    I’ve had one. They are one of the most wonderful breeds of dog I could ever have had. Now I have a Newfie and she’s amazing as well. The brushing is essential. I’ve been through five vacuums in 9 years, and still wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

    Leos are the best hands down. We Lost Stars a year-and-a-half ago and we still miss him so much. One thing they didn't say is they live about six to eight years though if you're lucky like we were you get them for almost double we had him for 14. But honestly the best family dog ever. They can be brats no argue with you sometimes a lot of times especially if you get a really bratty one. They're super super smart so they do tend to like to talk back but as an owner you don't really hate it you love it because it's adorable I hope. They get frustrated that you don't understand what they're saying which is super funny poor babies. But they really are the best dogs.

    We had our first Leo (from Alida, lady in video) in an apartment, no issues. I did bring him to Central Park on weekends during the times dogs can be off-leash. Since then we moved to a 10 acre hobby farm in Idaho and our second Leo who also lived in NY before we moved, loves being in the country, and we can’t imagine him being happy in an apartment . So an apartment will work with this breed but if you have one of the rare “turbo” Leos (our second Leo) then probably not.

    Alida, the woman in this video helped me find my dog, Izzy, at Emerald City Kennels in Seattle back in 1997, before AKC recognition of the breed. Izzy died in '07. Thanks Alida for arranging ten years of happiness with Izzy.

    No, they don't drool.

    • @TheSquishStine
      @TheSquishStine Před 5 lety +4

      no, not at all *rubs at giant slime on pant leg* 😂 They do but not like other jowly breeds. It's primarily only when eating/drinking and immediately after. Or if they really. really. really want something. That drool strand can reach the floor!

      Among other things they were bred specifically to drool less than most giant dogs, I think they got their dry mouth from the Great Pyrenees.

    • @TheSquishStine
      @TheSquishStine Před 5 lety +2

      Yes, but only if begging for something they want, or after eating/drinking. They are much drier than other jowly breeds.
