i dated a dude who was friends with fps, and his roommate was someone who did his merch for a while. they all knew, they all made excuses, and they all hid his abuse.
Glad to see Front Porch Step on this. I had requested that on a video prior. Hopefully aspiring musicians will see this series and learn a lesson. I was in my local/regional music scene for about 6 years. By the end of my time, I had learned about so many musicians, photographers, merch guys, sound guys, etc. who had done awful things similar to some of the stories mentioned here. Some affiliated with artists covered in this series. For every person mentioned in these stories, there's probably 10x or 100x more in various local scenes. It makes my blood boil.
No amount of addiction, mental health, or being drunk justifies this behavior in my opinion. Guys need to be better and ladies should have a lot of cautious--especially around band dudes. Thank you for covering these stories.
Guys like Jake pisses me off so much ! Pretty talented, but not enough braincell to understand they are a piece of shit that need to change.
I went with my best friend's band on half of warped just for fun back in 2004.
To say "it's full of creeps that think that all the doey eyed 15-16 year old girls are fair game" is the understatement of the year.
It made me really, really sick. I was 19 and casually seeing a girl that was 22 and one who was 24, but looked a decade older than I was at the time.
Soooooo many of these band guys openly talked about teenagers and tried to get them to the after-party despite knowing they were 15, 16, or that their Mom was coming to pick them up at 9pm or whatever.
Including some now massively, massively famous bands and musicians. It pissed me the fuck off at the time, and i wish I'd been a bigger adult and unconcerned with being persona non grata on the tour.
They're literally kids. Once I was 19 and saw what freshman looked like, it hit me how creepy it is that college guys and losers trick vulnerable girls into shit at the age.

I always listened to the music but never wanted to go, girls always came back saying how awesome the was but everything else was pure misery.

Even if they were, they should still apologize to their victims, and offer them money for therapy and recovery.

Being in a dark place isn't an excuse, it isn't justification, and it doesn't lessen the impact those actions have on innocent people who didn't and DON'T deserve it.

This video was incredibly well done. Thank you. Remember, it’s said it takes victims of abuse 7 times on average before they finally leave their abuser. Physical abuse usually comes with mental and emotional manipulation, and that can make it incredibly hard for a victim to leave.
As somebody who has been groomed online when I was 13 by a dude that guilted me into things stating how he'd hurt himself and worse stuff hearing the story of Fran literally made me sick, this was well made. You're a goat!
Get Scared was the first band to get me into post-hardcore, metalcore, and the emo alternative genre. Glad to know it wasn't any of the other guys. I forgot about Joel Faviere. Jesus Christ

These videos heal part of my heart. Being taken advantage of as a young teenager by someone who had hardly a following outside of the local area at all now their band is world famous and harboring it for years and still do is gut wrenching. These people who came out to speak against their abusers even years and years later takes strength and is admirable. It’s so scary to speak on these situations ever then you add in the equation that these people are famous and you know the backlash you may face is even worse. I pray everyone can heal.

Well, in his video on his second channel, he did mention there was going to be a big finale and it was going to be a member of a band. Jonny might be that one.
I still maintain Jonny is more upstanding than Tillian. Pretty much everyone disagrees with me. But Jonny hasn't gotten himself into trouble in a long time and has been legitimately sober for over a year now. He's actually done a lot to be a better person and get his shit together. I still think he's an arrogant ass. But I can't say I wouldn't be if my voice was that good.

Hearing about Ghost Town a few months ago absolutely gutted me. I listened to their music religiously in middle school, and I still have a couple pieces a merch I haven’t found. Hearing about Joel around the time he was arrested hurt a lot too, because I really liked his time in Get Scared (I like the band in general though) and liked at least one of his solo songs. My heart goes out to all of their victims

The brand new/jesse lacey outage was such a devastating thing, so much of their work was there for me throughout my formative years, and like you said they were one of the most important emo bands of the 2000s. Can’t listen to their songs like I used to

It might blow your mind but you’d be shocked how many girls I knew as a teen that seemed to have zero issue with letting their 15 year old daughters scumbag 22 year old “boyfriend” sleep over.
Even as a kid it seemed wild as hell to me.
I remember meeting Kevin Ghost in Downtown LA, he was either heavily drunk or drugged and kept INSISTING we sleep together. I didn’t do at all but its funny to me because he’s like 5’5 and I’m roughly 5’10. I could’ve just picked him up and tossed him around. 🤣
I still cant believe that DGD throw the whole assault situation under the rug and brought Tilian back like if nothing happened. The worst thing is the fandom, they act as if Tilian never assaulted a girl, bunch of hypocrites :/

He denied the first allegation & then the second one came out & he basically didn’t deny it & apologized & left the band only to come back & suddenly deny everything & act like his only issue was alcoholism. I was just baffled as to why he was let back in the band so soon? If it had been maybe 4 or 5 years, I would've cut them some slack because maybe Tilian would've fixed his shit by then. But not only was this too soon, it shows that the band didn't learn anything from their time with Jonny.
I used to follow him on Instagram, but after the whole apology about "alcoholism" I was so disappointed with the band and stopped following him, also haven't really cared for checking out any of their music since

you should make a video about the thing about daughters/alexis marshall, who was a serial rpist and abser, specifically to another artist by the name of lingua ignota. his response to her allegations was the typical "i did not hit her, its not true, its bullshit, i did not hit her, i did not" but i think it would be good if you covered it to sum it up for anyone who doesnt wanna have to do all the digging ab the situation
I remember when Senses Fail heard he pulled up for an impromptu show. One of the members was running around to find him to beat his ass. But front porch step ran home.

39:31 You're not stupid. There's a myriad of reasons why women don't leave. It can range from Mental Health, Battered Women Syndrome, Damaged Self-Worth, Distorted Thoughts, Wanting to be a Savior... 'I believed I could love the abuse out of him" one victim I know said about why she stayed. Unfortunately human behavior isn't black and white. We just have to be there for them, when they're ready. I think this series is great! Thank you for keeping these people's stories alive and speaking about the common and gross behavior of these perps, who abuse their power.
Well i understand a woman feeling like she can't leave.
My issue is more of the fact that the relationship was (allegedly) abusive Physically, verbally and Sexually the FIRST time they met, and continued to be the entire time. Thats why I struggle to believe it.

I don't really believe her story. There's aspects of it, that just don't really make sense. Being physically abused, upon the first meeting, and continuing to go back for more? It seems she was willing to overlook certain behavior to continue to be close to 'fame'.

i think it's awesome that most bands now-a-days are kept in check. everything is online. and you can probably talk to a member of a band you like, too, as these ladies and gentlemen aren't really considered "rockstars" anymore. it's rad that people and bands (for the most part, anyway) don't have fans that view them as some sort of gods or something. they make good music, we listen to it, but we also all know that they are just regular people like all of us. celebrity worship has always been a huge problem for bands AND fans. that all seems to be going away in a great way.
The last one with Tilian was rough for me. My friend and I started getting really into them in 2019 and purely listened to them for about 2-3 years. When this came out I was happy they kicked him out, but for him to come back 6 months later I completely stopped listening to them.

I absolutely love this series, because I listened to most if not all of these artists that you have covered and it brings to light how manipulative and sick some of these people who abuse fame and “celebrity status” when it comes to sexual/romantic relationships. Sad to see the series coming to an end, but I’m excited to see what you do in the future! ❤️

I really enjoy DGDs music and have listened for a long time since Kurt took over for Johnny. Was a total shock when Tim passed away as i had just seen him weeks before and then to see the allegations against tilian it was quite surprising and quite sad if all was true. Still a fan of the music nonetheless. Keep up the good work! Your videos deserve more recognition
The stuff about Kevin Ghost is really disappointing to hear. I used to know one of the girls that accused Jesse Lacey. It's absolutely disgusting and horrible these guys do this stuff to young girls and never really face consequences for it. The same girl had told me and some other people at a show that another musician had traded nudes with her when she was 15 and he was maybe 21.
If you were doing more videos I know some stuff that people don't know about that probably should be brought to light.
Thanks for covering ghost town, I’ve been waiting to see them mentioned in this conversation. I was a huge part of their online fanbase from 2014-2017 & met some of my best friends (to this day) going to their shows. I remember them just dropping off at the height of their popularity, and being so shocked because I didn’t hear about Kevin allegations until several months later. We IDOLIZED that man, publicly, for years. Damn
I can confirm the stories about Kevin. I remember when the Davi vanity allegations came out and them reminding me of my interactions with kevin. I met him at the 2016 warped tour in Portland and had off an on contact until 2020. I was 20 but I was in active addiction and he knew that, which made it so much easier for him to manipulate me. I never spoke about it, but when the allegations came out I realized all the red flags and blocked him on everything. I just wanted to cut ties. I genuinely believe his band members knew what he was up to because the same day I blocked him and GT, manny the drummer’s personal account spam liked my account but I haven’t ever had an interaction with any of them since. I’m just lucky I had other people with me when he came to my hotel before heading to the next city. I believe everything the survivors have said, truly.
I remember seeing ghost town open for Mariana’s trench can’t remember the year but it was probably 2014 and the singer tried to sleep with my mom LOL not really relevant to the story but I felt like sharing

i don't drink lattes nor do i call myself an "elder emo" (prob could be considered one tho), but i was pretty bummed to hear about jesse lacey of brand new. i was on their street team in middle school right when deja entendu came out. devil + god are raging inside me and daisy are such phenomenal albums. i haven't had the stomach to listen to them since i heard about his allegations. although tbf, anyone who actually listened to them kinda saw it coming, he was a fucked up soul that just had the ability to make his darkness sound good.

It's crazy how many of these grown men in the bands featured on Warped Tour are such creeps. It's like a breeding ground for all these pedo predators to walk around in the open. Whilst, literally being put on a pedestal. Just adored by all of these females, as well as admired by the guys. They had absolutely no shame in what they did or how they treated some of these women or young girls. The worst part is that so many of them have gotten away with the shit they did. It's so sad. I hope that the names of more of these guys are brought to light. I hear about Dahvey Vanity constantly. Also, Mike Fuentes, I have heard a cpl girls mention him. But there are so many more. I hope that the girls who were affected by these assholes are able to start naming their abuser(s). These girls are not alone. Let's take these fu

I remember when I found out about Joel, Get Scared was and still is my absolute favorite band and it breaks my heart that This awful disgusting person tarnished a amazing’s band name, It’s hard for me to listen to “Built Blame, Laced with Shame” because of Joel, I feel weird listening to the album because of him. Even if it happened years ago, it still changed Get Scared’s reputation but I’m glad that they quickly distanced themselves from him

24:58 It's Dear Chandelier. Actually, Dear Chandelier was after Joel's departure from Get Scared. Joel gained popularity through his solo stuff under Sew Intricate and his own name, then continued it after Dear Chandelier kicked him out and made one music video acoustic cover with their new vocalist before disbanding. Joel seems pretty unfit for live performances judging from the few Get Scared live videos online and his interactions with the other members. I remember seeing a few other accusations on Tumblr from this time period years back too but I don't have links, but nothing would be surprising at this point.
Interestingly enough, Nick has also had on-and-off drug abuse issues for years now and constant conflict with their bassist and writer Johnny Braddock. Twice now within the last few years, they've announced reunions and teased new material just to go dark or vent drama on personal accounts. It seems the split is permanent with Johnny's announcement of new material without Nick. Thankfully though, Nick seems to be clean and has been for at least a year.
Though in 2021, Johnny released an either a formerly unreleased track or new track featuring Joel under his own band Victims Aren't We All, which features other Get Scared members. Joel does still occasionally upload to his personal accounts, but it's also uncertain whether it was just previously unreleased or new material. Johnny did confirm he had talked with Joel recently, but it was unclear whether that was just clearing the Victims Aren't We All track for release or if new content was in the cards.
Johnny has also had a very interesting online presence in recent years. Liking Tweets from the likes of Nick Fuentes and the like. Though he hasn't associated it at all with Get Scared, he has also done endless promo for crypto scams on his personal personal accounts. I've also heard weird things from people subscribed to Victims Aren't We All's email newsletter, encouraging stream number manipulation and the like.
I love all the content from these guys but it's miserable all around lmao, fuck them.
WHERE ARE ALL THESE KIDS' PARENTS?!?!? When I was 14, if I ever left the house for somewhere that wasn't school or my best friend's house, I needed to tell my parents where I was going, who I was going with, when I'd be back, and to text them every so often with updates. And if they didn't trust where I was going, they dropped me off and met whoever I was going to be with or the adults in the situation.
Where are all these kids' parents who just let them go off to Warped Tour at 14, meet up with grown ass adults, have sleep overs, be in their house/tour bus, etc etc. JFC this is such shitty parenting and I hope the parents got investigated.
GET SCARED WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS! Sarcasm was my favorite song, and I used to watch Joel's videos and listen to his music, and I remember when he got arrested. That angered me so much

Shame what happened to Nick after Get Scared got back together. Nothing w/ children but it's easy to find online. Their last album was, IMO, easily their best and it's a bummer that these things happen to people and the music suffers. Hope he's better now.
Had a friend that worked at HoB in Chicago that met Brand New a couple of times and she said they were easily the creepiest, strangest people she's met while working there. Was not surprised at all when this shit came out about Jesse.

I saw Brand New once in like 2007, i went to the concert to see meWithoutYou and both them and Thrice were opening up for Brand New. Thrice was ok, meWithoutYou was amazing, but when Brand New came on none of the geoup i was with liked their music so we left after 1 or 2 songs.

The clip of when Front porch step took the stage AFTER the accusations and the crowd cheered him, I get not everyone is chronically online so there would definitely be people who were there unaware of what he had done, but not all of them, some of those people were cheering an actual predator.
