It’s bread ready to be served. Jesus fed them on the mountains of Israel multiplying the bread and there were still twelve baskets of pieces left over. The Word of God is the Bread of Life, continually fresh like a fountain of running/living water, never stagnant. Making the reader ready for prayer, ready to send incense of prayers up to God. This is the meaning of the picture of the table of shewbread. The word Shew has several meanings in the Bible, sometimes it means a presentation or demonstration and sometimes it means worship, and sometimes it means to show. All of these are contained in the accounts of Jesus multiplying the bread to feed the thousands.

      Numbers 4:7 JPS 1917

Thank you. One more question. How do we know that There is wine in the jar? I want to believe when I first find it in the Bible. Without wine this table of the Bread is profound enough. However with wine it is a perfect symbol of communion of Christ.

    • @TheTabernacleMan

@@Marieseungmi let me check for a definitive source. But ALL “drink offerings” were made with wine. Water was splashed on side of brazen altar during fears of Tabernacles (Sukkot). But this was not connected with the table of showbread.

Hope you are well, have you ever given thought to the visual representation of the table of shewbread as it relates to the written word of God in this way? On the table there were 12 loaves (twelve tribes, The number of Devine governance), but they were always placed in two stacks of six. The fact that they were in two distinct stacks suggest again a physical representation of two testaments. The number 6 represents man.
Now we know that Christ is the bread of life, The living manna from heaven. We know that he is the word made flesh. We know that when we pray, “give us this day our daily bread” it is referring to his word, which washes us in the knowledge of his Christ.
But, I see also physical representation of the number six and six with the two stacks of loaves as in 66 books of the Bible, which are illuminated standing WEST across from the candlesticks (which are the seven churches). The seven candlesticks face east as if calling and illuminating to the word the showbread west, as if to point the way home. That picture is assuring us of both new and old testaments as one complete word of God and that the version we hold now ALL 66 books are divinely inspired.
I find it interesting that the whole word of God is also represented by the number of books. There are 22 letters of the Hebrew Aleph Bet....that’s 22+22+22=66 or 22x3=66 the written word has a triune nature as well🙂

Symbols of Yeshua, the Messiah that was to come, are all throughout the Tabernacle. If you miss the point of Jesus being God in flesh who was the holiest sacrifice to Father God atoning or our sins, the tabernacle is meaningless.
