- Here's the complete broadcast of a music-laden special, Lynda Carter: Body and Soul, as aired over the CBS Network (in Chicago, via WBBM Channel 2) - the fifth and last variety special from the erstwhile "Wonder Woman." Guests were Eddie Rabbitt and Ben Vereen. (A short switch from one tape source to another occurs within the ending credits.)
(NOTE: Despite it airing on CBS, the studio segments were taped at the studios of "another network" - NBC Studios in Burbank.)

This aired on local Chicago TV (and across the country) on Friday, March 16th 1984 during the 7:00pm to 8:00pm timeframe.

I saw her appearance on the Warner Bros centennial docuseries. Seriously, the woman never ages! But I didn’t even realize she had a sweet singing voice to boot.
Watched her perform in NY a few years back before the pandemic.... The voice is good. Very good. But that smile!! When she smiled , she radiated...see her if you can....
The only reason I missed the original broadcast of this was due to the fact I was living in Tampa at the time, and for the first time in my life, didn't have any time for television. But thankfully, I caught up with it courtesy of this upload, and it only reinforces my belief that Lynda Carter was the most talented, built and beautiful star of my time! Don Mischer, who pretty much produced this production must've been even more star-struck by her, 'cuz he bankrolled this production. And what a production it was, starting with the introduction song, an ode to Lynda's backyard, which was a production of it's own, complete with the aerial videography!
It didn't matter what genre of music Lynda sings, she owns it with her great vocal control, whether it was the time-honored Chattanooga ChooChoo, to Spencer Davis' Gimme Some Lovin'! There's no doubt, Lynda's got chops, and as your eyes devour her, you have to admit, a whole lot more! A big tip of the hat to The Museum of Classic Chicago Television for digging this up and reposting it! Much obliged!

When it comes to talent Carter’s good looks was doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
The voiceover for the opening titles for the Lynda Carter special is done by John Harlan, better known as a longtime game show announcer.
Could be. He may have been the fifth NBC announcer, after the core of Don Stanley, Donald Rickles, Victor Bozeman and Peggy Taylor - and the studio segments were taped at NBC Burbank. He also did the last years' of Bob Hope specials.
Her doing the 40’s then is to us doing the 80’s now.
I think the 40s felt older in the 80s because stuff was black and white. Plus I could describe "40s music", "50s music", "60s music", "70s misic", "80s music", and "90s music" where each decade really evokes an entire sensibility. But I cant tell the difference between 2000s music, 2010s music, or 2020s music... there arent new sounds being invented anymore. The last time was the synthesizer and then the rapid improvement of the synth. Nothing since.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, these Veriaty Specials were on all three major networks. Some were definitely better than others.

Portions Of This Program Were Recorded!
@2011paramedic The Announcement about portions of programs being recorded was a part of the National Association of Broadcasters and The Federal Communications Commission for many years as a part of the program logs which had to be filled out in a certain manner for advertisers, and to meet the FCC requirements. Regulations by the Broadcasting industry and the Federal Government were much stricter in those days.
The NAB Code Of Good Practice was much stricter and more stringent than the FCC regulations were.

I actually remember parts of this show. But I thought it aired in ‘82 or ‘83. Was this before or after she did the detective show with Loni Anderson?
Before. I think that show with Loni Anderson aired in the fall of '84.

The dancers' costumes look like leftovers from the movie "Stayin Alive" (the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever").
Boy, this was cornier than a gunny sack full of chicken turds, but in a good way, lol. I'll always remember Ms. Carter from Bobbie Jo and the outlaw, I saw that flick at a drive in back in '82 or 3 with my brothers and our dad. It was actually the way older but much better half of a double feature as I can't recall the new release that we actually went for, might have been TRON. But I'll never forget Lynda's "talents" and my dad telling us not to tell our mom about Wonder woman being topless, lol.
I saw the uncensored version too, at a Film Festival in Bugtussle (Brandon, MB) back in the wee '80's! There was a collective gasp when that treasure chest came out to play, but not much regular applause, 'cuz it's kinda hard to clap with just one hand!
