    • @OnlineComputerTips
      @OnlineComputerTips  Před rokem +2

      If your printer has an Ethernet connection or is wireless, it will have an IP address. You will need to get it from the on screen menu if it has it or by printing out a printer configuration page.

      You should be able to print out a configuration page with the IP address by going to the menu on the printer itself or pressing a certain key combination. You might have to look up how to do it. If you printer has an actual menu screen on it, look for network settings and see if you can find it.

    Can't for the life of me find answers on setting up a wireless printer with a WiFi Mesh network. WTF should be filled into the printer's "Subnet Mask" and "Default Gateway" when I set it up with a static IP in its Network menu??? Nobody seems to have the answer to this.

    • @OnlineComputerTips
      @OnlineComputerTips  Před 8 měsíci

      The subnet mask should be the same as you have on the computer you are connecting to it with (ipconfig command) assuming the printer is on the same network if you have more than one subnet. You most likely don't need a gateway address since the traffic from the printer is not leaving your network, unless you have other subnets connected to the network that have computers you want to use this printer with. You can just add the gateway that your computer uses too.

    • @OfficialPsykoTroniK
      @OfficialPsykoTroniK Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@OnlineComputerTips thanks for your reply on this - I do appreciate it.
      But I actually got it right shortly after commenting here. I set the printer back to DHCP and looked at what was auto-assigned in order to confirm the subnet is the same as what I had put in when trying to set up static IP for it, and then also saw that the gateway IP is set as exactly what the main Deco Mesh Unit's IP was (serving as the router). It was then clear that my gateway was the main thing I probably had wrong. So when I confirmed those two, I just decided on an IP for the printer and then updated its IP on the computer. All working perfect since then.

      @@OnlineComputerTips Thanks! My printer can't be configured via web interface. I can print a status page and hope the next time around the IP is still the same. I do assign an IP address in the router, but there are times the printer still doesn't get it - or my operating system.

    • @OnlineComputerTips
      @OnlineComputerTips  Před 2 lety

      @@bernardmueller5676 You should be able to assign an IP address via the buttons on the printer. Either way, the IP address should stay the same until you restart the printer. Even then, many DHCP enabled devices will try and get the same IP address they had before when their lease is up.
