- Pevensey Castle, nestled on the South-Eastern coast of England, holds a rich history that spans over a millennium. Originally built by the Romans in the 4th century, this historic fortress played a crucial role in the defence against Saxon raids. The castle's strategic location, surrounded by water during high tide, made it an ideal stronghold to safeguard against invaders.
In 1066, Pevensey Castle became a pivotal site during the Norman Conquest of England. William the Conqueror chose the castle as his landing point, and it served as the staging ground for the Norman forces before the famous Battle of Hastings. Over the centuries, the castle underwent various modifications, reflecting the changing needs and architectural styles of each era.
During the medieval period, Pevensey Castle continued to play a significant role, witnessing various conflicts and serving as a royal residence. Its sturdy walls and towers withstood the test of time, becoming a symbol of resilience and endurance.

I am not familiar with the UK history in depth and I thank you, two for such remarkable work. History I have never heard of, but absolutely, I can feel bitter stories through the film, especially you are such an experienced storyteller. This castle endured not only one, not two.......so much wars it is involved in up to WWII. Some Bloody story....
Wowo a drone lift off...Now I see a whole picture of history, PPL's lives stained this property. It must have been a muscular-look of castle.

I'm glad, that they added staircases and walkways to the ruin. So you are able to see more of the ruin and get a good overview of the area. Cool that they made an indoor display area. The drone footage looks stunning.

What a beautiful castle, and such a history! There were so many kings, it's hard to keep track of them all in all the different places 😮 I really enjoyed the tour of the grounds. Wonderful drone footage at the end, as always 😊 my favorite part!

Hi Alessa and Brett, really enjoyed the history of the castle, you narrated perfectly wouldn't have known you were so poorly. The Castle ruins were stunning and loved the steps to view the scenery all around. Enjoyed hearing the ghost story, OOh the dungeon looked a dreadful place to have been put in, I woiuldn't want to be down there for very long. Have you seen the Bayeux tapestry? I was never that interested in history, but when we visited France and I saw the tapestry, it was a life-changing experience for me!
I haven't seen in in person ( I would LOOOVE to though ) it's something so incredibly interesting. On that never ending list hehe 🤪

Looks an impressive place with lots of history. Ah the old ghost stories and a lady in white. The ghost busters have been down to, to verify. Loved the old canon that's still in awesome condition but probably has a bit of refurb. Some nice nooks and crannies in there. Super weather day for an explore and the colour of the sky added to watch. Fabulous narration as always 👍Paul

Isn't it just gorgeous! The pill box is hidden in the keep but around the back, it's more a thing to see if you came here as its quite well camouflaged lol :) appreciate your time and comments!

Such an interesting history. You pronounced Pevensey two ways - "pair-ven-see" isn't usual but you got it right when you used Pev-en-see 😀

Time and again, sieges worked to take over castles! 🏰 In Arundel the siege was effective because the people inside the castle had no water!
