Very good performance of a great tune! You guys play very well together. Love your playing Akio - Beautiful chordal work, comping and nice lines. Wondered what model Gibson you're playing? Looks like an older L7C? You're playing reminds me of Kenny Burrell/ Barney Kessel And very nice woody/acoustic tone.

Thank you very much for your kind comment.Yes, the guitar is L7C 1958~9. Had an old ES175 pickup (non PAF) installed as a floating pickup. The trio played for the first time had 45 min rehearsal and this was the first tune of the evening. I had played with the drummer 30+ year ago! but had never played with the bassist. They are both great listeners. The drummer graduated from Berklee in early '90s and lived in NYC for a year and played with Harper Brothers among others.

@@akiology Thanks Akio. An L7C. Listened to you play on Angel Eyes - with that pickup and guitar - your playing - beautiful. Your sense of time is great! Understand about one rehearsal and being good listeners. I went to Berklee from 77-79. Many very good musicians there at that time. Mike Stern - he got the gig with Miles in 80. Pat Metheny was still around as well - playing standards in the bars, not his music. The problem I had with Berklee was there was so much theory taught - which was great but not enough playing time on the bandstand to really use it so it became mine. So I learned alot but I had no idea how to get gigs and neither did my friends. We all eventually quit and and had to do other jobs for money. Years alter I went back to practicing and I'd figured out how to get gigs. Never stopped since then.

Also - my keyboard player worked with Chick Corea as a tour manager - and so I was able to meet Chick - take some of his workshops. What a great musician and human being! He really encouraged writing your own compositions - even working at it every day. I see you have written alot of tunes. I asked him one time if Bud Powell was who influenced his playing - that's what I had heard. He liked that question - said no - as far as piano players - it was Horace Silver's playing. Of course loved Bird, Coltrane, Miles, etc..

@@allthegigswewant Thank you foe the comment. I moved to the US in 1977 and settled in Chicago in 78. Actually I translated Modern Method For Jazz Guitar by Willian Levitt in 1977 and went to Berklee with a person from a Japanese music publishing company as an interpreter and met both Lawrence and Lee Berk as well as Mr Levitt. I applied a scholarship for Berklee in 1980 but was not accepted, But a funny thing is I sent one song that was in the demo tape fro Berklee to Joe Henderson and he accepted to record with me which was released from MUSE.
