      I suppose the final result with how far he gets etc might have some interest to them. I am hoping he completes 6 Xs before weather stops him. So far, nothing else has stopped him... he has been slowed down a few times, or stopped briefly for repairs, but nothing has knocked him out of his quest.
      It's too bad he got a late start, or I think he might have stuck with it longer. But he's around already through Lebanon so he has around 53K miles in just 90 days.

    I’d be curious to see alternator output vs charging system load. While these newer bikes have increased charging capacity (not sure about the little wing vs the previous generation) the battery reserve available really isn’t all that impressive, obviously with idle time being nonexistent (non-issue) it would be interesting your findings on all accessories and lights on @ rpm to see if the alternator matches or exceeds the load. Exciting to hear of Chucks accomplishments, take a lot of dedication.

    What I have found out on my POS 2021 Goldwing DCT Tour that has left me stranded too many times. When you turn off the ignition switch the engine will stop but the head light will remain on, this will run down the battery quickly. Solution: when turning the bike off: I have found if you hold the ignition switch in the off position for one or two seconds it will solve the problem of the head light running your battery down. I now also carry a small jump starter in this unreliable POS motorcycle, can’t believe Honda put their name on this big red plastic pile of poop.

    Curious, what is your opinion on Honda stating that the front caliper bolts need to be changed every time? Also, did he have the valves checked during any of the services.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  Před 2 lety

      Changing the front bolts is absolutely absurd. There's no such thing as a single use caliper bolt. They want you to have fresh loctite each time, that's all.
      I have NEVER put any locking agent on a brake caliper bolt and never would. It just damages the fork leg over time, and serves no purpose. Do you know anyone who's ever had the caliper fall off of their Goldwing?
      If you are concerned about valves, you might have them inspected at 25K, and then just forget about them until 100K+.
      We did not have time to do valve inspections, Chuck just kept rolling and we did what was necessary for him to stay on the road. We didn't even change the air filter until he was done. It was nasty, but it did it's job!

    • @moose3971
      @moose3971 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Traxxion I was thinking the same thing on the bolts, however, I did change them this time around, just so I can go into work with them and check them for run out on the Zoller. Also, want to take some measurements and see what is what, I suspect I will see nothing, still interested in checking lol. Don't see any reason for the hole in them either, other than weight, but they look to be aluminum, so, can't see any reason that they would worry about weight of such and insignificant amount.
      By the way, installed the new engine guard. Looks great, very well made as usual.

    With everything you did on the War Horse, not sure if you added the Electrical Connection Parking Brake Interlock Harness. • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  Před 2 lety +1

  • @NRALifeMbr
    @NRALifeMbr Před 2 lety +1

    It's been great fun following Chuck and his adventure. How did the air filter look after 50,000 miles? A thought about the battery, too...with him always being close to the bike while sleeping in the lawn chair, do you think the key fob being ON and close to the bike keeps a small circuit on and creates a small parasitic loss? Does he turn the key fob off at night? Other New Goldwingers have talked about leaving the fob on and in the cubby and some of them are having battery problems.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  Před 2 lety +1

      That's interesting... but I don't think it's a problem. I never move my key, it's always on, and my bike is 4 years old and only has 1400 miles on it! Battery has never died.

    • @NRALifeMbr
      @NRALifeMbr Před 2 lety +1

      @@Traxxion well, that answers that. I just thought there may be a "Standby" mode activated with the Fob close.
      On a different topic, I put the Electrical Connections Cubby fan on my 2019 DCT Tour and for the first few months all the connections were fine but as age and vibrations and bumps would come along, my Android Auto would stop when I hit a bump. Sometimes it came back on and sometimes not. Some of the usb connections seemed to be getting loose, so I took some 3M VHB tape and stuck all the connections to the wall of the cubby next to the rider so that they no longer move. I also used VHB on the bottom of the EC phone cradle too. I now plug in the EC right angle connector to my phone and secure it with a rubber band that keeps pressure on the connection and into the phone. Now it takes a Really large bump to interrupt my AA. I have a picture if you're interested.

    • @Traxxion

      It is lasting great, but then again, so were round tires. He has a few on his Harleys for the Hoka Hey rides.
      The one thing that has happened is the car tire really damages the front tires and wears the sides of the crown badly about an inch on each side. I rode it, and it just ruins the bike. But he's just trying to avoid tire changes, and since there is a tire shortage presently, it's prudent.

    How did the Goldstrike highway pegs hold up?

      I have the gold strike hwy peg. All I can say is make sure you use blue lock tight when installing. I didn't and bolts loosen up., On a ride had to pull over and remove

      He has had the bike tip over onto both sides and the pegs have taken the hit fine. He is very happy with them. They did loosen up from having the bike drop on them, but there was no damage.

    Awesome darkside car tire lol. But is that a double darkside goldwing? (Rear tire on the front?)

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  Před 2 lety +1

      No. I think the car tire is stupid. It handles like crap and it destroys front tires. But since it there is a shortage of tires, and you need 30 days notice at any of the big dealers to get a tire changed, Chuck is just going for the minimum amount of times he has to change the tires. He has car tires on some of his Hoka Hey bikes just so he can do a complete ride without stopping.
      With the new Elite 4 tires, there's no reason to use a car tire ever again.

    All those scratches from the tip overs is just more proof someone needs to come up with better tip over protection since Honda did such a terrible job on the newer models

      We are going to do a belly pan and engine case protector to stop all of the broken engines that are happening first.

    I got a 2006 with 131K and I have never had any issue. Why are you having this many issues?

      I'm certain you've never lived on your motorcycle for months on end, driving in every possible weather condition, and slept in a chair next to your bike for months on end, or driven a thousand miles a day over and over and over. So yes, your bike may not have had the same experience as his has.
