      @@JanDrenk The XC90 T8 I have is quite wonderful in the engine department (~36,000 miles now). Volvo really refined the braking feel and other characteristics of the T8 with the 2020 software updates (which they applied to the earlier as well if you do a software update at the dealer). All electric range is now right around 18 miles. Usually the wife drives it, but I took it for my work for a week - 845 miles of mixed driving, 30.8 MPG (U.S.) and I had a hole in my day I filled by finding a free public charger and just watching an episode of Better Call Saul... gained ~7 miles of range (not a fast charging car...) and used all that range up in stop and go traffic - about two hours stuck in traffic without any gas being used - that was pretty awesome!

      danhalski excellent reply, that completely defeats my point! I own an xc90 and bought it because it's so far ahead of the game. It's the closest thing to tesla's autopilot. The Audi and LR only have adaptive cruise and no other forms of automated driving

    • @danhalski

      Gary Campbell And I'll surprise you here.I have just sold the Audi Q7 with full equipment, Audi prevents collision there is no need to throw any buttons to launch functions Checked several times by accident :-) works and it's fine 1 warns against collision 2 prepares brakes 3 if you do not react then auto brakes prevent collision.If you want to turn right at the junction and someone coming up with the opposite auto will stop.Sometimes it is a shock because it happens fast but the sensitivity of the system can be set Before buying I tested a few options for the Volvo XC90 :-) your BMW but already had one knowledge got bored and still produced unchanged and the Audi Q7 new model pity with was only 3L available no 4 more power Volvo XC90 dropped 2L what is the engine yelling Begging for help non stop.I bought a Tesla X90D I'm waiting to have in October, for economic reasons, sorry for English

    • @garycampbell9036
      @garycampbell9036 Před 6 lety +6

      Yeh the Volvo has automated collision, braking and steering assist without launch. Keep in mind that the the XC90 has had several major updates to the 2018 model (after March 17). I find the 2L engine is quick enough for this type of vehicle, it does need to jump through gears more often that the Audi's 3.0l though.
      The T8 Hybrid would likely be much better but I went for the D5 as it wasn't worth the extra for the hybrid since I don't do much town driving. The Tesla is one of the best cars I have driven but it just didn't have the space I need, the 90D is just insanely fast.

      @danhalski Před 6 lety

      Gary Campbell
      Audi pre-sense front with collision avoidance assist and turn assist
      When the system detects the risk of a collision with the vehicle in front a visual and acoustic warning is given to the driver followed by partial braking or at speeds under 19mph the system may apply full braking. In addition, the system will calculate if an appropriate evasion lane is available and apply supportive steering to aid the driver. If a crash is sensed the airbags will be pre-conditioned and the braking system prepared to assist with the necessary braking force once the brake pedal is touched. When turning at crossroads, from the moment the turn indicators are activated the turn assist system detects approaching vehicles and applies braking to help avoid a collision
      Audi Active lane assist
      Traffic jam assist
      When activated and in conjunction with ACC the system uses the sensors and camera to detect vehicles ahead and on adjacent lanes. When a traffic jam is detected, the system will assist with the braking, accelerating and steering up to 37mph making your journey a more comfortable one
      Predictive efficiency assist
      All-wheel steering the best for me

      toranwartoran Looking at the date of the video, the car is already at least 2 years old, it’ll be 4+ years old in the next 2 years. And Audi’s are notorious for having issues within the first 4 years and usually right after warranty runs out. If they were so reliable, why would you need to extend a warranty on a fairly new car you paid so much money for just 3 years ago (and probably still paying)??? And there is a reason why I don’t owe one. Friends and family have owned them and they’re nothing but headaches once those first 3-4 years of warranty wear off. Sometime even before.

      @anchia7 Před 4 lety +1

      toranwartoran thats good for you. I’ve owned all types of cars (American, European, and Japanese). Japanese have proven to be the most reliable. I loved and enjoyed my BMW and I can tell you it gave me a bit more issues than any of my Japanese (Nissan, Acura, Honda). German cars are just a lot more fun to drive and perform better. I’ve been tempted to buy an Audi a couple of times, but was turned off by family and friends. I think replacing every 6 years or more often if you Can is a safe move if you can afford it. But for the average joe who keeps a car for longer and drives a car that’s usually a decade or older, Audi is not the smartest choice. I currently own a Chevy Truck (haven’t had any issues whatsoever in 90k miles) and a 4 years old Volvo XC90 which has been great and we love. That thing is a luxury tank. Best regards from Texas.

    Writing from USA here ... I quite like diesel engines, so I'm tempted to go for the Disco (the only one of the three to come with a diesel over here). But the Q7 and the XC90 both average pretty close MPG with their upgraded petrol engines, so I'm a bit torn. The head-unit in the Volvo is not so great, so it's out. The Q7 will spend less time at the dealer, but I'd probably lease something like this, so I'm not particularly worried. Given the extra storage capacity, and the similar price, I'd probably go for the Disco TD6 in the end. With the upgraded head unit/electronic gauge display.

      while all car manufacturers try to reach the maximum on the safety test from euro NCAP
      volvo massively exceed them.
      they have been doing tests since the 1980's that euro NCAP only included in their tests in 2012.

    I have heard good things about Volvo but never own one, personally the look of discovery doesn’t work for me, I currently own a Audi Q5, did 500km drive yesterday and it made me realise how good this car is! If I ever need to upgrade it, it has to be q7 or q8.

    Can you please do GLS vs. Competitors? I'm looking to replace my 2016 GL 360 Bluetec.

    Personally prefer the practicality of the disco, but disgusted with the reliability of these 3 euro brands here in Australia, especially the q7.

    The Volvo just looks stunning, has to be one of the best looking SUVs ever made
