- The Rhythm Makers were the second incarnation of the band that would eventually get their own million selling disco song in "Disco Nights" as GQ.
Before they morphed, songs like "Soul On Your Side" was an early version of "Disco Nights" and the stone cold classic club tune "Zone" a percussive electronic dance tune.
They first formed in 1968 as Sabu & the Survivors in the Bronx, NY. By the time the 70's arrived, they had renamed themselves The Rhythm Makers with members Keith Crier, Kenny Banks and Herb Lane. 1976 saw "Soul On Your Side" issued as a single but it was "Zone" that caught the attention of DJ's and club goers. Banks left and was replaced by Paul Service when their manager suggested they adopt a new name Good Quality or GQ for short.
They went on to disco fame with Disco Nights from their first album as GQ that stormed the pop charts all over the world but soon cast changes led to recordings that were met with diminishing returns and were still performing as of 2010.
Keith Crier was the uncle of Keith Sweat. - Hudba

THE RHYTHM MAKER
great job as always! [side note: Yesterday I heard the Melvin & the Bluenotes/Teddy Pendergrass version of "Don't Leave Me This Way. Seemed a very similar tempo to the og Thelma Houston version. Have you ever thought about or actually tried to mix them into a duet? ty for what u do!]
He took the Boz Scaggs and Rita Coolidge versions of "We're All Alone" and created a virtual duet, so it's not impossible.
I hope you are well. Have not heard from you for a while

Good morning DJDiscoCat , is it possible you remix the song Lenny by Buggles. I love this song but it is so short.
Love your mixes.
Friend Songs Please
Sounds bit like Herbie Hancock.
... or does Herbie Hancock sound a bit like this?
70's porn funk ; Bonus .
Or 70s cop/detective TV shows...
