  • Sheep and Goat Nutrition Project: Guinea, West Africa (Dec 14, 2012-Jan 4, 2013).
This is an example of a Farmer to Farmer training provided by Judy of Shepherd Song Farm during her 3 wks in the rural villages of Guinea. The people and music might be of interest even if the process is not. During the dry season it is difficult for sheep and goats to find adequate protein when only grazing. Protein supplementation during this period is not generally done due to lack of resources. This is one method of storing feed for the dry season while also increasing the crude protein content of high fiber, low value, straw and grass.
Judy has provided small ruminant assessments and trainings to farmers and professionals in Ethiopia, Egypt, Mali and Guinea. If you are interested in volunteering contact www.winrockinternational.org or Judy at jmoses47@gmail.com
