    My grandfather had a 165 Massey with a front loader. Was lots of fun driving it and I really miss those days. Now I live in a big city and hate every minute of it.

      It is never ever to late, I come from a small town in the Netherlands now live close to New York City on less than 1 acre and have 2 Massey Ferguson's an old Oliver Crawler and thinking of buying more tractors.

    I like the old Masseys. I'm slowly restoring an 1100D. I continue to be impressed with your solution on the shaft problem.

    I like to watch your channel because your equipment is more like what I grew up with. An 1100 was our large tractor. Back when there were actual family farms that didn’t have millions of dollars in equipment.

      Right on! This is all the still I grew up with, so I can relate. The 1805 was our big tractor, except dads was dualed up with 23.1-34’s. Made it look huge!

      I couldn’t agree more, I always thought these were good looking rigs, and pleasant to operate for the timeframe. The CAT engine takes a lot of guff too but I’ve never had any troubles. Used a ton less fuel than my 7520 JD did.

      3160-3208 were cheap and those tractors were small, 150-180 on the drawbar, rode smoother on the duals, 4500 hr machines with no trouble and then things would start happening

    • @thevox1075
      @thevox1075 Před rokem +1

      @@sheilamclaughlin963 yeah. I work on farm equipment, and it’s hard for me to put any brand solidly on a pedestal. They all have had good and bad products. Some products weren’t used like they should have been, we’re abused and then got a bad reputation. Overall, I think those tractors (with a few small improvements) are pretty solid. Now, John Deere enthusiasts will NEVER admit to a bad product, but I’ve seen quite a few!

    Same implement faster through mud with reduced compaction is what I understand these tractors to be all about. Another version of the snoopy 2+2 International. After the 60s power rush, us US farmers seemed to be obsessed with killing our tractors with ballast and loads. I think I read a commentary about Massey 4x4 from England and it didn't do so well there either because the mfwd design had taken off, even though the concept was well received initially.

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Před 2 lety +1

      I agree with that. I think if I use equipment meant for an 1155 or 150 horse tractor that 1805 will last me a long time and not give me too much issues. For what I do a 24-26 ft cultivator will make my day and be easy on that tractor

    A cultavator that small has even other benefits beside not pulling so hard on the Ferguson as to being amenable to smaller tractors, (which ya'll don't need with the 1805 as well as the 1800) but might have in the past. These tractors will provide much more value to you than money from selling unless by some miracle you got what they were worth. The one I would sell first is the 1805 which is worn out more than the 1800 but really neither one as they are your babies unless by some miracle you got twice the acreage for no money. Then you would need a massive disc and cultivator. Tilling with no breakdowns is a red letter day JT.

    Love that 1805, but it looks kinda funny without the dual wheels. I'm curious: Why did you take them off?

      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Před rokem

      The duals will be back on it before too long. I originally had to narrow it up to get in the barn, and it’ll be spending some time inside after the 1155 is done

    Do you have any of the part number information for your driveline parts? I would like to do this to my 1500 before I put it back together. Thanks

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Před 2 lety +2

      I used a 3-3-508 female shaft, 3-82-58x male shaft, 2 NON greasable ujoints(they’re stronger), 3-28-97 weld yoke for the trans side. Welded to the 5/8 plate. 3-2-429 flange yoke on the flywheel side. The flywheel plate will have to be drilled and tapped. These are the parts I used, with some machine work. If I do it again, I’ll go with a larger “wing” style setup but it seems to be holding its own with the 1410 series parts now

    putting a clutch pack in our 1966 1100. seems to ""pause", then take off again, not lug down, while pulling in the field. any advice to do anything else or look for anything while its split open. thanks

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Před 2 lety +1

      When you say clutch pack, are you referring to the Multi-power clutch pack, or the main clutch? I assume the MP clutch, if you are getting pauses when pulling I would check 1, the filter in the sump of the trans, 2, if it is a early model it will have a in line MP filter near or above the clutch pedal linkage. From there, I assume the main filter in the nose is changed I’d start checking the pump pressures on both pumps. Finally I’d check the MP valve to be sure it’s not sticking. Hope this helps!

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Před 2 lety

      Make sure your alternator is charging, and test for power at the at the + on the tach when the tractor is running. I’d say if you have those two maybe you have a faulty tach?

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Před 2 lety

      Just thought of this possibly too, when it is running you might try adjusting the needle position on the back with the little tool they provide, it might be pegged at 0 unlike mine that went to full send when I first fired it up.
