Azov Song / Battle for Mariupol

The legendary Azov, which the Russians have been chasing for 9 years, was formed on 5 May 2014 from volunteers (then a battalion, after 2014 it would grow to a regiment), in the midst of the battles for Ukrainian Donbas. At that time, the Azov battalion was baptised in the battles for Maryinka, Ilovaisk, Shyrokyne, and one of the most important achievements of the Azov battalion was the liberation of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, located on the shores of the Azov Sea. With the beginning of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation on 24 February 2022, the Azov people continued to fulfil their duties to the state. From 24 February to 20 May 2022, Azov soldiers defended their Mariupol... 82 days of fierce fighting in complete encirclement.
On 20 May 2022, on the orders of Ukraine's top leadership, the defenders of Mariupol withdrew from Azovstal and surrendered. That was the end of this battle, which has already gone down in history as one of the bloodiest of the war. But one thing has remained unchanged: Azov exists, which means its ideas live on! Today, Azov is a 3-strong assault brigade. The Russians tried to destroy the regiment, but a whole brigade was born to replace the dead and wounded from Mariupol. So, glory to the Azov soldiers who found their lives on the battlefield. Azov-steel!

"technically" its like 10-20% nazis(according to the unit themselves, atleast from what i remember) but nowadays its more like mostly just a bunch of nationalist i guess you could say? def has had/still has some nazi elements and a shady past but it isn't like 100% nazis as russian propaganda will constantly say and talk down on the Ukrainians for using them, while ignoring the fact they have Rusich and(atleast before the coup) the Fucking Wagner group, which I'd argue is worse, but eh both have nazi elements so pick your poison really.

Part of the deal for them joining as an official arm of the Ukrainian military was they would no longer be directly owned by Nazis and they’ve since had higher membership from non Nazis. Also if you want anyone risking their lives wouldn’t you want it to be Nazis?
