THE best review of the XC90, well done.
I still like the XC90’s external aesthetic, but boy does the interior - especially the tech - need an overhaul.
2015 is a long, long time ago and Volvo are leagues away from their German competitors.
Fingers crossed an all new XC90 isn’t too many years away.

Can you comment on the wool blend versus Napa leather? Also do you get massage option with the plus?
Hi there, the material for the latest Volvo's is a acquired taste, and we would recommend visiting TMS Volvo to try the seats out for yourself. The massage option is not available on the plus model.
Great review. The trim levels weren't really making sense to me before but definitely do now. The only thing I'd like is the Inscription interior minus the wood panelling. Always feels a bit 80's stationwagon with fake wood panelling
You make it a plus point that you have to choose the top of the range to get the options that were separately ordered before. Nice way for Volvo to simplify there production line and to charge you thousands extra for a car that you just wanted one modestly priced option before. Options have never confused me
Exactly, it is an absolute joke that car manufacturers are doing this more and more especially when car prices are systematically increasing every quarter and deposit contributions are reducing or becoming non existent. Audi started this all off in the luxury brand categories. Pure money making exercise and with the cost of living increasing, it’s a wonder how they expect anyone to actually afford to buy these new cars on PCPs
What an awesome review. I think the B&W standard on the ultimate may be a regional difference, I don’t think we get it standard in Canada.

I have a 67 plate T8 with almost every extra. The equivalent of Ultimate Bright + TowBar and Massage seats. It sh*ts all over Q7s and X5s. As a software developer who cares if the others might have a digitzed picture photo of their car in the tech? It's like saying you've got a fly on a armani suit. Makes no difference.
I went to the Audi showroom to see the Q8. The official employee on seeing the T8 PHEV Tank muttered under his breath silently "Audi can't match that". He then said "Only thing is Q8 Vorsprung is faster". Theres no 7 seat PHEV. Theres no Boron Steel. Says everything. 100% true story.

Can you comment on the size of the plug-in hybrid battery size (kwh) in the xc90 2023 vs 2022?
Hi Alejandro, the battery is the same as the MY2022. It is 18.8 Kwh giving you about 40 miles of Battery range. Many thanks John

Absolutely. I've been hungry for some 2023 content as I'm looking to grab a 23 T8. I'm super stuck on dark vs bright exterior - they both look great.
@@motoxrider295 wow that is so funny I am in the same boat white vs black, bright vs dark. I think I have made my decision though I am leading towards a 23 T8 white with bright these the chrome looks really nice the black is a lot of plastic
@@jerryp4916 yeah we're mostly on the same. Bright exterior with Thunder Grey is our pick. The dark looks good but I don't want to make a non-sporty SUV try to look as if it is. And the grill and US rim selection isn't as good as it could be.

Does the Ultimate trim really include the B & O system?

No. You can upgrade from the H/K. Extra Option.
In the US, Harmon Kardon is in the Ultimate while the B & O is an add on.
In the U.K. it is standard on the Ultimate. Not sure about other markets.
The problem is you cannot fully mix and match. For example, you can’t have an ultimate with the old R-design trim. Also, one thing I find frustrating is lack of diesel in ultimate spec.
You can have the r -design interior on the ultimate. You just lose the ventilated seats
@mattaylor9429 because they are letting go of the fuel (they let go of the diesel and this year with EX90 they will let go of the Petrol )

There is no such thing as an R-Design anymore. This is an Ultimate Mild-hybrid on Dark Theme. B&W and 22" wheels as options.

Why do I get the feeling that this ultimate version has all the bells and whistle you ever want and they're all top notch quality. My only gripe about some of the interior design are the glossy interior which is just horrible with finger print and smudge and sun glare reflect making it harder to see the interior.

2023 entertainment system looks dated...
Dreadful sound when outside. You need to get a dead cat windjammer. And wear a radio mic. When you turn away from the camera you are virtually inaudible.
