- Dave and I had some tough questions for masterbuilder Ron Thorn and he turned out to be really cool and anserwered ALL of them honestly! Big props to Fender and their staff for not backing out from this!

This was awesome! Ron Thorn made my guitar and it is the best guitar I have ever owned! Loved the Interview!
Ron Thorn is a relic himself. 10/10
Ron thorn is just great
Good interview...I count myself as one of those former Thorn customers who look at Ron Thorn as one of our closest friends. Fantastic builder and an even better human. You rock, Ron!
Hi John!I need to stop buying pots for my Strats from you, LOL. Big hug my friend and keep up the great work you do!
@@Macmax7077 Take care buddy!
Long hair, receding and bald. So nice to see represent all types. Well done Henning.
don't be a hater lol!
He's not bald, they're just "rounded off edges", lol.
I love how the microphone holder somehow takes the interview to the next level and gets Ron really going lol
i've seen a number of talks with ron so cool and approachable a true master!
Horizontal grill with a dark thorn in the middle of it
“Who's responsible for skynet”
“Some chowderhead with his spiked wristband”. 😁 I love that someone else uses chowderhead. Go, Ron! Even when he’s hammering someone it’s kinda nice/funny. Guy seems to have a great personality/vibe.
Ron’s a class act and one of the very best guitar builders on the planet. Fun interview to listen to!
Thank you Ron for your interviews
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Immensely. Henning hits Ron with a question, that I expected a little bit of sternness.
Then again Ron Thorn is super classy, super talented, and just awesome!
I want to see an interview with a Harley Benton masterbuilder.
2:38 Epic Matrix move 😳
Awesome interview!
Your average NAMM attendee is absolutely not in the market for an $8k+ masterbuilt Fender ($20k+ for some of those), and suggesting they be able to molest all those guitars is insanity. How many other makers at NAMM are letting random people try their one-off show pieces that are about to go into the dealer network?
@7:26 Good question, interesting answer from Ron Thorn regarding the pattern masking for finish aging/relicing. My question from that is whether Fender Custom Shop allows for customers the option of ordering freehand work vs stencil technique, with a line on the production traveler sheet? My guess would be the answer is No for team built orders and Yes with Master Builder orders, but that's just my guess.
Ron is such a great guy !
I'd like to know how much Ron and the other builders get paid per year. No judgement, just curious. 🎶🎸
$125k + commission
@@wiseguy9202 That sounds fair
@@anthonydavella8350 Not in California - especially with the insane taxes.
Ron is the man!
0:55 Handshake denied
Ron is the man.
Dave: ...authentic...
Henning: WAtCh YoUr lAgnGuAGe yOuNG mAn!
Seriously though; quality sillyness content as always.
Everytime I see Ron appear somewhere, he comes across like a cool guy who is just fun to be around.
Ron, make a tennis racket guitar.
...make 2, geddit?
Ron Thorn is the most Humble person I no. He all so is a great guy to
Damn! Ron is a living legend and he's being assaulted in this interview. What a bummer...
Just to clarify...always buy the FCS or Masterbuilt over a vintage...think about it. I understand there are rare exceptions. #sorryron
Is he now grilled or roasted?
Ron.cool cat and solid.
Mike Stande is my favorite 😂
True history! Play friendly and kind and remember Leslie is generally right (unless it’s related to flame figuring stripeieness ist das beste )>< {if a burly quilt is not available}
Thanks Mike
I have the feeling I already watched that video before.. 🤔
no way!
having a deja vu, too

FUPS;' kool...
The difference between a team built and a masterbuilt is mostly...the price !
Bring Kiana back
Too much money for kit guitars. Buy your own body and a basic warmoth neck then you won't be disappointed
He's saying a normal Joe can slap together Warmoth parts as good as Ron can build them.
Ron is a good liar. The Custom shops shown in the pictures were just master built custom shops not signature series master builts. So his explanation means nothing. Also just go on wildwood or other sites and you can clearly see it’s all stenciled and he actually almost admits that they use a robotic airbrushing technique but stops midway through telling you that.
The guy is trying to convince you and himself that a “team build guitar” does not get the same level of attention...come on, at this price level? this is all bull XXXt.
perudolux I think he said that there wasn’t a noticeable difference between FCS team built and master built. The reason to get master built is if you are finicky enough to tell one guy’s fretwork from another’s, or want something you can’t get from team built production.
