    Well it has only taken 27 years for them to reach the same conclusion as the rest of Britain.
    Better late than never I suppose.

      +mizofan Definitely - May I start with The Lusitania, another tragedy 100 years ago involving many Liverpool families; 1198 died. There was a massive cover up by the government, who didn't do their job, lied, tried to divert blame, wrote the crews statements, selected only those that would say what they wanted to testify etc. etc; Lord Mersey, wrecks commissioner who conducted the enquiry waived his fee afterwards, resigned and was known to refer to the Lusitania matter as 'A damned dirty business'. I am so grateful to the Liverpool families for not giving up in their search for truth and justice, 'cos in a way it feels like they have done it for our ancestors too.

    I am so pleased for all the families. I watched the disaster live and even although I don't know any of the people who died I always break down over the years when the subject came up. The thing that angered me most of all were the lies that had been put out about the victims and Liverpool supporters -what kind of people tell these kind of lies? I cant imagine the hell that all the families must have gone through the past 27 years never giving up in their fight for justice for their loved ones. Well done to all of you. Now I hope that criminal charges follow.

    I grew up in Northern Ireland during the 70s and 80s. I saw first hand countless acts of violence and atrocities inflicted on not only my community but to others as well. But in April 1989 on that fateful day in Sheffield, the disaster that took place which 96 innocent souls lost their lives in the most horrific of ways sent a shiver through the spine of the 15 year old boy that i was that day. Hillsborough i can say without any doubt was the one thing that disturbed me most when i was growing up. And i witnessed mass murder on a weekly scale in my country at that very time. As a hardened West Ham fan, i shed a tear of happiness today for the people of Liverpool and I pray to the good lord above that they can now find closure and peace and move on with their lives, knowing that their lost loved ones are finally smiling down on them for a fight well fought on their behalf. What is so cruel is that the people could not go and touch their family members, and the misinformation disseminated about the 96, who were victims btw. There is no closure, you just have to take it one day at a time. I was at a concert and people rushed the field, I remembered this and climbed over seats instead of getting on the stairs in the isle.

    How many people have have suffered a premature death due directly to the Hillsborough tragedy? How many of the grieving families, Mother's, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters died before their time of a broken heart due to this tragedy? How many Liverpool supporters who were there that day have had an early death due to the horrors witnessed that day? We can never put a figure on that, but it must run into the hundreds if not thousands. May God bless each and every one of them.

    It is an appalling indictment of the establishment that the families of the 96 had to fight for 27 years for justice for their loved ones. The incompetence and downright lying that was passed on by vested interests is disgusting. justice delayed is justice denied. sad that some family members are no longer around to witness the vindication of the 96.

    My heart breaks for the innocent fans who bought tickets that day and entered the stadium in a polite manner. Those that had no business being there, no ticket and then rushed In have the 96s blood on their hands. You can blame the police, you can blame the stadium and both are fair. But don’t kid yourselves - those fans who charged in without any thought for others are to blame too

Did they just forced their way in,instead of going home.Shame you are blaming the wrong people.

    I am not convinced that not one person does not want monetary compensation,I thinkGovt better get a list of all non ticket holders in those pens on the day.They are responsible ,not police,not ticket holders,not administrators, but those taking advantage of a bad situation,trying to "Buck the system" non ticket holders should have not been there.They should be held accountable too,if they are honest enough to put up their hands,been accountable for your mates THINK ABOUT IT

    Police should respond to this by refusing to have anything to do with soccer match crowd control. Police should be called in if fatalities occur to immediately stop the match and arrest violators. The soccer clubs should be responsible for all activity surrounding soccer matches like this. If someone dies, the soccer officials should be the ones charged with murder.

    • @mizofan
      @mizofan Před 8 lety +1

      +SugarTomAppleRoger It is a common part of the police's job to maintain public order and control crowds at big events. Let them then have nothing to do with policing strikes, political demonstrations etc. They were political thugs in the Miners strike, doing the dirty work of Thatcher, and they were hateful, smearing liars at Hillsborough. The police have a difficult job, sure, but should still be held responsible for their errors and killings, though they are not- year after year they get away with the killings and needless deaths of numerous people, such as even shooting a 5 year old boy in bed. Contrary to 27 years of right wing lies and propaganda, the jury found that football fans did not contribute in any way to the deaths. I doubt police will be charged with murder, never mind convicted over Hillsborough. Manslaughter charge would be more likely and appropriate.

    • @peace-now
      @peace-now Před 8 lety

      +mizofan I agree with your thoughts. We need professional police at all levels. It also means constables take control of situations if necessary. Police should definitely "take sides" in crowd control. Unfortuntaley there is at present a clear right wing mindset in the forces, including police. This was very evident in the miners strikes. To me a professional tries to predict what will happen, and not tryto blame or cover up. Clearly, if the facilities are present danger, as this stadium appeared to be doing, the venue should have been shut down until fit for purpose and mindful of public safety. As with most situations, the systems are bad, not the people. The system should be changed so that this type of disaster never happens again.

      +wolfumz Sorry, but no!! I have been in that exact situation. I called people in distress over to me and passed them over the barrier. Only selfish people think of themselves. Everyone knows that when the crowd becomes too great, a crush will ensue. Decent people seek out those in trouble and rescue them. The videos show clearly that this didn't happen. Look at them - as you say, thinking of themselves!
