🎣 oh yeah, shad fishing is very popular.
I live in Pennsylvania and a bunch of the shad comes up through the delaware river between may and June. I guess they wind up laying their eggs then. So once a year in Easton Pennsylvania, they wind up having a shad tournament. definitely a nice little fishing contest. I will say shad are a hard fish to catch.
Thats so sick! They’re definitely not hard to catch! Excluding the last 3-5 years you would do 100+ shad days per person here if you knew what you were doing!
Come to Washington State, on the Columbia River. Form end of May to July 4th most years over 5 million in the Columbia and Snake rivers. Shad fish is great fun.

Shad fishing is too greasy, dead shad everywhere, a lot of the fisherman are not respectful, turn your back to release a shad and someone just takes your spot, many fishing daily to just fill the freezer.....but there's a few like you that just love the chase. Respect
Its one of my favourite species and I want to help keep the sport alive. It is becoming and already is so greasy and couldn’t agree more… it’s tragic.
@@FishingOD_OFFICIAL I live 2 mins from there on the montreal side, it gets worst every year, people fishing with 4 treble hooks on their line with a heavy weight and just dragging their lines and foul hooking them, others fill up a bucket with the limit, take the bucket to their car and return with a empty bucket. Game wardens maybe show up once or twice for a few hours, so greasy
Hey I love your videos, can you tell me what’s the period in 2023 for fishing shad?
End of may and first 2 weeks of june usually. But the run is only on fire for a matter of days throughout that period, you get like a “peak”. Anything before or after that peak gets progressively worse and you move away from that “peak”
We call it Hilsha in Bangladesh
