  • Welcome back folks! The past few weeks I've been tinkering away on this 1971 Volvo 142. It's a 4 speed manual, air conditioned car with 200,000 miles on it! Come along as we dig through it and try to get it functional.

I drove a ‘72 142E from Tucson Az to Poughkeepsie NY in 1982, to attend culinary school. With a pregnant wife, morning sickness. My then-17 year old nephew then put an overdrive on it. In my driveway. In the dark. In the rain. And it worked. Loved that car.

Happy to see that someone is fixing up these old Volvos .... I have a bit of a project car myself I bought 7 years ago , sigh.... It's a 2000 S80 T6 . I really like the car but sometimes ... I wish I would've picked a different Volvo . I paid $750 for it 7 years ago it sat mostly for about 8 years before I bought it . All it needed at the time to get it moving was a fresh battery and gas it's been driving ever since but the dang thing has so many Gremlins in it and I also know it's not the most popular Volvo makes ... but it's mine and paid . Thank you for sharing these videos because if you can get these old Volvo cars running I can probably keep mine going too.
