Thank you so much for the support and I will see you on the next one!
I’m a certified installer for lowes and Home Depot. Let me tell you, you nailed this on the head! Super great work and very detailed. Thanks for showing everyone how things are done right!
Why is a certified installer for Home Depot and Lowe’s watching a video on how to install a door 🤔 this just shut assures me not to hire any Home Depot employees. Haha.
@@dylanhowes2885 first things first, this came up on my recommendation videos, so if I watch it that’s on me wanting to watch a video not on my level of knowledge for door installs. So that’s up to you man if you want to hire them. I could care less hahahahahaha
@dylanhowes2885 it's professional courtesy. He's not watching cause he doesn't know how to do his job he's watching to see if the other guy knows what they're doing. Which, obviously he does since the guy thanked him for his thoroughness. Doesn't make him unqualified in the slightest.
Any chance you could post the paint brand and color? Really like it!
@@dylanhowes2885 what area do you service?
Great video! After watching this I’ve learned that installing a front door is a pain in the ass and I’m going to pay somebody to do it for me.
😂😂
I'm in the same boat, but I've found out they charge pain in the ass prices as well😂
Honestly the door color isn't awful. More unique. I like it.
the sill pan, the waterproof tape, the OSI caulk, the spray foam insulation. Everything was textbook brother very impressed! You killed it! Love the color of the door and hardware combo.
Appreciate the support! Thanks for watching!
That bit of information really helped me out since I’m in the middle of a remodel and wasn’t aware of the sill pan product. Nice to always learn from your videos 👏
I salute your skills, sir. This is a great video-showed me that this is something I don’t have the tools or skills to do myself! 😂
I love the color of your door. Doors should speak. Yours does.
Thanks!! I'm about to tackle that project, soo.... had the door for a few months now...
you gave me some good tips to follow, appreciate it!
I like your door color! You should have no regrets! Thanks for showing the sill pan and other waterproofing, most other videos skipped that!
I appreciate it!
What a great video. I now feel confident I can replace my front door.
The color looks great. The hardware is great too! Another awesome video!
Thanks for the support, Matt!
Yeah the color is entirely awesome. Really draws me in. Love it.
Very detailed! Thank you man for the tips
Great job, thank you for the knowledge !
You're great. I appreciate the time the detail, and please keep going
You are an EXCELLENT speaker & teacher
This was the most detailed and easy to understand video I have watched on CZcams. Thank you so much for your attention to detail and level of excellence.
I appreciate it! I’m glad it was helpful👍
This is by far the best video on CZcams on exterior door installation. It covered every step along the way. I will say in my house in particular, since it's a bit older, the frame was a VERY tight fit into the side of the house which presented some challenges. It's never as easy as you see online or TV, but that said, this video was the best guide I found.
Glad it helped and thanks for watching!
I'm in the middle of replacing the rear exterior door on my home built in 1985. The gap between the door frame and rough framing is tiny, and my rear siding is basically a reverse of the brick mold shown on this door, where the door frame is hidden by the siding itself.
Next step is to cut away all the nails holding the frame on, then I'll be ready to pull the door out. Hopefully the tight fit doesn't present too many challenges!
Thank you for the video, I know how to renovate my old front door. Very useful.
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching 👍
@@AndrewThronImprovements Hi, I like your products well and want to know you more, can you follow back?
I love ❤ that color. Works very well with the hardware color
Thank you for this video! I sold my newer home and purchased a older home, not realizing it needed more work. Luckily for I know how to work with my hands. I’ve learned lots from CZcams university lol this little 9 minute video didn’t not miss anything
Subscribed. Nice video. Very instructive. And you said "iterative." Wowsers.
This is a great video! Thanks
Great door color!
I can agree drilling through the door for the knob hardware was intimidating for me as well. I almost called someone but did it myself with success. I used the included template which made it super easy.
Love the color of the door cool!! 🤩👍
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Awsome! Thank you.
Super helpful!! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Great video and beautiful color on the door. Thanks!

Love that color.
Thanks Patrick!!
@@AndrewThronImprovements Andrew; I had to watch the vid again 'cause I forgot the color! Glad I did as I missed that awesome closet door - the slider or barn door. Beautiful. I really am looking forward to the videos you planned for this summer. Thanks for the reply. Patrick
I love the door color.
Thanks!!
Props, from a dyi'er. I'm gonna do that myself soon. Looks great!!!
Appreciate it and good luck!
Good job ✊🏿 I would hire you any day
Hi great video. I'm looking to install a front entry door and I'm noticing that some doors have a sill plate that's either flush with the interior flooring (wood, LVP, tile, etc.) or some that are below the flooring which is your case. When you ordered your door, what measurements did you use to measure your rough opening and determine the height of your threshold? Some manufacturers have taller or shorter thresholds so I'd like mine to be as flush with my interior flooring as possible to avoid a tripping hazard. After removing my threshold, the sill plate is flush with my LVP flooring so I'm not sure if I should remove the sill plate to take the rough opening measurement or measure from top of sill plate to bottom of my header. Also what did you use to transition from your threshold to floor for the finishing touch? Thanks!
Good job bud
FWIW, I really like the color.
great video as always. you had me till you said iterative then I had to stop and look it up Haha
Nice and to the point
Thanks for watching!
Awesome
Hey Andrew! Thanks for this! Personally I really like the colour, and finish, of your new door! Very tasteful, and a nice contrast with its surrounds. Oh, one question I’m sure many others would love to know the answer to too; how long did all of this take, and over how long a period (i.e. x hours total over y days; clearly the weather will influence this)? Cheers, Steve!👌 .. 😀
I like the colour of the door😊
Thanks! It’s grown on me, too
Nice
I love the door colour! Not sure why you highly regret it.
It’s growing on me! All I could think of was the Smurfs when I first painted it. Thanks for watching!
@@AndrewThronImprovements Ha ha. That's funny. It's not quite the same colour, but since it got stuck in your head, I get it! Lol
Great work! I need to replace an exterior backdoor, much the same as this video. How much should I look to pay? Thanks.
Do you remember what color and sheen you used? It looks great!
You made it look easy. How long did it take you to do? I've got one of these jobs coming up.
Did the trim for the interior portion come with the door or is that something that needs to be putchased separately?
Great video, thank you! And I really like the color that you chose... what is it called and why do you regret it?
Thanks for this video! Overall, how many days did this take and what was your final budget?
Cool🤩
Thanks for watching!
great video...would this work for the laundry door needs to be replace...i have to remove all the frame made out of wood sides....top and sides, how do i nail the wood to the concrete? THX.....
How’d you know what size door? Did you measure just the door? The full set or?
Do you have an installed video on that barn door we want to do that in the hallway and the condo for the bathroom saves a lot of space
Nice job, I would have insulated under the door though
What is your door color and what brand?
Do prehung exterior doors typically have exterior brick molding attached? If so, can it be removed easily? I have ranch molding and not sure the dimensions are the same.
hey Andrew, thanks for the great video- love that blue!... can you please share the name/Brand of the color you used on this door? TIA
What about replacing a door that doesn't have brickmould and has vinyl j-trim and siding against the jamb?
What’s the type of siding on the house? I need to replace some pieces but don’t know what it’s called😅
This might be a long shot since the video was made a year ago but I have a question for you. I am trying to replace my front door since it is about 70-80 years old and its very drafty. How do you go about measuring the prehung door frame/mold without taking my door and existing fram apart?
What door model did you buy?
👍🏿And that easy I’m in….
Wow
Only thing I would add is watch what spray foam you use. There are some that expand more than others.
Make sure to use low expansion foam or it will ruin your reveal
Good tip!
What door did u use
How much did the door’s threshold hang over the sill pan?
How long does this take? How many hours
You may want to show your subscribers how to extend the door jamb. I noticed your door does not come flush to the sheet rock inside the house. Couldn't really tell how you overcame that issue!
It’s doesn’t need to be flush with the drywall. The molding will cover it anyway.
@@colleeneverett4279 Sorry, but you are 100% wrong. The door needs to be flush with drywall on the interior of the house. You will need to add a extension jamb to the door or you will have a 1/2 or more gap from the door jamb to new interior trim. Look at the 6:15 mark in the video. That door is not even/flush with the interior drywall.
Correct. Flush with drywall on hinge side always. Remove brick mould, extend the jambs and put back brick mould.
How did you measure for new door
Great video and love the color on the door! Can you tell me about the house number? Is it DIY or purchased. Where can I get one?
Appreciate it, Rob! Believe it or not, I actually made that those house numbers with some scrap lumber. Tutorial video is linked here: czcams.com/video/E1CWU3_YT1E/video.html
@@AndrewThronImprovements Thanks man, super cool.
Still trying to find a video showing concrete walls. All have been wood.
I have had 2 handymen come and not be able to really finish the trim around the door. I have exposed wood on either side so it seems like we’re in the “reveal stage” and there were gaps around the door frame. Do you have any suggestions for I guess working backwards since the door is already installed?
To be clear, the door is hung and the exposed wood to button up any of the gaps so that pests/water can’t enter.
Paldies par informaciju 1:17
Home Depot wants $600 in addition to what I paid for the door for the material and labor to install the door! I might try this myself. Is this an average cost?
What is exactly do I need to buy and how much is it roughly
I've got an old house with an odd size jamb width. Since I'll have some wiggle room with a 4 1/2" jamb, should I position the new door flush with the exterior or interior?
Hmmm - I would say put it flush with the exterior since you will want to Seal the gaps from water. Might want to consult with a pro if it's really strange. Thanks for watching! Appreciate the support!
@@AndrewThronImprovements I wonder if I should put on jamb extensions to get me close to flush. I'm a bit confused on what to do with the storm door when it comes to the brick molding that the new door comes with. Do most folks take that off or alter it to get the storm door situated?
@@AndrewThronImprovements Wrong. Flush it with interior.
You need to add jamb extensions to the exterior side.
Flushing with exterior and then adding extenstion on the inside will cause the door to bind/not fully open.
Do you need a sill plate if the floor underneath is concrete?
You do not need a sill plate on concrete. The door can be placed directly on top of the concrete. Apply door sealant/adhesive on clean concrete and place door into opening. Caulk underneath door sill plate where it meets concrete.
i thought almost all exterior door assembly came with sill pan attached to kick plate already. Is this not true?
Awesome
Video and the door looks great
Thank you so much!
3:48 Is this correct? I thought you should never tape the top. Only the sides and the bottom. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
What color was the door?
what brand is that front door? its so hard to find a door that looks that good in the UK for some reason edit: oh sorry i just saw it but no link.
No sweat - it's a Therma-Tru which I believe is a Lowe's brand. Thanks for watching!
You should have insulated beneath the door..
Why didn't you insulate those cavities before putting the sill plate on?
What color# is it exactly?
Whatcha got for me on installing a storm door where one has never been before my man?
What do you do if the wood underneath is starting to become rotten 😬
The sheet rock sticks out farther than the door on the inside how did you fix that
Not sure why you regret that color because it looks awesome with your base color!
What color did you paint the door? That’s actually the color I want 😂
I think the Color is great, just paint it white on the inside.
any reason why someone would want to remove the entire door with the jamb and not remove the door first at the hinges?
