7 years later this video is still helping us DIYers. Thanks!!! I will remember it won't go as perfect as you showed it but I guess you won't come do it for me.....
Christine, you are awesome. I love this kind of continent because itâs called Evergreen. Seven years is still valid. Thank you for sharing and your door is going to be awesome!
This is the best repair video I've seen as in includes closing the door to make sure it's a snug fit without a large gap between door and jamb. Excellent!
Thank you Lost I appreciate the comment!
Thanks for this video. You mentioned your truck was raided. Not sure if this is your own house that got broken into as well, but man, if so, you really know how to turn lemons into lemonade! That's super awesome. Thanks for being so helpful.
thanks for sharing!
Well done professor. Knowledge is power.
Thank you my friend
This was an awesome video! Broke into my own home cuz my girl locked us out and I went into caveman mode instead of calling a locksmith. Glad someone like you exist, gonna save me a ton of time and money.
thats right Faiya! weve got tons of videos just as good in case you decide to tear up more stuff around the house! thanks for watching!
FAIYA this just happened to me today and I did the same thing and I regret it I'm only 14 living with my parents and I hope it's not hard or expensive my dad isn't a handy guy. We all make mistakes
cassie doucette i hear you. It definitely takes a little work to get it done, I actually didn't go all the way with this. I kind of pieced it back together lol
FAIYA man shame shit happened rn these women be trippin
FAIYA yeah, my man did this too. Scary thing is I didnât even hear it to wake up. Sad thing is there was a spare key hidden on the porch. Love spending my day off just working on the house.
I'm a writer and needed to know how to fix a character's broken doorjamb-- thanks for making this some of the easiest story research I've ever done! I'm also feeling kinda inspired to actually do some DIY, so thanks again. Great job, and sorry to hear about your door!
DrBids dr! You are awesome. I'm so glad I could help. As a writer myself, I know about the research end of it, I mean , we have to know what we're talking about. Lol. Thanks so much for sharing!
This video is so much more helpful than the "professional" videos. Very simple and easy to follow instructions! Very helpful!
Awesome Erik thanks for sharing.
I watched several videos and yours was the most helpful. Thank you so much for posting it. I was able to change my door jamb. First time ever doing that. But it came out pretty decent. There were some things that didn't quite go the way your video instructed but I think it was just the craftsmanship from the person before (on my door) but I figured it out. But huge thanks!
you are awesome Lila! You made me a success..so happy it worked out for you and yes I am favoriting your comment! thanks so much for sharing!
Dustin, Excellent tutorial! Your teaching, videography and carpentry skills are A-1! Outstanding! Thanks.
awesome wd..thank you so much.. hearting this comment!
Great video. No music, to bs talk, no tools advertising - straight to the point. This is the guy that really wants to share.
Robert B Thank you Robert we appreciate you saying so and thanks for sharing!
Accidentally busted through my front door playing around just an hour ago. Now I'm prepared. Great video, great production. Hopefully I can make it look as good. Thanks
+Roddy Carleton thanks for watching rowdy roddy!
I fixed it over the course of a few hours. Wasn't equipped with a drill, so I had to chisel and use a finish nail tap for the holes for deadbolt and door handle latch. Friend also made a hasty cut on the door casing so it was an inch short, lol. Easy fix with some wood glue and a short extra piece cut to fit the bottom. Also messed up with the jamb, a little too much space at the bottom side of the door, between the door and the jamb itself. But now I know how to do it for sure! thanks a ton
I just bought a salvage door from Habitat for Humanity (door was just 40 bucks) and it measures 2/16th smaller in width. You just solved my dilemma! I will buy the door jamb casing and pick up some shims and liquid foam spray. This 64+ yr old is not afraid to fix anything with youtube studying first!
Hey Dawn this is an awesome comment. thank you so much for sharing. You could also â not â recess the hinges. Push the door over a little bit which might solve your problem you are awesome thank you for commenting!
@@homemend Hi Dustin! Thank you for your comment. I have found another problem with door jamb AND strike plate that was attached to the house of mine. They put the strike plate on both the trim and door jamb. If I am correct, I believe if I change out the frame in its entirety, I could then set the door properly. I noticed that my door is 3/16th wider than the previous door and therefore thought I should just redo the framing. What do you think?
not wider, but thicker. 1 11/16 instead of the other door being just 1 1/2"
That does sound like the best solution dawn. Thatâs a large door to fit in that hole.
This video is very instructive. I have to replace a whole frame door in my house. I'm gonna do it myself tomorrow. Thank you so much for your expertise. Happy Holidays đ!
Youâre amazing Joseph I would love to know how it comes out

+Jhonny Garcia thats what were here for. thanks for watching!
Nice video! A steel exterior door, long throw deadbolt(s) and a piece of 1/8" angle iron behind that jamb from floor to ceiling (nailed liberally into the rough framing members and drilled for the deadbolts) won't stop people from kicking in that door again, but will definitely slow them down.
thats it joseph!....it will sure make noise too....thanks for the suggestions!

Ooh man!! Thank you for the easy instructions. Just moved into my apartment. Nice one, but sadly, the maintenance ppl don't know how to repair the busted up door jam. You have to slam the door shut just to lock it. Now I know what to do. Show them sad for excuse so called"maintenance" crew how it's supposed to be done. đđŒ Would've been nice if you could do it for me. đđȘ

I love it when he just kicks the ends of the "shims" off rather than using a utility knife. It looks like his shims are paint stirring sticks too. Seems like a cool dude.
