    *UPDATE!* - This changes a bit... MTG rules state that *Naru Meha, Master Wizard cannot break the Ghostly Flicker loop by returning to the Command Zone!* This is confirmed in the comprehensive rules here:
    "400.7. An object that moves from one zone to another becomes a new object with no memory of, or relation to, its previous existence. There are nine exceptions to this rule:
    400.7h If an effect causes an object to move to a public zone, other parts of that effect can find that object. If the cost of a spell or ability causes an object to move to a public zone, that spell or ability's effects can find that object."
    I guess our group was letting Justin get away with a lot, haha. The "Command Zone" is a "Public Zone," meaning Naru can go to the Command Zone during the Ghostly Flicker loop, but will ultimately return to the battlefield as Ghostly Flicker can find Naru just as easily from Exile as it could with her in the Command Zone. I know this has personally changed Justin's feelings about Naru as a viable cEDH Commander, but what about you? How will you now brew for her? Let me know and talk soon! -Patrick

      The 99 I'm very confused because my understanding of the game makes me think that this interaction is incorrect. Moving Naru Meha to the command zone instead of the exile zone is a replacement effect. Which would cause Ghostly Flicker to lose track of the card. If somehow there was an effect that said "if a creature you control would be exiled, instead put that creature in your graveyard" would Ghostly Flicker be able to pull Naru Meha (or any creature) from the yard and place it on the battlefield because it's a "public zone"? I don't think so. So why is the command zone different?

    • @thezacdaniel5409
      @thezacdaniel5409 Před 5 lety +1

      I have reread the exception the rule you cited in this comment, and I'm sure now that you are misinterpreting the ruling. The ruling is an EXCEPTION to the rule that when a card moves zones, it's previous permanent interation does not exist anymore and the card has no connection to it whatsoever. That's why counters don't get moved, and static effects don't affect it anymore. The exception to the rule is stating that an effect (like Ghostly Flicker's effect) may move a card from one zone to another and back again without losing track of it. However, the effect will only look for that card in the zone it put the card in, the effect will not look at every public zone to find it, because if it did, Ghostly Flicker could look into the graveyard as well, which makes no sense.

      if you want to break the loop, just choose 2 islands to target with the newest copy of ghostly flicker

    • @LocalGameGroup
      @LocalGameGroup  Před 5 lety +2

      It is a replacement effect, for which location she’ll be moving to, but the effect is the same. I had confirmed this with a Judge before posting. Also, there are articles to look up on this ruling with citations as to how it works. 👌 MTG is a pretty comprehensive game. Also, Justin’s issue isn’t stopping the loop but ending with Naru in the Command Zone, as most all post-infinite Mana loops require she be there. -Patrick

    if you want to make as budget version of this that still works and is slightly slower for normal EDH, just take out all the fetches, take out all the moxes the grim monolith, the snap caster mage, force of will and mana drain and replaces them with 2 counter spells of some kind, I chose Hinder and Tunnel vision (not a counter spell), 5 basic islands, Torrential gearhulk (only targets instants but you get to cast it for free), Thran dynamo, Hinder + tunnel vision: this is a beautiful combo that mills your victim down to 0 cards, meaning the next time he or she draws, they die. you counter target spell with hinder, then choose to put it on the bottom of his/her library, then on your turn, cast tunnel vision and name the card you countered and they mill until they find it and guess what, its the bottom card, so they mill their entire library and draw the last card making sure they die when it's their turn the next time or if someone forces them to draw, then they just die. it's such a savage way to kill someone muhuhahaha! anyways, these changes shave about 1000 $ off the deck's price. it's current at 385.95 $ if you make these changes.

      @@LocalGameGroup It'd be exciting to see some shorts that talk about key win cons in the format.
      You have an excellent way of explaining play lines and combos, and I think it'd lend itself to quick cEDH "need to know" videos.
      e.g. "How do Consultation lines work?"
      "Dakmoor salvage. Is this even legal?"
      "No really, that is how Chain veil works!"
      "Wait, Thousand Year Storm is cEDH viable!?"

    I suppose 10:00 brings up a rules question I'm not educated on. Say you mill everyone out on your turn with Winds of Rebuke, does that end the game in a draw since you also lose on your draw step? Or do you automatically win since you were the last one to lose?

    • @justinr4368
      @justinr4368 Před 5 lety +1

      Exactly, you win because your turn will be last. On a player’s draw step (if they have no library they’ll lose) and since you played rebuke on your turn, every player will be eliminated before It’s your next turn :)

    • @LocalGameGroup
      @LocalGameGroup  Před 5 lety

      What Justin mentions here is *correct.* That is why it’s important to only play this line on your turn, with the full knowledge that your opponent won’t have a way to auto-shuffle their graveyard into their library. -Patrick

      1:14 time stamp . Sorry i think i wored question wrong , if the first ghostly flicker is picking 2 floating mana can you not use that 2 floating and 2 to cast Naru? thus reducing the min requirment to start loop . then the copy of spell blinks naru and island for infinite mana? eg 3 mana to cast ghoslty with 2 mana spair . then since ghost is getting you 2 mana can you not tap the other 2 to pay for naru. reduceing min cost to 5 avaliable.?? @@LocalGameGroup

    • @LocalGameGroup
      @LocalGameGroup  Před 11 měsíci

      The initial Ghostly Flicker won't produce anything until it resolves, and you need it on the stack for Naru to target, so it'll always be the 7 to get the ball rolling with just these two cards.
