especially considering the leopards in the movie aren't fully grown.
Mustangs, especially. Since they had to fight off mountain lions.

@H1TMANactual That is true (no need to act cocky), but that doesn't mean horses haven't killed mountain lions too.
Horses are flight animals and Leopards are fight animals so the horse would probably try to run away.
Stallions are different tho. There was a video of a station that went after an alligator. They are very protective and strong animals that can kill pretty much anything with a kick to the head or heart even.
The director doesn't know that the leopard sound is like the sound of the tiger, but in these scene it sounds like an angry pussy cat.

If horse will kick on the face of leaoperd it will die in seconds

Yea bit disappointing. I'd like to hear that awesome roar. Nothing against Cougars. I like that sound too but this is out of place. Like hearing an elephant saying mooo. Just not the same.

@H1TMANactual Horses and buffalo deal with predators differently.
Stallion will fight to protect his herd esowcially the wild ones. Remember wild stallions fight each other for breeding rights every spring.

I dont think a leopard is strong enough to take down a horse. Maybe a cougar, lion, or jaguar could, but not a leopard. A horse could kill and overpower a leopard

Leopards have been known to take down full grown buffaloes - that's 3-4 times the size of a horse

In any fight your rules go out the window with the first move. Size doesnt necessarily matter. Luck has a lot to do with it.. is the first kick in a kill zone? Well dang its all over. Is the horse shod. Those iron shoes make a big difference. Dont think many buffalo wear iron shoes.

Worst part in the film. Why would they even need this bad cgi leopards in the film? It was totaly redudndant. Also in those parts of world leopards would be pretty expensive. Doubt someone would be using them as hunting dogs, when it would be easier to use gun.

The big cats in the movie are leopards.
Jaguars live in the Americas, and so couldn't possibly be found in Arabia. Leopards are from African/Asian areas, which includes Arabia.

Leopards can run at 35 mph.
Never underestimate the piwer of a horses kick. It is safwr to be a puppy than a full grown dog if a horse kicks you. Puppies fly and bounce and roll. Full grown animals get broken bones.
