      @@abdulhadikhan3744 I forgot I posted this 7 years ago, but basically Wimbledon 2014 which shortly followed might be the most significant grand slam win of his career.
      He went into the final against Federer, with a 6-7 record in grand slams finals, including losing his last 3 and 5 out of his last 6, plus also losing the 2013 RG semi-final against Nadal which was pretty much the de-facto final. He was already a great player of course, but had he lost yet another grand slam final that day, I think it would have been extremely difficult for him to put himself in the conversation to be one of the greatest if not the greatest.
      From that day onwards he has had a hugely impressive 13-3 record in grand slam finals.

      meditating010 Federer’s form from 2010-2013 is what ultimately will cost him in the final tally of GS’s. Nadal and Djok haven’t had a loss of form quite as lengthy as Fed did back then. He just seemed to lose matches in a similar sort of way time and time again.
      I think Fed and Djok stand alone when it comes to the GOAT debate, their levels of consistency are something else. But I’m sure Rafa fans could make a strong case too.

    9:10 I love that extended grunt from Novak. He came back from 2-5 down to win the set 7-5. He finished the set with his trademark backhand down the line winner. I love to see the fire in Novak's eyes after that point. 🔥🎾🇷🇸

    • @davi.poiani
      @davi.poiani Před 2 lety +7

      Indeed, indeed!!... I consider this extended grunt to be iconic for a lot of reasons and I'll explain why:
      1. It was a longer grunt as if he already knew before hitting the shot it was going to be a clean winner, and he knew indeed.
      2. He came back from 5-2 in that set, and to do that against Roger, who was playing really well by the way, is remarkable.
      3. He first became top 10 in March 2007 and already from July on that year was mostly established in the top 3. In other words, he'd been knocking on the door for quite some time.
      4. But even so, he was still struggling with his health problems that would frequently cause him trouble... By the beginning of 2011, he had already figured that out by removing gluten from his diet. That was just like cutting off the chains and cuffs which were preventing a wild animal to run free.
      5. At the same time he knew that shot was going to be a winner, it was also as if he was already aware of his potential to be one of the greatest (up until then he was far from it), and deep inside he knew that. All geniuses probably have kind of a gut felling about it.
      6. To be at the top in that context was to challenge not only Roger, the best to ever have picked up a racket, but also Rafa, another giant. It is never easy to break through when there is already an established rivalry so iconic as Federer vs Nadal.
      6. That grunt said: "I am here, I know my potential and I am going to prove it on the court, you'll see that happen"
      7. Beating Roger in this match (more so than the final against Murray), marks the unleash of this beast with a racket named Djokovic that he became that year... and he went on to guarantee there would be this three-fold entity called Big 3: the Lion, the Bull and the Wolf.

      Я не думаю, что он умственный зверь, он как показала дальнейшая его игра всего лишь лучший в туре в защите. Как стена. И Федерер очень часто не мог пробить эту защиту. Рисковал, и как следствие ошибался. Да ещё в ключевых моментах. И это конечно же его нервировало очень. Что было как раз на руку Джокеру. Вот и вся его игра( Джоковича) отзащищаться, перетерпеть на задней линии, взять измором. Сломить соперника, заставить рисковать. Дождаться невунужденой ошибки. Сколько таких матчей он выиграл? На ошибках Федерера? Единственное в чем он превосходит Роджера, это в настрое и в психологии. В остальном Федерер сам ему все отдавал.

And the man was almost 38 years old. When his most dangerous rivals are disabled or old he wins.
      In 2018 Federer reached 20 GS, Nadal had 14 and NoVax DjokeCovid 14. These 3 players were pros playing in the same tournaments. He started to win easy GS when the best players were old or injured. Alcaraz was injured and he won. Is easier to win like that. Between these.players Federer, Nadal and NoVax DjokeCovid in that order are the best

  • @davi.poiani
    @davi.poiani Před 2 lety +41

    9:10 I consider this extended grunt to be iconic for a lot of reasons and I'll explain why:

    • @mamba24ever8
      @mamba24ever8 Před 2 lety +6

      Very very well said. I actually came back to watch this video specifically for this extended grunt because I also see the iconic nature of this moment esp in hindsight over a decade later. Federer and Nadal used to be mental hurdles for djokovic to overcome in terms of believing he could beat them. This grunt almost reversed that dynamic; from here on, djokovic became the man to beat that Fedal now had to chase after his diet change and mental fortitude training. In short, the wolf was born.

    Along with 2015, 2019, and 2001...
    2011 was one of Roger’s best years where he *didn’t* win a Grand Slam. He certainly didn’t play any worse than in 2010 at all. He was still the player in the spotlight that year but Djokovic started making one of his own and Rafa was getting back in his at the end of the year.
    I’d say it was the most even/evenly-matched year between the three of them!

      Fed won’t win another so he’s stuck at 20, Novak? Hahaha. Hilariously, his opponents are still cheered even though he’s top seed for 2 years & beating EVERYBODY. I knew it the second he arrived on tour, and now it’s real. Rafa may win the French again but hard to see him win any other. Novak on the other hand, owns The Australian & arguably Wimbledon, only the US open is trickier for him, but Rafa’s not going to win there again anyway.
