  • I've finally gotten around to doing an updated review on the 6 Piece Craftsman power tool kit I'd purchased almost 5 years ago. In this video I'll be going over some of the issues I've had with them, mostly being caused by my misuse of the tools.
    If you're thinking about getting the set while it's on sale and comes with a free 4amp battery you can check it out here:

    The 4amp battery & charger with a free tool can be bought here:

    Battery packs are super easy to fix. It’s almost always just one cell is out and the bms shuts the whole pack down. Just take the case off and check each cell and when you find the bad one, just grab another 18650 and solder it in bad ones place.
    Another common problem issues that the packs have is damage to the traces on the board or cable. Again just find the problem and then just add a little solder to complete the circuit and you’re are back in business. Way too many people are scared to tinker with battery packs and the electrical parts of the tools. It’s all super easy

      Great info, appreciate it! I've actually held onto all of my old battery packs incase I wanted to try and fix them later on, just never looked into it. Sounds like it could be a good video later on when I've got the extra time. Going to pin your comment for others to see, thanks!

    I missed the sale. This 6 tool kit is now $299. I was going to buy it and then forgot from BLowe’s . Now waiting for the next sale if it comes. Presidents Day weekend didn’t have a sale for Craftsman. Now it’s only DEWALT sale. I have the Craftsman v20 tire inflator and the drill for my Camper Trailer. Was going to get the kit like this one for the house because the are pretty good. I didn’t want to get a different battery type and have a bunch of different chargers all over the place.

      Dang yeah that sucks you missed the sale but I'd originally got these in March or April during a spring sales event that I believe they do every year. So if you don't mind waiting a bit for that it'd probably be worth it to have everything using the same batteries as you mentioned. I didn't know they had a tire inflator though, thanks for mentioning that,,I may have to snag one up during the next sale!

      Same, have used them a lot since and they are pretty decent. Only issues I’ve had are the oscillating saw sanding pad getting worn down so I had to replace it and the leaf blower I recently purchased sucks batteries dry super quickly. The drill/driver are nothing to write home about, not very powerful but can do all the things I’ve needed. Wish the drill was a little higher rpm

    The V20 tools are really good. The RP Brushless are even better. I primarily use Dewalt, but I've got so select V20 RP tools and they are great.

    People select a brand for many different reasons. I am fairly sure I discovered your reason when you panned over and caught the red pickup on camera. XD

      Funny observation but that's not my truck it's a family members lol. I picked craftsman's power tools for both the price point and good experiences, at least with their hand tools, in the past. Even though their power tools are manufactured and rebranded in the same facilities as their "competitors".

    Right now May 2024 Craftsman is selling Batteries in Lowe's completely spoiled. 😢😢😢 I am thinking swap to Kobalt.Other thing Craftsman doesn't have a knife open with one hand. Craftsman has to reconsider the competence.

    Ive been using craftsman for awhile now. Ive had Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc. I hate the prices that those cost and honestly i cannot tell the difference in performance in those vs. Craftsman. With those higher end ones its not that they perform better its that you're paying for the name that is stamped into them. Personally craftsman has never failed me and their warranties on their products are great. People at work make fun of me all the time for having and owning craftsman but the thing is, is i see them bringing new drills, and impacts to work all the time they use "dewalt" because theirs has stopped working or the batteries have burned up. Not mine. Out of 7 batteries only 1 has failed but in all fairness it is 6 years old so thats to be expected. Lowes is having a sale on their 2 pack of 4 ah batteries with fast charger for $149 and you get to pick a free tool. Im going back once a week to claim that 😂 never can have too many batteries anyway.

      @WreckedRevival  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Haha yeah I definitely caught some flack for my Craftsman's at a couple construction jobs also, until the batteries out-lasted some of the big money brands anyway. I've heard that a lot of the "top tier" brands are actually manufactured in the same facilities as the "lower quality" tools just rebranded. There was also a video I watched on here where a guy disassembles, compares parts, did torque tests and the works. Showing they had basically the same components with very minor differences. If I find that video again I'll throw a link in the comments, it was pretty interesting to see!

      @WreckedRevival Exactly. Everything anymore is made in China. And I'm sure there are only a handful of factories in China that would specialize in the manufacturing of power tools, especially given the regulations and health hazard of lithium ion batteries, and the plastics, and metals used to build/make and assemble power tools. But yeah I get to save money and get great tools, people can talk all the bull they want I'm not going to let it wreck my day lol

    These brushless?

    • @WreckedRevival
      @WreckedRevival  Před 6 měsíci

      Apologize for the late reply! The normal electric hand tool kit you see here is brushed, the higher end professional RP series power tools are brushless.

    • @iphone9airsoft902
      @iphone9airsoft902 Před 5 měsíci +1

      What does brushless mean?

    • @WreckedRevival
      @WreckedRevival  Před 5 měsíci

      @iphone9airsoft902 it refers to the type of electric motor it is. Brushed have brushes that contact the commutator to send current to the coils creating a magnetic flux that rotates the rotor, brushless use a solid state drive to energize and switch the coils to rotate the rotor. Brushless typically last quite a bit longer, have less mechanical wear items, and produce more torque.

  • @InFltSvc

    NO! because it’s made in China

    • @WreckedRevival
      @WreckedRevival  Před 2 měsíci

      Some of the V20 power tools, like the drill/driver, impact driver, and hammer drill (that I know of) are actually manufactured in Fort Mill, South Carolina there's also Craftsman facilities in 11 other states. Craftsman and probably just about every other tool company sources parts from overseas. If everything were sourced, fabricated, molded, and manufactured strictly in the US costs would be extremely inflated/over priced.
