A fair and honest review 👏
Long term I don't think the color match idea will work. I think the custom labels are a fantastic idea (for example the celebi alt art) however the standard colour match option should be put in the bin imo, it's too subjective. At least with the custom labels for specific cards you know what it's going to look like when it arrives.

I really think ace could be the future standard not only in the UK but across Europe, before everyone gets on this I'm not meaning next week. Time will tell but for now i think what you said was right at the end, the 2 ways to look at it collector use and if you want to flip PSA is probably still the way for now. Good points made matt, great video 💪 edit, maybe a preview option for the colour scheme of the colour match labels would be an idea to see what your getting rather then hoping and crossing your fingers it is what you want.

I think ace grading will develop and learn from the critical comments on youtube. Thats actually one of the reasons i think they will succeed. Psa for example is only present in the us. Even after years of high demnand of grading they never opened in europe. I'm curious when ace grading opens for Europeans.

    • @BigKieth420

  • @Kkmzji
    @Kkmzji Před rokem +1

after seeing that first color match i was truly puzzled... out of all the colors in the card they picked grey? there's purples, pinks, blues, greens, yellows, and they picked grey... if they're going to be doing color matches like that then they might as well not have them at all because to be honest that color combo doesn't look like it really matches at all when you compare it to the card. it looks off... the first gyarados was better but i still think they could of chosen another color and not just 2 blues, gyarados has many colors in the card. it feels somewhat lazy, like they couldn't properly look at the card and pick the best colors for the card. they just picked the first 2 colors they saw... very odd.

I'm in the US and I'm actually extremely appealed by Ace, but I genuinely question what the person designing the color match labels is thinking half the time. Just something personal, I think they've been a *bit* too lenient on some of the 10's they have given looking at some of the photos on Instagram, Twitter etc. There are some where the centering is visibly 60/40.. (happy you managed to get some 10's though!)

The only thing that puts me off from using ACE is the Colour Match, massive pro's & con's with this in my opinion, e.g. it does make the slab look nicer but on the flip side paying for a label that you are unsure of what colours you are gonna get is a bit worrying. I have a bunch of Alakazam cards from over the past 20 years that would be nice to colour match but as seen with the Gyrados cards you are not given the same match on each slab which lets is down, maybe in the future they could add a colour wheel to select what you would want if you were gonna go with the colour match option but until then if I were to submit to ACE I would just go with the standard label. ACE is still a great service for the UK and much more cost effective against the likes of PSA but at the moment I am still waiting to see what they develop & produce before submitting.

    4. cons :
You can not send cards from Europe Union, only from UK......

Video was good ! I loved your honest review.
Plus incredible as they they announced themselves, but they can not do a normal working website ? I know every starter company had issues, but every European grading company have a lot of issue..

Sorry you wasted your money. PSA or CGC is the only way to go if you want to grade for $$$$. Unless the market completely flips and resale of these new grading companies start matching PSA and CGC values, you're just throwing your money away. Yeah PSA isn't taking submissions now, but for gaming cards, you can wait.

100% agree use PSA to make money BUT if you dont care about that and your UK based this is a great option if you like the label and slab not everyone grades to make money from them

@@Mattculli 100% agree with your assessment as well. If it's pure PC with no expectation of resale at all, then any of the new grading companies that are popping up like ACE are fine. Like you said, at the end of the day it's personal preference. I guess I shouldn't say you wasted your money, you helped provide an honest and real assessment of them for others to make and educated decision. #respect.

I mean, the service looks quality, but I just don't know if the branding has the longevity to be worth jumping in on it.
You could be spending £100's on grading all your cards only for them to sell for not much more than raw because nobody cares unless it has a PSA logo on the front.
I hope I'm wrong and lots of alternative grading services are accepted by the collector community, but I'm just not confident that will be the case.
Edit: I should watch the video before commenting lol

    "flip cards through PSA"
For $150? $300? Literally how lol. Don't get me wrong. I'm more on the collecting side personally but if these 3rd party grading companies like ACE or GMA are gonna exist they should probably expect people to use them for flipping until they gain a high enough prestige that cards or more worth holding on to.
Most people who sell singles have the same issue that competing with singles market just comes down to price usually.
