Our full review, features, and a demo of the Skylight Digital Calendar, and how we use it in our family. It is so wonderful to have all of our events and appointments displayed at home as well as on the app. We love the chores and the meal plan options!
We have had this calendar for over 6 months, and we use it every day!

this looks amazing. exactly what i was looking for in a review. thank you!
I'm so glad it was helpful! We love it!
Very helpful review. I'm considering the purchase. Thank you!
I'm so glad it was helpful!
Super thorough and helpful review, thank you!
Thanks for the in-depth review! Think we will go with this over the Echo Show or Dakboard.
I hope you love it as much as we do!
Great job. Your gonna go far with CZcams
I have been looking for a really nice daily planner, but I feel I may have found my calendar. You did an amazing job demonstrating this. Thank you. I do not have children to put chores on this, but I just want as a nice calendar to keep track of appointments etc.. Do you think it is worth it just to buy for that, and the grocery list and a few of the other options.
Thank you so much! I do think it is worth it! It looks really nice sitting out. I love that it is digital - I can change events without scratching it out like on a paper calendar, and I can add, delete and edit from my phone calendar and it automatically updates. You can also set up reminders for events that pop up on the calendar, and you could use the chores option as more of a check-list if you want to! I hope this helps!
@@reviewswithandrews Thank you! I think I will buy it. I am tired of little notes, iphone notes, things in all different places that this may take care of that. Really appreciate your feedback. Thank you! May I ask where you purchased yours?
@@bee3027 No problem! We really love ours! I purchased mine on the Skylight website! We have the 15" calendar, but if you want a smaller one, they also have a 10" calendar on the Skylight website.
The 15" Skylight Calendar is also available on Amazon - here is my link if you choose to order there: linktw.in/OvpVWv

@@reviewswithandrews Thank you & I will buy it from Amazon.
Thanks for this review! Can you control options, changes via mouse? Or only touching the screen?
You're welcome! You can make changes on the app, or by touching the screen. It doesn't work with a mouse.
Hi! Does it ping you when you have an event coming up? I’m looking at something that can work as a reminder too so i know i have something up when i pings me. :)
That is a great question! Yes, it can! In the calendar settings (on the actual calendar), there is a Reminders section. This lets you turn on reminders for events, set the reminder for at the time of event or before, and turn on a sound. I tried it out - I added an event to my apple calendar that I have synced to the Skylight and the reminder popped up and the calendar played a sound! :)
Interesting product. I love the familywall app. Wonder if something like this is necessary
I have not used the familywall app. We love this because my kids are younger and they do not all have their own devices. They can add directly from the Skylight calendar and I can add on my phone calendar which I have linked. It seems the opposite of what we usually look for - one device that can do many things, but having this Skylight device that is only a calendar and nothing else has been huge for us! It stays in its spot and works wonderfully!
Does your calendar make a phantom click/noise about 4 seconds after to perform an item on the device? For example, you select the + to add an event and then exit/cancel out of it. Wait for 4 seconds, does it make a click noise?
I just tried it on ours, and it did not. I did notice that sometimes the little "tick" sound is a bit delayed, but nothing consistent on ours.
Thank you for such a thorough review. I came across this online by accident and then happened to see it at a customers house the next day. Love the look thank you again for such a thorough review. I just have one question. Can the calendar be displayed vertical or is it horizontal only?
@NorPacPatriot I am so glad this was helpful! We really love it and use it all the time! It can only be displayed horizontally.
I just read that when their next calendar (Calendar Max) is released, all of theSkylight Calendars will be able to be support Portrait orientation!
I am considering this. I would like to see if it syncs with my Google calendar
When I go to sync a calendar on my Skylight app, it gives me a gmail option. It lets me add a Google Calendar. I haven't gone past that since we don't use Google Calendars much, but it should be good since they have a place to add it.
Does the monitor have HDMI plug so you can display on a larger screen? Or the ability to cast to another screen? The software is exactly what we need.
It does not have an HDMI port, and I don't think you can cast to another screen. Skylight has a presale right now for their new Calendar Max which has a 27 inch screen compared to this 15 inch screen. That one may be worth checking out!
I need one of these that handles 10 people and is also compatible with Apple Watches. Our littles don’t get phones so they use watches.
This can have 10 people for chores/calendars on it. It is more just a calendar in place though. If they each have their own calendar on their Apple Watch, I would think you could sync that to the calendar if you want to see their events. I may have to try it. My oldest just got an Apple Watch. I just add everything to my calendar at the moment. I'm sure that will change as they grow.
So, I'm looking at something like this for myself because I do best when I have my to-do list out in front of me, but a digital option where I can just use my phone when I'm on the go seems a lot easier than trying to carry a paper planner back and forth. I'm just wondering if it's something that could work for a single person. I don't have a family or kids- it's just me and my ADHD brain.
I absolutely think it would work! You can add to your calendar on your phone and add things to To Do lists or Grocery lists from the app. Then you can see the calendar and lists on the Skylight Calendar.
Does it create a shared calendar for all family members, or does it also provide each family member with their own calendar? Lastly, when a family member enters something into a shared calendar, does it alert you?
My husband and I both use our apple calendars and have them synced to the Skylight. When my husband adds something to his apple calendar, it shows up on the Skylight. When my kids add activities directly to the calendar, it does not show up on my apple calendar. It does show up on the calendar on the Skylight app. It does not alert you. I hope this helps!
What is the difference between having and not having the monthly subscription?
It was mentioned briefly about the screensaver.
But what else?
Thinking about this for my wife for Mother's Day, but jw if i should do the subscription option or not.
I think it would be perfect for Mother's Day!
The subscription allows you to show pictures on your Skylight Calendar. You can upload pictures and videos that you would like shown, and it acts like a digital photo frame when it isn't in use. It also includes Magic Import - I think this is new - which says you can forward any email or PDF containing dates and they will convert into events on your calendar. We do not have the subscription, and we like the calendar showing all of the time!
@@reviewswithandrews Thank you 😊
How do you add the confetti when completing a chore? Mines doesn’t show the confetti.
I didn't add it I don't think... Ours shows confetti when the last chore (per person) is finished. So when my son marks off his last chore for the day, it shows confetti.
Does it remind you what to do when? I feel like, for someone with ADHD, it would get forgotten on the wall, just like our paper calendar. I need more micromanagement.
The calendar does not have notifications. You can turn on notifications on your phone through the app, so you can get notified that way.
Do you have to have a subscription to use the app. Or is the subscription just for the photos?
The subscription is just for the photos. We do not pay for the subscription.
I’m also searching for an digital calendar solution. Is it possible to change the language in German?
I have not found anywhere to change the language.
Do you need wifi for this device to work?
Yes! The Skylight calendar uses Wifi.
It can show chores, but only for 5 people!? For something that is MOST USEFUL for large families, the limitation of 5 people seems like a strange choice by the designers.
In the recent update, they changed this! You can now add chores for more people! Just to test it out, I added up to 11 "people" before I stopped. :) We have 6 of us so I am super excited!
Oh, thank you so much for updating me on that! I’m considering getting this for my family of 6
You are welcome! I love that they are making changes and updating it as they find what people need!@@mattc7939
can you print from this?
No, I don't believe you can print from it.
Do you know does this integrate to Alexa list?
i have the same question... would be nice
That is a great question! My initial thought is no. I have an idea to try as a work around. I will let you know if I find something that works!
@@neutralmotive That would be really handy! I have my kids add to the list on the calendar instead of Alexa. :)
Can you add by speaking?
You can not add by speaking directly to the calendar. I can add things by voice if I go in and add an event on the app. I can use my phone voice to text. But this is all outside of the calendar itself.
Chores for only 5 people at this price? What a bummer. There are 6 of us :(
They updated it!! You can now add chores for more people! Just to test it out, I added up to 11 "people" before I stopped. :) We have 6 of us as well so I am super excited!
Why is it yet another screen ? It could be a simple app !
I get it! But the Skylight calendar stays right in its place. My kids don't have their own devices so an app doesn't help them. The iPad or phone moves depending on who is using it. This is stays right in its spot, isn't used for anything else, and always available for anyone to look use. I use the app at times, but it doesn't replace the calendar for us!
Chores for only 5 people?
Good News! The most recent update allows chores for more than 5 people!! :). I added 11 people and it works - you just have to scroll on the calendar to see them all.
Thank you! Yeah, I emailed them. I believe there is no limit to the number of people nor is there a limit to the number of calendars that you can sync. Wonderful! @@reviewswithandrews
@@mattmcbee7336 That is great! Thank you!
If you need something to remind you to do a chore such as mopping on Saturday, this is for OCD people only. Also, the Google calendar sucks lol
Oh, but it is great for my kids! Each day, their lists pop right up. They know what to do without asking me and complete and check off everything! It is amazing!
I also imagine a product like this would be incredibly ADHD friendly. And things that are ADHD friendly make life easier for everyone! :)
That's very judgemental, superior, and ableist. This product is great for neurodivergent people, such as folks with ADHD.
Are you ok?
