So often, people put in seats that clearly don’t belong in a Defender. Especially when the seats have those loops over the shoulder to accommodate a non existent 4-point harness.
These seats though look like a factory option 👌

A Defender is a strange vehicle.
Because it was designed to have 3 seats they're actually quite narrow and because they bolt to the seat-box the seats have quite thin bases.
Seats out of most normal cars are either too wide or they make the seating position much too high.
Because of this, ironically enough, the most popular replacement seats for Defenders tend to come out of sportscars... which is why they have slots for harnesses.
IIRC, seats out of a Mazda RX7 were always a recommended choice for these reasons.
Course, ANY replacement seat that doesn't allow you to remove the base means you lose access to the battery box.

Interesting video, but for future reference, may I suggest you would be better releasing as 2 videos: one on replacing the seat belts (which is actually most of this video) and the other on fitting the new Exmoor seats. I'm thinking that people looking for your excellent information on replacing the seat belts might not find your really useful info as the title makes no mention of seat belts.
Anyhow, I'll be telephoning you this week, as I need new seats for my Ex-military 1987 NINETY. The problem being finding appropriate seat mounts to fit the military version.
Once again, thank you for these useful videos 👍

Thanks for the comments. The holes in a military 90 or 110 are in the same place as civilian. So regular seats will drop straight in. You'll need some of the packer washers on each bolt too.

Those seats are VERY expensive compared to, say, buying a couple of seats out of a Disco' for £150 off eBay.
Trouble is, with the battery living under the seat, you really shouldn't be fitting a seat that prevents you getting into the battery box - which means these are your only smart choice.
And, if you've got a modified Defender, with extra wiring and fuses in the seat-box, it's doubly important to retain access.
Personally, I was thinking about buying these for my last Defender but I decided I'd try fitting new covers to the original seats first.
I figured if I wasn't happy with the results I could flog the original seats (with the new covers fitted) to recoup what I spent on the covers and then buy the Urban seats.
Ordered a pair of half-leather seat trim kits and various replacement bits of foam from Exmoor.
Fitting them was kind of fiddly but straightforward.
The results were abso-f**king-lutely BRILLIANT! 👍
Even buying the seat trim kits was a big decision because I could easily have bought a pair of used seats for the same money but they were worth every penny.
The new foam gave the seats their shape back and the covers looked absolutely mint.
If you're thinking of recovering your Defender seats my only advice would be to watch a couple of CZcams video's beforehand and take the old seat covers off CAREFULLY so you understand how they're assembled, which'll allow you to fit the new covers correctly.
Even if your covers are ripped to shreds, if you just cut them off you won't have a clue how to fit the new ones.
And if that all sounds like a faff, just dig deep and buy the Urban seats.
You'll regret fitting seats out of a Disco, or whatever.

Hi i was hoping you could help me. Ive just fitted heated seats to my defender 90. but when i fitted them i went the ignition side of power, so when i turn the ignition off the heated seats go off as well.
but you went straight to the battery. my question is have i done this wrong and should i have gone to the battery or am I ok with what Ive done
    thanks regards Kevin

Hi kev, I think you're fine so long as you've included the in line fuses. Might even be a better solution as it is possible to leave the seats on and drainthe battery in mine!

Thank you for getting back to me.

I really see no reason why I would want to replace the front seats of my 2014 Defender
