The Ford Ranger XLT is the middle specification of T6.2 Ranger ute in Australia. It can be had with a 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder Diesel engine with 154kW (206 hp), or a 3.0-litre single-turbo V6 Diesel engine with 184kW (246 hp). Here, we test the Ranger XLT V6 which costs $64,190 plus on-road costs, or $3000 more than the 2.0-litre model.
This specification of Ford Ranger XLT V6 competes with the Toyota Hilux SR5 and Nissan Navara ST-X, and many other dual cab utes in the $55-65K range in Australia.

Thanks so much. U r really easy on the ears bro. Very well explained q child would understand. Very informative I learnt alot here. The voice is a listening voice. U would make a good teacher I bet the students wouldn't be bored at all.👍🏽
Hi Chasing Cars, I've just seen the CURRENT AFFAIR regarding the issues of the current FORD RANGER. Issues such as suddenly braking at 80 km/h, dash board screen showing nothing and poor customer service. In your future videos, COULD YOU PLEASE INCLUDE CURRENT ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE (any vehicles) and WHAT THE MANUFACTURERS DOING ABOUT IT (fixes). Your videos influences how our hardworking Australians buy their knew vehicles. You will provide GREAT SERVICE to our community by providing not just the POSITIVE and NEGATIVE reviews about the vehicle but also the actual issues with it. This way, the MANUFACTURERS can be put on notice, up their standards and giving the manufacturers the idea CUSTOMER SERVICE should be their number one priority. Now that's a concept, PASSIONATE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
havnt test driven one yet , but logic tells me the XLT 3.0 4X4 is probably the best bang for buck all rounder .
Great review. I agree the XLT is a very nice hardy vehicle.
But why isn't the V6 available in the XLT Supercab?
Great review.....
Good review
In my view….spend the extra $2.5k & up grade to the Sports model.
XLT gets 4 x 17” alloy wheels with a spare steel wheel
Sports gets 5 x 18” alloy wheels, phone charge pad, leather seats (drivers side is powered) 2 extra drive modes (mud & sand), front passenger car mat, extra front tow point & dark external body accents.
I’d rather the 17 inch wheels
@@SkiRacingOz swap at the dealership. I’m sure they’d be only too happy to oblige 😬
Problem is it keeps adding up, my xlt is 70 grand when you add extras and packs, paint v6 delivery charges. Ill just buy some seat covers hehe.
@@Klistern2 my white V6 Sports with touring pack & AT tyres is costing me $71.9k drive away.
I agree, I would of loved a sport but needed to get into a new car ASAP XLT is the best I could find in stock... sports are hard to come by so had to settle... seat covers will have to do haha, mind you XLT I got abit of a discount on so ends up being about 5k cheaper then a sport... I can live without a few extra fancy things for 5k in my pocket that's a nice holiday for my self
Love it. I really like the design of the xlt the most. Modest but nice.
Only beef ford should let you spec up the interior. Extra cup holder bins, and bigger screen, Top glove box, leather seats, better sound system.
Just for the guy who kinda needs a ute but doesn't want to look so flashy. But nice inside. I think Ford should try to spec this one up. I would think they would make a pretty penny doing it.
Great Info thank you.
What suburb did you film that in?
Cheers
Knowing the that fuel economy is similar to the 4 cylinder makes a decision easier… just need to be patient. Good review thanks.
Black Raptor for me!
Nice review as always mate. I must say I'm always watching the scenery in the background and I'm wondering how many laps around that block you did? 😃
6-7 I reckon haha
@@chasingcars 🤣👍
What is the largest caravan this can tow very safely?
i want a XL with a v6 .
Dont want a fancy work truck but want the power to haul heavy shit
I’m the same bro. I don’t need all the bullshit that goes with it. Just want the a Ute that looks good and has a good engine under the bonnet
is there a tonneau cover that can be used with this given the sport bars?
All of those options are breaking the bank
Dont know which amarok u drove with lag, mine has none :D just ordered the new ranger today, only cos it comes with a v6 and the new amarok will be more or less the same
Instead of quirks it is foibles?
Mate you good ,you could sell anything 👍👍👍👍😋😋😋🍺🍺🍺🍺
0:05 " 60 grand in change..." yet it's more like $71k on road?
Erm…60 grand and $11,000 in change… fair comment.
@@chasingcars Seen them priced at 68 to 72 k AUD !
Does the xlt come with a v6 manual transmission?
I'll wait for the amarok
I like this good ute, but I find the waiting time for this decent vehicle is longer than 12 months.
I ordered a V6 Sports model in July 22 & it is due in October 22 🤞
If you have an ABN you qualify for a $2.6k discount (blue fleet)👍
What county?

I went local dealer in country Victoria yesterday order then March delivery white with tow package
Past XLT was always the extra bling. I reckon Ford have got it the wrong way around, the sport should have slotted under the XLT and retain the bling. Chrome trims and nicer seats etc. Now, the XLT interior seems, well.... bland. I don't know your age, but the door release handles are straight out of a 1971 LTD!
I agree with you!
How about the V6 Sport get the better 4wd system
Same 4WD system in all V6 variants.
@@chasingcars 2 extra drive modes
Mud & sand
All the setting can be achieved manually. You just dont get the quick select. It's not hard to put in 4h.
But you have to live in another country to get one. I guess Buying one in the USA from a US based company is just not heard of.
Isn't it about time they start offering a hybrid version??
Because they increased the dimensions apparently that’s to introduce this variant down the track 😬
I think you will find the reason the engine bay is so large is to accommodate an electric version in the not too distant future
@@tonymartin509 Electric motors are not large.. however the ladder frame has apparently been designed to accommodate batteries
no
Nah who wants a nancy car
It just sounds weird calling it the T6.2
Jesus, its as if Tom has lost his virginity. Mans is way more charismatic in recent videos. Great stuff.
What a fucking weird thing to say.
@@1989cranston r/whoosh
Cheaper but will the engine blow up like the previous 3.2lt motor boat anchor.
What lol. No idea
I have two 3.2 litre rangers 1 is 6 years old the other 5 years old with zero problems .
hahahah. you have no idea
🤦♂️
@@rodfletcher9937 💯 .
@@markconnell6268 I have first hand experience with owning one engine went at 62,000ks and have known of others as well the BT50 had same problems faulty engine blocks.
This looks like a nice ute but the Japanese are coming Toyota has its V6 ute 700nm and power to burn 2023
Out of interest - Why do Volkswagen have so much say in this car? And what difference is this motor to the Volkswagen V6?
Why does this ranger look so different than the one America gets?
Cos it’s a fresh redesign. Not released in the US yet.
Ranger is for third world country like Australia, Thiland and Indonesia where people can’t afford gas price and maintenance cost
@@alexs3187 the us will get one similar to this but it won't be the same, however the ranger raptor will be pretty much the same. Think the main differences of the worldwide ranger and the US ranger is that the US ranger is more off-road focused/lifestyle focused whereas the worldwide version is more for carrying heavy loads and doing general work but at the same time being a decent car to drive around in.
60 grand??!! Are you out of your mind?? No F n way!!
Ok so besides the fact the v6 engine has known issues in other cars, it’s quite a possibility they nutted that out.
Fuel economy guys, fuelll economy.
My Mew Gen bi turbo Wildtrak
8.6-8.9L p/100k
My mates new v6 Wildtrak
9.8-10.9L p/100k
This alone is a winner in my head for the Bi turbo.
We have chased each other around and taken off from lights together and really let these vehicles have it and realistically the Bi turbo is not far off in the real world. Literally a car length apart most of the time if not less when cruising around.
Take it from someone that owns one and has access to the other. The Bi turbo is honestly fair game, has enough power to do normal everyday driving and towing and my buddy is regretting the V6 because of how thirsty it is. We are paying $2.05 per liter currently and my buddy and I both drive 30-35k per year in said work vehicles.
It cracks me up everyone wants the V6… why so you can go a little faster on a rare occasion when you take off from lights and that costs you 15-20% more in fuel all the time?
No, it’s because the v6 is more relaxed so you can bet as long as they sorted those crankshaft issues it will last longer and it will carry and tow heavy loads with much more ease
@@SkiRacingOz sure if you’re using it as tourer to tow a big van around Australia maybe but not for what they were designed to be, they are a work vehicle. I tow a 3t trailer at least two times a week a couple hundred ks and it has no trouble at all.
Longevity wise they are going to be much the same. No different. Maybe when you hit 200 thou it will show a difference but most cars do at that point. Of course the 4cyl has to work a bit harder but with a proven motor and 5 years warranty, there is no argument.
@@topostornottopost3371 I can agree with that to an extent, I still feel the v6 has its place but really I just can’t wait for the f150
@@topostornottopost3371 it’s really up to peoples choice. I have a 6.2L HSV sure you pay extra in fuel but that’s my opportunity cost.
I like the sound & the V8 surge ….fantastic 👍
@@SkiRacingOz the current F150 5.7L has less torque than the V6 Ranger.

Nah, not everyone wants the V6.
