RV Custom Products Battery Control Center (BCC) - Troubleshooting and Repair

  • In this hour long video, I will show you how I diagnosed and repaired my RV Custom Products Battery Control Center (BCC). The BCC is from my 2007 Four Winds Hurricane class A motorhome. After shooting this video I realized that the only 12 volt power source you need is the Chassis 12 volts supply and a way to vary the voltage presented to the chassis battery terminal. The Interconnect Relay Driver just needs one source of voltage.
I hope this video will help someone who is struggling with a battery charging problem.

Great job on the tutorial! I had been reviewing the schematics for awhile now trying to determine the best way to add a B2B converter without disrupting the function of the BCC. After you going through the details of the schematic I felt that I was on the right path and you reaffirmed my understanding of how the BCC works. Really enjoyed watching...thanks

Thanks Wayne. just yesterday i checked my RV(2019 southwind) and all batteries were dead. I have it plugged into a 20 amp plug and thought it would stay charged. I replaced the chasis battery and it started up, but none of the interior lights would work. This gives me a starting point for troubleshooting

Very in depth. Correction 😉 Fluke meter O. L. = Out of Limits. When a contractor or relay is completing a circuit it is called "closing" a circuit. A "short" is usually unwanted or induced closing or completing of a circuit. I ❤️ that you share your knowledge with an open mind, and that teaching is also learning at the same time. Thanks for sharing❤️🔥😀

Wayne, Excellent...Excellent...Excellent video. Exactly what I was looking for... I don't think anyone else would be as thorough. I watched the previous video you made on this also. I purchased a used 2014 Thor Outlaw in Jan 2020. Spending the winter of this year in Florida in it. About a month in I had issues with the Sun and Night curtains, plus the steps hesitating going in and out. Tried to start the engine... won't start. Got the test meter out... low voltage on the chassis battery. Charged it and called the support people on the warranty and service. Technician came out, diagnosed the board and relay needed replaced. Unfortunately he left the company before the board came in. The replacement tech came out to finish the work... I knew I was in trouble when he did not disconnect the battery terminals and told me when questioned he would disconnect at the Control Center. Obvious happened... before leaving he told me the "new" board was bad and another had to be ordered. Months went by, I stopped by their location many times, "not yet" , never followed up with me, only me contacting then. Come the end of March I left and came home. Never did hear from them. In the short term I just ran the engine once a week to keep the battery up. I've had no luck getting into a shop this busy season so I thought I'd try it myself... this video has given me the confidence and the knowledge I wanted. It was easy finding the relay solenoid, but I have not been able to source the FW221 Rev B1 board. Any help there would be appreciated. Thanks again for a great video...

Took a trip to Florida. About 2500 miles. The work proved all good 👍
