  • A night out wild camping on a remote Northumbrian moor. We passed Northumberlands most famous boulder, the 2,000 ton Drake Stone, source of much local folklore and crossed the moor and crags to camp at an abandoned ruined cottage next the MOD's Otterburn Ranges and training ground.
    Sausages were pretty good & obviously a bad Dad joke was included

    Nice one Graham - that way you hiked in, that pull up is brutal along the fence line. It's a great wee ruin though and well worth the effort in getting there.
    I told you the story on FB about me getting warned by an MP the following day, name and address taken the lot lol. It's technically just in the Danger Zone, but loads of people have pitched there overnight in the past.
    Good to see the midge out in force!😂😂 the horrible little biting sods, you need a small hole in your head net and a straw to enjoy a beer properly.
    Another good 'un TFS Donna :)

    • @grahamswildcamping
      @grahamswildcamping  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Donna, if I’d known about the MP, definitely would have thought twice about camping there and I might not have chosen a bright red tent. Still, I think you must have been pretty unlucky although it makes a great story ! 😂 The much loved Northumbrian midge season is definitely in swing, I’m not sure which I love more, the midges or the ticks, the little rascals! It is an interesting place to camp: would you dare go back? 😮

      @@grahamswildcamping Until you get apprehended by an MP on the Ranges you'll never know how stern they can be with you 😬It's quite unsettling lol. I received a good telling off, had my details taken (Orange Van reg the lot!) and a leaflet about what you can and can't do on the Ranges. These guys don't take any bullshit and that's usually my speciality - talking myself out of trouble haha.
      I had a worse one though, when I got escorted off the Ranges by an MP Dog Van, but that's a whole other story....🙄😂 Would I camp there again at the ruin? Nope, but more for the reason that I've been there and done it, plus the sunset is usually out of sight.
      Looking forward to your next vid - I had to miss this weekend with a bad back 😞

    • @grahamswildcamping
      @grahamswildcamping  Před rokem +1

      As an adult no one really tells us off anymore so I could imagine getting rumbled and a bollocking of the MP would be quite unsettling. It's nice that they gave you a leaflet though. That other story of yours getting escorted out sounds scary.
      Nick actually contacted the range officer one time before we went camping a few years ago and actually got some good advice about where to go. Hope your back better 👍

    It's a much easier slog from the road to the south but it is pretty boggy - you must have been eaten alive 😂 Used to be some decent tracks through Harbottle Wood but they're still covered with fallen trees from the storms sadly. Cheers for the vid!
