Well good news guys, Herta and Himeko are insane in Pure Fiction.
I just got her out of standard banner just doing some random 10-pulls, I'm probably gonna be fine for Pure Fiction when I get there.

I main Himeko and I love playing her. Sometimes a few battles it gets hard when she can't weakness break etc. but her dmg is honestly decent when you build her with the grand duke build. Everyone just remember to play whats most fun for you, meta or not ^^
We stan himeko here, I actually also built my himeko but with the fire set and I pulled topaz specifically for himeko (And a future jingyuan) although I was thinking about farming grand Duke for both himeko and topaz once Kafka gets home
sadly no himeko yet, already got every standart banner and their lc, except himeko and bronya. my 300 selector is near but i will not get himeko sadly if i dont got bronya before that.
i was wondering if you could share her build and team you use for it? I have a e1 himkeo and as a f2p it feels very wasteful not to build an e1 5 star unit.
@@saptashwapaul5583 4pc grand duke with (ideally) jing yuans light cone. I have E1 too so you dont need Speed on bots, Crit Body and focus on Crit substats, atk % & spd. I use space sealing station on her aswell. For team comps she is (imo) very good with Asta who has her signature 4star light cone. A buffer and a support to keep you alive are also very good for himeko ^^
Usually you want to use her when you can weakness break/against many targets. If both scenarios apply its even better ^^
Remember she is no Jingliu/Dan Heng IL so she wont do insane dmg even with E1

I don't main her but she's on my main team (Got her on my first beginner 10-pull, I was hyped as fricc and still super happy to have her), I love her a LOT :D
I’m hoping Ruan Mei can truly bring Himeko into some sort of spotlight, her increased break effect synergies perfectly with Himeko’s talent, but Himeko just doesn’t deal enough damage because she is focused on AoE, here’s to hoping for a support which condenses damage into blast or single target 😁
How do you save Himeko. It seems to me that her floor is kinda just too low. Her kit looks fine, her numbers I am not too sure about. I mean, let's say you make a support that buffs more AoE, does Himeko benefit from that more than Argenti for example idk.
Himeko should do fine in a sort of premium team of topaz, asta with the lightcone to increase same type damage, himeko, and ruan mei
Unfortunately, anything characters that buff Himeko will buff others more, if you buff AoE, it buffs Argenti More, Buffing Follow up attack damage, it buffs Topaz and Ratio more, Buffing Fire Dmg, it buffs Topaz more, Buffing Burn or making a character that can increase effect hit rate, it buffs Guinaifen, Kafka, Luka and Sampo way more than Himeko, It just seems like she has no place in this game, her kit is spread too thin
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks, you buff Himeko by doing something about that Weakness mechanic. Add a character that makes all attacks deplete Weakness gauge despite not being the correct type. That will make Himeko gain some uses.

SW can also add a weakness to enemies.

as someone who plays genshin, hsr and hi3rd, I can confidently say that hi3rd has insane powercreep. occasionally a unit will stay relevant for a long time (herrscher of sentience for example) but older units are practically useless in new competitive content. it’s hard to keep up but they do give decent rewards and free units quite often.
If it's like this in Honkai Impact, I worry about what it will be like in HSR. Turn-Based Combat Games are notorious for constant powercreep which causes more difficult content to be balanced accordingly and as a consequence older characters become less and less relevant
Literally HoFi lmao. She was fine by herself when she released, but now she cannot function in the meta without the herrscher trio team with the expensive gear
It's usually DPS powercreep (unfortunately), but I'm glad that most support is accessible via the shop (so support powercreep is not nearly as bad).
@@Truck-kun11This is a non concern for hsr and genshin. Hi3rd is stands out like this because end game is competitive pvp where you are directly fighting for scores against other players.

If you have Himeko, remember to bring her to any IPC Senior Staff Team Leader fight. The guy loves spending turns summoning more grunts for Himeko and Pela to weakness break, which gives them free marks for more damage and just makes the fight overall easier. This is currently the only fight I find Himeko to be the most ideal pick for, assuming equal investment amongst units. Hopefully Pure Fiction gives her another avenue to be viable in.

I've been a Himeko stan since day 1 and always tried making her work and so far the new Erudition path in Sim Universe has been insanely good with her to the point I think she's pretty much top tier in Simu world rn so I'm hoping Pure Fiction will give her her long awaited spotlight

Now, it should be recoqnised that this is 90% on purpose. The title and the timing are perfect for ragebaiting. If that wasn't the case, Vars here could have waited less than two weeks to see how PF changed the situation before releasing a more up-to-date assesment. This video is a smart, although somewhat distasteful move from him.

It's the CZcamsr strat, even if they have to use dirty tactic and passive aggressiveness
I would argue that Himeko became at least a little bit more viable when the IPC enemies dropped. They're all weak to fire, and the big robot manager dude in particular is constantly summoning in more to fill the enemy party gaps, meaning that Himeko is constantly being supplied with mooks to proc her LC buff and victory rush follow-up off of. Admittedly they're not so plentiful outside of the short story moment where they're the main antagonistic faction, but they do still appear and Himeko is probably one of the best units for dealing with them... though admittedly this is just theory crafting because so far the game hasn't deigned to give me a Himeko to play with - it seems to think I need her LC and an E3 Welt more.
Also, another cool thing about 1.6 is that it's added the Erudition path and blessings to Simulated Universe, which should act as incentive to use Himeko and other erudition units in the mode.
She's the MVP against those. Guinaifen and Hook can't deal anywhere near as much AoE Fire damage as Himeko does.

Yes, ur light. This one get melted by her XD. The fact that she gets 3 stacks from breaking bosses is very good, when there's 2 bosses it can do some crazy combos
himeko was skyrocketed further with topaz. in a dual dps team they work so much better then either of them in hyper carry
@@insertnamehere1398 Unfortunately my attempts to get Topaz ended in an E1 Gepard instead, so I'm going to have to wait for her rerun to try again. But I finally got ahold of Bronya after losing my Ruan Mei 50/50, and I'm only 10 pulls away from the standard banner selector so once I have that I'll be grabbing Himeko as well.
Himeko is fine unit, she can do decent damage, especially against groups or fire weak enemies. She also has potential to get stronger with future supports. And she's fun to play.
Yanqing on the other hand? He's much worse. Himeko didn't deserves the title of worst 5*

Yanqing's only (yet massive) flaw is how easy it is to turn off his passive. Once you have a good shield, he does bonkers damage. Himeko, meanwhile, has a bunch of smaller issues that stack up. It's an apples to oranges situation 🤷
Yanqing is the definition of walking the fine line because of how premium he is since you kinda NEED Gepard to make him work… hopefully he’ll get better when we get more shield characters because I still find it crazy that we only have four Preservation units in the game and one (Fu Xuan) can’t even create shields

Would love to see a video on Qingque (fittingly another Erudition). Originally, it seemed like everyone thought she was garbage because of her rng kit, but recently she's been considered one of the best 4star dps thanks to her Blast damage and the ability to play around her rng.

@@alecxander9573People thought her RNG aspect would make her bad, people like consistency when it comes to damage dealing, so when the game was released and Qingque was able to be used people thought her playstyle was too inconsistent and skill point heavy.
But then when people started to get to late game and more characters were experimented on and released, people realised that Qingque was actually pretty insane and had very big damage numbers, especially at E4 where she got even more cracked, people simply judged her too early and didn’t bother to invest into her at the beginning, which happens to a lot of characters.

I've an E3 Himeko (+ her signature lightcone) and I play her with my E6 Asta. Let's just say...not a lot of enemies can survive these two. 😊

Himeko could become better in 1.6, as she focuses or breaking weaknesses for her follow-up attacks, and considering that’s what Ruan Mei buffs, she should be pretty good. And we also have the AoE focused endgame coming out as well, so she could be good there too.

Unfortunately, Ruan Mei is kinda anti synergistic with her due to prolonging break state. Himeko wants to break as often as possible to use her follow ups, but Ruan Mei doesn't exactly facilitate her type of mechanic.

yes she a bit anti synergistic with Himeko but not that much because she doesn't only relies FUA alone and Himeko like to pair with another DPS that make the different (Himeko, Topaz, Ruan mei, sustain unit)
and due to how fast I can break enemy with Ruan mei's buff I think It worth it

Ruan Mei shines pretty well on Double DPS compositions, a comp that Himeko really likes cause of her lacking ST.
people worry too much about prolonged weakness break. Its really miniscule imo. Most of the time the enemy still gonna get their turn shortly after.

I expected this kind of video because I remember the early days when Himeko was labeled as the “worst 5 star in the game”. She's come a long way since then with her being a support for Topaz in follow-up attacks, the Grand Duke set, and Ruan Mei's potential in a “Break Effect Himeko” build. Himeko may not be shining but she's keeps improving bit by bit and this is coming from someone who mains her since Day 1.
I am Himeko main since day 1, was rerolling account to get Himeko from beginner banner, got a jingyuan cone for her and built 70/230 crit 3300 atk, with every day she becomes less competitive to other characters and there are no such type of buffs exist that could give her more than to anyone else. Forever benching her, until you somehow can enjoy playing against very weak content, clearing hard with others, is inevitable, because she is only good against fire weak groups of enemies whose random appearing has almost 0 probability until content was specifically created with her in mind, and even in this case she will be worse than others. There will be new iteration of Himeko as another character with same identity that will not be standard and weak, so it is time to forget about this particular.
@@x1UnnameD1x yep, once a better himkek comes, the little reasons left to use her would be mostly gone. The people who use her at that point, like struggling or hardcore simping her.
I haven't stopped using Himeko even after getting characters like Kafka or Argenti, mainly because I love that her playstyle is one which rewards careful planning. If paired with characters like Silver Wolf or Xueyi, the toughness break becomes pretty consistent, and the fights become a constant evaluation of how many charges you can get for her talent, sometimes even rewarding you for letting an enemy regenerate its toughness for extra damage with the talent.
Of course, she isn't the strongest, but her playstile is one that is very interesting and fun, and is still viable once you build her and a team that allows her to shine.
Maybe an update video with the release of pure fiction?
Her usability (or lack of) is circumstantial since a lot of the more recent enemies don't have Fire weakness that Himeko can break on her own such as the annoying Swarm Stings. Here's hoping she does get a second wind and renewed purpose.
Also I find that Himeko works well against the enemy boss "Senior Staff - Team Leader" since it has Fire weakness and also summons Grunts that also have Fire weakness, giving Himeko plenty of opportunities to proc her follow-up attacks and Ult on them.
Yeah Himeko really shines with enemies that spawn new enemies so long as they are fire weak.
That said I think when Penacony comes out we will see fire weak enemies that spawn as Himeko is suppose to be with us story wise. So I think with Ver 2.0 they are going to giuve us enemies more suited to Himeko or give her some minor number tweaks

but yeah, that mostly depends though if we get more characters that just so happen to be suited for countering any new enemy types with Fire weakness, similar to how QIngque got a new lease on life with mono-Quantum and Fuxuan
Ruan Mei is a really good support unit for her, so as soon as there's a mode with groups of enemies that are weak to Fire she'll be super valuable. She has a lot of potential as a unit, and really good synergy with the Ashblazing set where her followup attack instantly stacks it to 48% ATK bonus.
@@revanninja what makes a unit good is that they can be used against enemies that don't have their weakness, not himeko. I doubt even the new event will help her, she will get over shadowed by the likes of jing yuan and argenti
@@zeer7676 No that isnt correct as most units only really work when they are facing their element weakness as there is actual damage number changes when faced with enemies that are their element weakness.
Jing Yuan and Argenti are lightning and Physical they also work on completely different mechanics then Himeko. Jing Yuan for example is better compared to Topaz due to their companion turn mechanic then Jing Yuan to Himeko. They are VERY different builds and focuses. Same goes for Argenti who has a double ultimate mechanic.
The issue Himeko has is one most of Erudition has which its great against large number of enemies but drops off as the enemies drop. Himeko against enemies that spawn like the IPC or the Deer War boss is actually fairly strong.
What Himeko needs is a minor tweak and one I saw someone mention I actually agree with is her Follow up attack just needs to be charged each one of her turns. Doing that will allow her Follow up to proc more and change her Damage values without too much issue.
When I saw Erudition path in SU I screamed. I started finally building my E1 Himeko from level 50 to 70 and leveled up those fire relics that I misfortunately got (thanks for making a better set for her AFTER I got all four pieces with double crit, it was so nice of you)... And then Jingliu was still a better Erudition path unit and the path itself is just a "Make your dps Ult into Argenti"s"
Try Erudition Elation. My Himeko routinely 0 cycles the final boss just mashing ult. Staying at level 70 really isn't good for DPS characters, as the game implements level gap scaling.
If HSR intends to directly buff older characters in the future, I hope they lower the requirement for her follow up attack to 1 break instead of 3, and increase the damage multiplier
I feel that it is fine to stay on 3, or if they are to buff it, 2 is enough.

I honestly love playing Himeko. I use her every time there's a fire weak stage in MoC because it feels like her gameplay is like a puzzle with the break mechanic
It’s great to see some love for Himeko. Great video. I really started enjoying her in Swam Disaster once I had Topaz & Numby. Now, with the path of Erudition in the Sim. U., she is so much fun (with the right combo of blessings).
I’m glad this video didn’t age well (not hating on VARS, just a simple HI3 Himiko enjoyer)
I love how Pure Fiction made characters like Himeko, Serval and Herta go from bottom tier to must build for the game mode. Hopefully, HSR keeps making new game modes that retroactively buff characters like Arlan, Sushang and Yanqing too

As a huge fan of Himeko, I'm super happy to see 1.6 introduce more content geared towards Himeko and other Erudition units, it's a welcome sight! Hope more content like this comes out :D
I think if they made character who could make break bars replenish immediately after breaking them but made the bar easier to break would make Himiko a very desired character because she would work so well with that.
I wish Ruan Mei's debuff did that. The synergy would have been really strong, since as of now they have a bit of anti-synergy.

Personally, like you said, she is the embodiment of Erudition. However, BECAUSE of that, she suffer because early Erudition isn't that good.
New Erudition like Argenti combines elements of Hunt (a better path), sparing them of that.
Please explain to me what aspect of argenti utilities the hunt path
His kit is literally just the more foes he hits the more he gets back be that stacks , or energy from his ultimate and plus him having 2 lvls to his ultimate as well

I have an E1 Himeko, I would LOVE for her to be good and for me to have an excuse to build her. She had an event mission a while back where you could use her and Herta to do wave clears and it was a lot of fun. Hopefully the new mode has the same feeling as the event one.

Can you imagine a character who creates totems or something on the enemies side that are easily destroyed? Maybe they create debuff or something when broken? Himeko could be interesting and all erudition in general. Idk if it would work but just an interesting idea I think :3
I mean theoretically you could also make her viable by introducing harmony/nihility characters that increase Break Efficiency on Hime-

Anyway, as I was saying: Or introduce a relic set that focuses on Break Efficiency so she can break elite enemies in like 3 hits.

I make a point in these kinds of games of trying to use the plot-relevant characters whenever I can, even if they aren't "meta" at the time. Seeing as she's seemingly going to be heavily involved in Penacony, I've been trying to build her lately. Knowing that the new mode just added is one that actually favors her makes me VERY hopeful that they are planning to buff Erudition in general. It also helps that I already had Jing Yuan built and they can use pretty much the exact same equipment.
I just got her a couple of weeks ago in a double pull with argenti (boy did i at first think i got e1 argenti) and i love her since HI3rd but its so sad that especially now with argenti on my roster i probably will never really get to use her alot since i dont have topaz either

I recently reached the 300 non promotional pulls, but i have only obtained 4 of the 7 five stars units (first one i got being Gepard, then Yanqin, then Welt, and finally Bailu which one refused to let me get another character so she gave me her Fisrt Eilodon). And for like two weeks i've been wondering who to choose between Himeko (cause i wanted a fire DPS since neither Topaz nor Guina came, and at leats Guina was an AOE DoT unit) and Bronya (cause her action advancing and critic DMG increment) or even waiting for both to come out eventually to get Bronyas first Eilodon, unfortunatelly Clara isn't an option now cause i got argenti to cover Physical DPS (and i´m free to play so what i got in my account it's thanks to my luck). But now knowing that the principal mechanic of the incoming gamemode it's ideal for her and Herta, i finally decided to bring first Himeko to complete astral Express members so i can buff her both with Hu Huo and Ruan Mei if i am lucky enought to get her.
Been building Himeko for the past month, with recent detours to focus on Huohuo and continue with Fu Xuan. I favor heavy defense to start with and have no problems letting Erudition be my primary attack path. And since I got Welt Yang very early on, right before reaching the Luofu where it seemed thematically appropriate to be using him, and I then got Himeko right as the story's heading towards a spot where she seems to become similarly plot-relevant, it was an obvious choice even when I'm suddenly receiving more Fire characters who might be more immediately useful.
Ironically i Iiterally just used her on new Gold and Gears stage in SU right before this video lol and she cleared it with ease with my ruan mei and the new erudition path, for me personally she's quite fun and her follow up attack is satisfying.
I have her at E1 and even got her signature LC. I love using her in a dual DPS set up with Blade in Simulated Universe in Elation Path 😊
As someone who got so excited that their first 5 star was Himeko, I'm so ready for pure fiction.
Im extremely surprised to see the "why no one plays series" feature himeko waayy too early. She might not have been the best or considered as "meta" Character right now but she is currently my main fire dps and she carries me across game vs fire weak even if she isn't fully build yet.
Though admittedly i knew one day, she will definitely fall off in the future due to how bad she scales with Eidolons vs new upcoming characters. 😢
She is still queen of calyxes and perhaps a solid unit for pure fiction in the future.
I was actually expecting (tho i really love these characters) Natasha or Yanqing be featured 1st.

I will say that I am hopeful for the future of Erudition units, based on the design for Argenti and Erudition path in the Simulated Universe. I think leaning into Ultimate damage in addition to AoE damage is a good choice. If I understood the Erudition Resonance correctly, it deals additional damage to the healthiest marked target, meaning units that hit AoE like Erudition characters can get a form of pseudo-damage consolidation or at least a damage amp against Elites.
Hopefully more Erudition characters can make use of this kind of dynamic outside the SU and we get more supports that can enable them.
She doesn’t get very much stats from traces unlike other characters, this is somewhat made up for by her have the highest base attack in the game, meaning she scales well off of attack%.
Her Element also complements her play style of breaking and clearing, (fire as a big break damage multiplier)
So she does have stuff going for her. Not a lot though. 😂
I always have Himeko on my team when fighting enemies weak to fire and when the opponents keeps summoning minions.

Himeko's biggest value comes not from how hard she hits, but how frequently. Especially in modes like Swarm Disaster or Gold and Gears, you will frequently run into waves of at least 3 enemies and frequently 2 elites. If you pair her with units like Topaz, they loop off each other, causing a constant Barrage of follow-ups.
I actually have been using a (mostly) mono-Fire team a lot in high end content lately that brought me a lot of success.

Her Talent procs incredibly frequently. And that's at E0. Her E4 grants her an extra stack if she is the one who does the break. Meaning it only requires 2 trash mobs to proc her follow-up.
The problem that the community is failing to grasp is that you shouldn't be looking at her in a vacuum. Players look for "Carry" units, who will do all the work themselves. So they pick one "Carry" and pump them up to do silly numbers with harmony buffers. You can't just slap a Bronya on her and call her a Carry. She doesn't work like that.
Himeko works best as 1 of 4, not solo. You pair her with units that complement her playstyle. High break potential and/or frequent follow-ups. Units like Topaz, Jing Yuan, Ruan Mei, Clara. If you build your team to work WITH her rather than for her, she'll shine.
Recently, I've become interested in characters whose basic attacks have added effects (like Preservation Trailblazer), because you can get more out of using them to generate skill points. Currently, I think Himeko is the only character that can apply Burn with her basic attack, due to Starfire. Sampo also has this ability, but for Wind Shear. I'm interested to see if Himeko will make anything out of this in the future.

While I may not use her a lot, I will say that when she’s useful, she’s ‘really’ useful.
I’ll often import her into SU runs where I get the curio that adds one party weakness to all enemies at battle start, since from that position she and Topaz can murder most waves between boss floors… especially the swarms that like to constants fill the screen.
Who deals more dmg? lady with big satellite nuke cannon or a celestial jade player goblin?

I'm hoping that we get a destruction or hunt path version of Himeko in the future. I mean, it's highly unlikely, but it is possible a dan heng situation could happen. I know it was 4* to 5*, but HI3 has different versions, and I think that we should have a sick dps version of her for the game :D. Alas, it's only a wish.
Himeko is always getting the short end of the stick. In HI3 she was killed by Fua Ha in the old Era, and then by Kiana in the New Era, which only happened cause Welt had to kill her father. Which is why he in Star Rail, to protect this universes version of himeko.
Kevin was the one who ended HIMEKO, not Fu Hua. At MEI's orders. It was the cause of quite a bit of friction.
Old era and new era? Idk much about hi3 lore, sometimes I know old era is a forgotten civilization before the game started, but how does there's himeko in old era?
@@greygozhost basically the world in Hi3 gets reset every time the honkai wins. In the Old Era, the herscher of end triumph so the Finality had to reset the whole world so the humanity can have the 2nd chance and this time some of the individuals in New Era have knowledge of the events in Old Era (Fu Hua, Kevin, Promotheus, and Otto.)
@@greygozhost the story of HI3 gets complicated every time they add characters. That's why i dropped the game when the original Trio (Mei, Kiana, and Bronya) got a reunion.
This time i play HSR out of curiosity because Kiana has sealed every honkai energy yet somehow Welt can still use his Herscherr power. And also because of Himeko.
I am a huge stan of Himeko, i got every costume, battlesuits, and signature gears for each battlesuit of her.

I stopped playing this after a few months. Right after getting Blade. But I always wanted Himeko and her trailer is so soothing and serene. It's one of my favorites to rewatch.❤ This is from someone who has never got in to Honkai Impact. So without any bias or nostalgia, it was THAT good to make me like her.
I dunno, I use her a lot, her follow up attacks and giving her a Break Effect set of relics I clean up esp when she is paired with Kafka or Serval. And she works well with Nihility characters like sampo since she really does seem to apply fire damage really well. Those follow up attacks actually do a lot of damage over a long battle.
Himeko in Pure Fiction is crazy.
I use her when farming level up materials because her follow up attack can be really good against the enemies in that calyx

Just use her, a lot of the conclusions reached in this video are extremely sketchy and don't feel like theyve actually been backed up with experience. If you can read "recommended element: fire" on a stage, himeko will perform excellently as a carry, i assure you. I think dreamy/mrpokke overall paint a more accurate picture of himeko's capabilities
ruan mei + the harmony tb leak will make himeko op because her kit strongly relies on triggering breaks and burning enemies. The constant toughness refresh from harmony tb and the extra long weakness broken state from ruan mei + the increased toughness dmg from both of these units will allow himeko to spam multiple follow up attacks after every single skill and ult much faster than she usually does, and the burn from breaking will increase her skill dmg by an extra 20%.

i think the new patch with ruan mei weakness break and xueyi will make up for her limitations, but probably not enough to bring her to relevance since she is euridition. May be nice if they could buff that path since all of its characters - jing yuan, serval, argenti, himeko - are quite appealing albeit inefficient

Besides Asta, Yukong also buffs a specific DMG type (Imaginary) and soon Sparkle will be released, who so far has a Quantum DMG Bonus buff.
This cycle Moc11 2nd phase actually ideal to use her, elite that spawn mobs and the dear spawning trees.
I'm eagerly waiting for pure fiction.😄
