- An experiment in media history made for Dr. Who's 60th Anniversary. What if the very first episode had been lost? What would it look like, and would we still view it in the same way?
Made with my own resources as I didn't have access to the original telesnaps or offair recordings, but it's my closest approximation.
Possibly a video for absolutely no-one, but I'm a mad media theorist and Dr. Who fan, so I'm fascinated by this concept. Hopefully at least a few of you enjoy it too. Out of this and the modernised version of The Daleks released by the BBC tomorrow, this will be the runaway success.
(Also, I fully expect this to be copyright struck quite soon even though I think it's a unique media experiment and won't direct a penny from the copyright holder's pockets (I mean really, who would watch this over the actual episode), so enjoy it while it lasts) - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Thanks to Stef Coburn, you may have just given us the most accessible way to view this episode!
Unfortunately, yeah..

Thank you. A valuable and well put-together reconstruction. I'm certain that I watched the real thing when it happened but can't remember that it made much of an impact, except for William Hartnell - typecast at the time as a crusty NCO (eg in a series called The Army Game, I think, from the time of universal National Service in the armed forces): so quite a change of role for him, then!
I so glad we do actually have it!
love this!
Although still easily available on Amazon, HMV, numerous online retailers, I’d suggest sourcing second hand copies or freebies lest Stef Coburn profit any more than he has already.
This was great!!! How did u make this???
Good effort👍 Could easily have been a reality. Did you follow John Cura’s method I.e Point camera at screen and take snapshot every 20 secs or so? For added “authenticity’ film random bits with primitive video camera and insert accordingly
Well if no one has the DVD or anything, this might be the only way people can watch the first episode
WHAT?! 😂 What the actual fuck are you talking about?! 🤣 An Unearthly Child has been fully complete and has been officially sold in the form of DVDs/physical media units by the BBC for years. Most serious, hardcore Doctor Who fans, especially said Whovians who have collected and own ALL of the Classic Series DVDs, have done so for years!
@@LewisLindorr1990 to newer, more casual fans they won’t, if they want to watch it they now have very limited opinions plus DVDs are seen as old fashioned now anyway so people won’t fork out for the boxset off ebay
@doctorwhoproductions834 That's what I was thinking.
@@LewisLindorr1990it's a reference to how Stef Coburn (the rights owner of the story) had the serial pulled from current distribution so as a result of that the earliest episode the BBC are allowed to showcase is The Dead Planet or episode one of The Daleks.
Twas a silly joke
Why have you even bothered with this telesnap/audio track restoration for, when "An Unearthly Child" has been fully complete and has been officially sold in the form of DVDs/physical media units by the BBC for years. Most serious, hardcore Doctor Who fans, especially said Whovians who have collected and own ALL of the Classic Series DVDs/Blu-rays, have done so for years, for fuck's sake. "An Unearthly Child" has never been one of the lost/missing serials/stories. Every true Whovian knows this. 🙄
He said he made it as a "what if" it had been lost, and he made it for "absolutely no one".
Read description.
You alright mate
