good idea like monitoring backyard when someone try to passing sensor could turn backyard light on ,However have to test between PIR and Hikvision motion sensor which one is better.

My outputs are the same as yours but the alarm output is sending power, S1 and S2 do not accept power. Do you have any settings in Nvr to disable this power sending?

I keep having the same problem with my switches burning.
Tried this a few times, but the relays keep burning, the wiring was ok.
The bulb was only 5 watts.
Do you have any idea what could be causing this ?
You can try with delay relay instead of Sonoff Mini,

I think I also destroyed my Dahua alarm box :( :( :(
I connected mains power to the MINI and then used small wires to connect the S1 and S2 to the alarm box, which was in turn connected to my Dahua XVR.
(the alarm box simply expands the alarm in/outputs to my XVR.
What did I do wrong? Clearly everything -_-
But I want this idea to work!

That what I need, something that turns the wall lights on when video detects movement. But, then what about cats? Right now I have lost count on the number of cats and cat fights and sensor triggered security lights and wasted electricity. It's a war zone out there at night. How do you stop cats hanging around my house?
put dog barking system and no cat will come near to your home.. or if you can find dog pee put it like geo fence near ur home and cat will move from there.. or you can ask someone with a dog to make the dog pee there.. i did and it work..

Hi. I tried this installation but when I connected S1 and S2 (from mini-sonoff) to chOut1 and G (from HVR), it burned that channel. There was a little short circuit sound and short circuit smell. I want to know what could have been the problem. I am using a mini sonoff exactly the same as the one you are using. I am using a different HVR. Mine is DS-7208HUHI-K2. Before I connected the mini-sonoff to the HVR I was able to test both of them and they were functioning as expected. I was able to turn on the 120VAC bulb when I short circuit S1 and S2. On the other side, using a continuity test (electric tester) I was able to hear a beep for several seconds when line-crossing event was fired. // Something else is that when I test (+)S1 (-)Nin and (+)S2 (-)Nin, I was able to measure 65VAC on each of them. Is this what we are expected to get on each Sx? //*// This is how I connected mini-sonoff: Nin (bulb), Nin(outlet Neutral), Lin(outlet Line), Lout(bulb), S1(HVR alarm chOut1), S2(HVR alarm G, G that correspond to chOut1). Hi, I noted your points. If you facing the short/burn problem with the DVR/NVR Then the alarm out relay not present on your cctv device.
For that you can use separate relay to connect the AC Devices Or
You can directly use DC lamps without sonoff device.
Or you can try with Email triggered Alarm using IFTTT

@@Techlogics At this point I am not that worried about the burned Alarm Out Channel. I am more concerned about learning from this experience. Once said that, let me tell you that I have been testing voltages in my HVR and it seems to me that Alarm Out Channels in this HVR are dry contacts. I trigger the alarm from the menu and I am able to test continuity between 1 and G (2 and G, 3 and G, 4 and G). After I test continuity I test voltage (DC or AC) and I get 0V, so it seems I am not able to power DC lamps without external relay. // On the other hand, I see from your video that your DVR short circuit S1 and S2 when it close and that turns on the light. I understand you don't need nothing else than that (shor circuit S1 and S2). If that is the case, what is the "alarm out relay" not present in my HVR suppose to be doing besides what it is doing right now? (close circuit when activated) Thank you
